Gholdengo, dragapult, toxapexMirror match - both teams share the same 6 Pokémon. I'll take a balanced core: gholdengo (special attacker + Recover), dragapult (fast Choice Scarf breaker), toxapex (wall with Toxic/Baneful Bunker). This gives offense, speed pressure, and defensive backbone. Expect opponent to mirror or counter-pick.

This is a mirror match essentially - both teams have the same 6 Pokémon. I need to choose 3 of my 6 to bring. Let me think about the strategy. This is a mirror match with: - corviknight - toxapex - gholdengo - annihilape - dragapult - kingambit Since it's a mirror match, I should pick a balanced team that can handle the mirror. Let me think about what makes sense. The opponent will likely bring a similar team. I need to consider: 1. Coverage and threats 2. Speed control 3. Setup potential A good core might be: - gholdengo (great special attacker, Recover, can set up) - toxapex (wall, toxic, baneful bunker) - dragapult (fast attacker, Choice Scarf) Or I could go with: - corviknight (physical wall, defog, iron defense) - gholdengo - dragapult Let me think about the meta. In Gen 9 Champions, gholdengo is a great pick. toxapex provides walling. dragapult is a fast breaker. Actually, let me consider a balanced approach. The mirror match means both teams have the same options. I want to pick a team that: 1. Has good coverage 2. Can handle common threats 3. Has speed I'll go with gholdengo, dragapult, and toxapex. This gives me: - gholdengo: special attacker, Recover, good typing - dragapult: fast physical/special attacker, Choice Scarf - toxapex: wall, toxic, baneful bunker This is a solid core. gholdengo and toxapex provide defensive backbone, dragapult provides speed and pressure. Actually, let me reconsider. Maybe I should include corviknight for physical walling and defog. But toxapex is more versatile. Let me go with gholdengo, dragapult, toxapex. This is a balanced team with offense and defense. Wait, I should think about what the opponent might do. In a mirror match, they might bring the same team or a different combination. I need to be flexible. Let me finalize: gholdengo, dragapult, toxapex. Actually, I realize I should think more carefully. The leader is the first Pokémon that comes out. I want my strongest/most flexible Pokémon to lead. gholdengo is a great lead - it can attack, recover, and has good typing. Let me lead with it. Final decision: BRING: gholdengo, dragapult, toxapex
Nemotron 3.5 Super VL broughtGholdengo, annihilape, toxapexLead Gholdengo: Good as Gold blocks status/Taunt, Nasty Plot into Shadow Ball pressures Dragapult/Kingambit/Gholdengo; Annihilape is Rage Fist cleaner and beats Toxapex/Corviknight; Toxapex is Regenerator haze backup vs setup. Watch opposing Dragapult speed and Kingambit Sucker Punch.

We need answer exactly format. Need choose 3 Pokemon leader first. Need analyze team preview. Format gen9championsrotomarenabssregmb: singles one per side, brought 3 of 6, level 50, Mega instead of Terastal. We need pick team. We see our team: Gholdengo, Kingambit, Dragapult, Annihilape, Toxapex, Corviknight. Opponent same six possible. Need choose 3 likely lead. Need consider meta. We need maximize win. We can choose any 3. Need think about threats and synergy. We have full team details. Opponent team same species but unknown items/abilities/moves except possible abilities. Since both teams identical pool, it's a mirror-ish but our sets known, opponent sets unknown. Need choose 3 of our 6. We need lead first. We need anticipate opponent lead among their 3 (unknown). We can choose a balanced core. Key threats: Kingambit with Supreme Overlord and Focus Sash is strong; Annihilape with Rage Fist/Life Orb/Defiant can snowball; Dragapult Choice Scarf Infiltrator fast; Gholdengo Good as Gold blocks status and has Nasty Plot; Toxapex Regenerator hazer; Corviknight Pressure/Defog. Opponent possible abilities: Corviknight could Pressure/Unnerve/Mirror Armor; Toxapex Merciless/Limber/Regenerator; Gholdengo Good as Gold only; Annihilape Vital Spirit/Inner Focus/Defiant; Dragapult Clear Body/Infiltrator/Cursed Body; Kingambit Defiant/Supreme Overlord/Pressure. Need pick 3. Since one Pokémon field per side, no switching except if faint? In Champions maybe if active faints, next sent? We bring 3, likely battle until one side all 3 faint. Can switch? Legal actions only bring now; later maybe switch? The prompt says each turn choose one action; legal actions this turn only bring. In future likely moves/switch? We need plan. Team selection: Need lead that can handle common leads. Opponent lead could be Dragapult (fast scarf), Kingambit (sucker), Annihilape, Gholdengo, Toxapex, Corviknight. We need choose lead with good matchups and backups. Our Gholdengo: Good as Gold immune to status (Toxic, Thunder Wave, Taunt? Taunt is status blocked by Good as Gold? Yes Good as Gold makes user immune to status moves, including Taunt, Thunder Wave, Toxic, Spikes? It blocks status moves targeted at user. It can Nasty Plot and hit with Shadow Ball/Flash Cannon. It is neutral to Dragapult's Dragon Pulse/Dragon? Dragapult Ghost/Dragon; Shadow Ball hits Gholdengo neutrally? Ghost vs Steel/Ghost: Gholdengo is Ghost/Steel, Ghost is neutral to Ghost? Ghost is not very effective against Ghost? Actually Ghost is super effective against Ghost and Psychic; Gholdengo is Ghost type, so Shadow Ball is super effective (2x) against Gholdengo. Wait Steel/Ghost: Ghost type takes 2x from Ghost, 1/2 from Poison/Bug, immune Normal/Fighting, etc. Shadow Ball from Dragapult (152 SpA) can hurt. Gholdengo SpA 203, speed 106. Dragapult scarf speed 213 outspeeds. If opponent lead Dragapult, Gholdengo lead may be 2HKOed by Shadow Ball? Need calc. But Gholdengo can Nasty Plot then Shadow Ball maybe KO Dragapult? Dragapult HP 163-195, SpD 85-139. Gholdengo +2 Shadow Ball (80 ghost) vs Dragapult: likely KO? At level 50, Gholdengo SpA 203 (maybe max? Stats shown are actual? It says Stats: [HP:194,... SPA:203,...] likely level 50 stats with EVs/IVs? For our team exact stats. Opponent possible range. Gholdengo SpA 203 high. +2 Shadow Ball vs Dragapult (SpD min 85) huge KO; vs max 139 maybe maybe KO? Need not exact. But Dragapult can U-turn or Thunder Wave. Good as Gold blocks Thunder Wave. Dragapult can Infiltrator bypass substitutes but no sub. Choice Scarf locked into move; if lead Dragapult uses Shadow Ball, Gholdengo might survive? Let's estimate: Dragapult SpA 152 (our) but opponent possible 108-167. Shadow Ball 80 vs Gholdengo SpD 111. Damage roughly (2*50/5+2)=22 *80 * (SpA/SpD) /50 +2. If SpA 167, SpD 111: 22*80*1.504/50+2=55.1+2=57? times modifiers maybe ~57-68, not KO (HP194). If SpA 108: ~37. So Gholdengo can survive non-boosted Shadow Ball. +2 Shadow Ball from Gholdengo vs Dragapult: 22*80*(203/SpD)/50+2. If SpD 139: 22*80*1.46/50+2=53.4? Wait that seems too low; I missed STAB and maybe factor. Formula includes STAB 1.5 and maybe effectiveness. For Gholdengo Shadow Ball vs Dragapult (Ghost neutral? Dragapult is Dragon/Ghost, Ghost is super effective vs Ghost? Yes Ghost is super effective against Ghost, so 2x). Also Gholdengo is Ghost, STAB 1.5. Base damage before mod: 22*80*(203/139)/50 = 22*80*1.460/50 = 51.3; +2=53.3; *1.5 STAB=80; *2 effectiveness=160; * random ~0.85-1 = 136-160. Dragapult HP max195, min163. Not guaranteed vs max HP/SpD? If HP195 SpD139, ~136-160 not KO. If min HP163 SpD85: base 22*80*2.388/50=84.0+2=86*1.5*2=258 KO. So +2 Shadow Ball often KO but not vs bulky Dragapult. However if Dragapult is Choice Scarf and lead, after Gholdengo Nasty Plot, Dragapult may attack first. Could U-turn to bring something; but one per side, U-turn switches? In singles with one per side, U-turn would switch out but no other active? In Pokémon, if only one Pokémon and U-turn, it must switch to next in party if available; in this format maybe you brought 3 but only one on field; if U-turn, does it switch to back Pokémon? The description: one Pokémon on field per side; each player brought 3; likely if active faints or switches, next sent. U-turn could switch to backup, but then you face new opponent. But action choices later unknown. For team preview, lead matters. Kingambit lead: Focus Sash, Supreme Overlord. Low speed 72. Can Sucker Punch priority if opponent attacks; Kowtow Cleave strong. But if opponent lead Dragapult faster, Kingambit can Sucker Punch if Dragapult attacks (Shadow Ball/Dragon Pulse/U-turn) but if Dragapult uses Thunder Wave (status) Sucker Punch fails; Kingambit gets paralyzed. Focus Sash survives one hit at full HP, but Dragapult Shadow Ball vs Kingambit (Dark/Steel) Ghost is super effective? Ghost vs Dark neutral? Ghost is super effective against Ghost/Psychic; Dark resists Ghost? Dark resists Ghost (1/2). Steel resists? Ghost neutral to Steel. So Shadow Ball vs Kingambit: 1/2 from Dark resistance. At full HP with Focus Sash survives any non-SE? Dragapult Shadow Ball (not very effective) likely not KO; Kingambit can Sucker Punch back. Dragapult is Ghost/Dragon; Sucker Punch Dark is neutral? Dark vs Ghost is 1/2? Wait Dark resists Ghost and is resisted by? Dark is super effective against Ghost and Psychic; Ghost is immune to Normal/Psychic, resists Dark? Let's recall type chart: Dark type moves: super effective against Ghost and Psychic; resisted by Dark, Fighting, Fairy. So Dark is super effective against Ghost. Dragapult is Ghost/Dragon; Dark is super effective vs Ghost, neutral vs Dragon => 2x. Kingambit Attack 205, Sucker Punch 70 priority STAB 2x vs Dragapult can KO even scarf? Damage: level50, attack 205, BP70, STAB1.5, eff2 vs Dragapult HP min163/Def min85. Base (22*70*(205/85)/50+2)=22*70*2.412/50=74.2+2=76.2*1.5=114.3*2=228.6 random 194-228; vs HP163 KO; vs HP195 maybe 194-228, chance KO. With Supreme Overlord if at full no boost (all alive) but still. If Dragapult uses U-turn (physical Bug 70) vs Kingambit: Bug vs Dark/Steel: Dark resists Bug? Dark resists Ghost, Dark? Bug is super effective against Dark, Psychic; resisted by Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ghost, Fire, Flying? Let's recall: Bug is super effective against Grass, Psychic, Dark; resisted by Fighting, Flying, Poison, Ghost, Steel, Fire, Fairy. Kingambit Dark/Steel: Bug vs Dark 2x, vs Steel 1/2 => neutral. U-turn 70 physical vs Kingambit Def140: not KO, then switches maybe. Sucker Punch would fail if U-turn? Sucker Punch fails if target uses status move only; U-turn is attack, so Sucker Punch works and hits before U-turn? Priority same? Sucker Punch priority +1, U-turn priority 0, so Kingambit moves first if it chooses Sucker Punch and target selects an attacking move. If Dragapult chooses U-turn (attack), Sucker Punch hits first and may KO; if KO, no U-turn. If Dragapult chooses Thunder Wave (status), Sucker Punch fails and Kingambit gets paralyzed (unless ability? Supreme Overlord no). Focus Sash not relevant to status. So Kingambit lead loses to Thunder Wave Dragapult (paralyzed, then maybe Shadow Ball). But Dragapult with Choice Scarf locked into Thunder Wave if lead chooses it; then can paralyze and switch? U-turn next? Hard. Annihilape lead: Life Orb, Defiant, Rage Fist. Speed 112. Can Taunt to block status/hazards/recover. Rage Fist power increases by 50 each time hit (max 350). Ghost/Fighting. It is vulnerable to Psychic/Fairy/Ghost? None in opponent pool except Dragapult (Dragon/Ghost) can hit with Dragon Pulse (Dragon neutral to Annihilape? Dragon vs Fighting/Ghost: Dragon neutral to Fighting, super effective vs Dragon; Annihilape is Ghost so Dragon neutral? Ghost resists Dragon? Dragon is resisted by Steel, neutral to Ghost? Actually Dragon moves: super effective vs Dragon; resisted by Steel. Annihilape Ghost/Fighting: Dragon neutral to Ghost and neutral to Fighting? So neutral. Shadow Ball from Dragapult is super effective vs Ghost (2x) and neutral vs Fighting => 2x, can hurt. Annihilape can Drain Punch for recovery. Defiant boosts Attack if stats lowered (Intimidate not present; Corviknight Pressure no; Kingambit no). Taunt can block Toxapex recover/toxic, Corviknight roost/defog, Gholdengo recover/nasty plot? Taunt is status, Good as Gold blocks Taunt for opposing Gholdengo. Annihilape is good lead vs Toxapex/Corviknight/Gholdengo? vs Gholdengo, Taunt blocked by Good as Gold; Gholdengo can Nasty Plot/Shadow Ball (SE vs Annihilape? Ghost vs Ghost/Fighting: Ghost is super effective vs Ghost, neutral vs Fighting => 2x) and Flash Cannon (Steel vs Ghost? Steel is not very effective vs Ghost? Steel resists? Ghost is immune to Normal/Fighting, resists Poison/Bug, is super effective against Ghost/Psychic. Steel vs Ghost: neutral? Steel moves are resisted by Fire, Water, Electric, Steel; super effective vs Rock, Ice, Fairy. Ghost is neutral to Steel. So Flash Cannon neutral). Annihilape's Rage Fist is Ghost physical, Gholdengo is Ghost/Steel: Ghost vs Steel neutral? Ghost is super effective vs Ghost/Psychic; Steel resists? Ghost vs Steel neutral (Steel resists? no, Steel resists Normal, Grass, Ice, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Dragon, Steel, Fairy; Ghost not listed, so neutral). Also Annihilape is Ghost type, so Ghost moves are not very effective against itself? For attacking Gholdengo, Rage Fist Ghost: target Ghost/Steel; Ghost is super effective against Ghost, neutral against Steel => 2x? Wait type effectiveness is calculated against both types: Ghost vs Ghost = 2x, Ghost vs Steel = 1x, product 2x. So Rage Fist is super effective vs Gholdengo. But Gholdengo may be faster? Speed Gholdengo 106 vs Annihilape 112, Annihilape outspeeds by 6. Life Orb Rage Fist base 50 (first hit) vs Gholdengo HP194 Def115: damage maybe low (~30) not KO; Gholdengo can Nasty Plot then Shadow Ball SE vs Annihilape (Ghost vs Ghost/Fighting = 2x) likely KO? Gholdengo SpA203, Shadow Ball 80 vs Annihilape SpD110: base 22*80*(203/110)/50+2 = 22*80*1.845/50=64.9+2=66.9*1.5=100.4*2=200.7 random 170-200; Annihilape HP217, so not KO (max 200 <217) but with Life Orb recoil and maybe previous damage, could be KOed by roll? 170-200 vs 217 not KO. If Gholdengo has +2 and maybe Annihilape took Life Orb recoil from Rage Fist (~10% of damage dealt? If Rage Fist did ~40, recoil 4) still HP ~213. Shadow Ball max 200 not KO. Then Annihilape can Rage Fist again (now power 100 after being hit) KO Gholdengo likely. So Annihilape can beat Gholdengo lead if it survives first Shadow Ball (likely) and Rage Fist after taking damage has power 100, STAB vs Ghost/Steel 2x, Attack183 vs Def115: base 22*100*(183/115)/50+2 = 22*100*1.591/50=69.9+2=71.9*1.5=107.9*2=215.8 random 183-216 vs HP194 => KO (min 183 not KO vs HP194? 183 <194, max216 KO; random 85-100%: 183-216, so ~ chance; if rolls high KO, if low not. With Life Orb and maybe Stealth? no hazards. Not guaranteed but likely. If Rage Fist power after one hit =100; if Gholdengo uses Nasty Plot (status) Annihilape can Rage Fist first (speed 112 vs106) at power50, then Gholdengo at +2 Shadow Ball may not KO; Annihilape Rage Fist power100 likely KO. Good. Toxapex lead: Regenerator, Sitrus Berry, Toxic/Recover/Protect/Haze. Can stall, but passive. Haze removes boosts. Good vs Kingambit/Annihilape setup, but vulnerable to Gholdengo (immune to Toxic, Good as Gold blocks Toxic; Flash Cannon SE? Steel vs Poison? Gholdengo Steel/Ghost: Flash Cannon Steel vs Poison target? Toxapex Poison/Water: Steel is super effective vs Rock/Ice/Fairy, not very effective vs Fire/Water/Steel; Poison neutral to Steel? Steel vs Poison: neutral? Poison resists Poison, Bug, Grass, Fairy; is super effective vs Grass/Fairy. Steel vs Poison neutral. Water resists Steel. So Flash Cannon not SE (maybe resisted by Water? Steel vs Water neutral? Wait Steel is resisted by Fire, Water, Electric, Steel. Yes Steel vs Water is 1/2. Toxapex is Poison/Water, so Flash Cannon: Steel vs Poison neutral (1), vs Water 1/2 => 1/2). Gholdengo can Toxic? blocked by Good as Gold. Shadow Ball neutral? Ghost vs Poison/Water: Ghost vs Poison neutral? Ghost is not very effective? Ghost moves: super effective vs Ghost/Psychic; resisted by Dark. Poison neutral, Water neutral. So neutral. Gholdengo can set up Nasty Plot on Toxapex; Toxapex can

NastyplotTurn 1 Gholdengo mirror: both Good as Gold, so status is blocked; Shadow Ball is the strong STAB hit. Our Gholdengo is faster than uninvested opposing Gholdengo but not guaranteed vs max speed. Lead Nasty Plot to force progress: if they attack unboosted, we survive and become +2; if they also boost, speed/roll decides next turn. Keep Annihilape as Rage Fist cleaner and Toxapex as Regenerator/haze backup.

We need answer exact format. Need decide action. We are in Pokémon Showdown battle. Turn 1 lead Gholdengo vs opposing Gholdengo. Both Good as Gold immune to status. Our Gholdengo speed 106 vs opp possible 93-149 unknown. Need choose action. We need plan. We have team: Gholdengo (Leftovers), Annihilape Life Orb, Toxapex Sitrus. Opponent team preview six, brought three: active Gholdengo plus two unknown among corviknight, toxapex, annihilape, dragapult, kingambit. Need win. We need think strategically. This is Pokémon Champions singles? one Pokémon field per side; each brought 3 of 6; level 50; Mega instead of Terastal. But no mega available now? It says Mega Evolution available: No maybe because no mega Pokémon? Gholdengo/Annihilape/Toxapex no mega. Opponent possible Kingambit etc no mega? Actually Mega Evolution instead of Terastallization; but teams shown no mega stones? Maybe not relevant. At team preview notes: Lead Gholdengo: Good as Gold blocks status/Taunt, Nasty Plot into Shadow Ball pressures Dragapult/Kingambit/Gholdengo; Annihilape Rage Fist cleaner beats Toxapex/Corviknight; Toxapex Regenerator haze backup vs setup. Watch opposing Dragapult speed and Kingambit Sucker Punch. Turn 1 vs opposing Gholdengo. Both immune to status (Good as Gold) so Nasty Plot/Recover/Taunt blocked? Good as Gold makes user immune to status moves, including Nasty Plot? Wait Nasty Plot is a status move that raises user's Sp. Atk. If target is opposing Gholdengo with Good as Gold, does it block status moves used against it only? Ability Good as Gold: "This Pokémon is immune to status moves." In Showdown, Good as Gold protects the user from status moves, including moves that target the user? Does it prevent self-status moves like Nasty Plot? Need recall: Good as Gold (Gholdengo) makes the Pokémon immune to status moves. It blocks status moves used by opponents against it, but can it use status moves on itself? In games, Gholdengo can use Nasty Plot despite Good as Gold? I think Good as Gold only prevents being affected by status moves from opponents, not own moves? Let's verify. Ability description: "The Pokémon is immune to status moves." In Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Gholdengo with Good as Gold is immune to status moves, but can it set up with Nasty Plot? I have seen Gholdengo use Nasty Plot? Good as Gold blocks opposing status moves like Thunder Wave, Taunt, Spore, but does it block own stat-boosting status moves? The ability says immune to status moves, but in game mechanics, status moves used by the user on itself are not blocked? Hmm. Need know for Showdown. Good as Gold: "This Pokémon is immune to status moves." It likely blocks all status moves targeting the Pokémon, including from self? But moves like Nasty Plot target user; would the ability prevent the user from using it? In Pokémon, abilities that make immune to status (e.g., Limber, Own Tempo, Immunity) only block status conditions, not stat changes. Good as Gold is unique: immunity to status moves. I recall Gholdengo cannot be affected by status moves, but can still use moves like Recover, Nasty Plot? Let's recall from competitive: Gholdengo's Good as Gold makes it a great blocker of status and hazards (Defog? Actually Good as Gold blocks Defog? It blocks status moves, Defog is status? Yes Defog is status and would be blocked if targeting? But Defog removes hazards on user's side? In SV, Good as Gold prevents Defog from removing hazards? I think Gholdengo blocks Defog because it's a status move targeting the user? Hmm). It also blocks Taunt, so Gholdengo cannot be taunted, but can it use Nasty Plot under opposing Taunt? Yes if faster? Good as Gold makes immune to Taunt, so can set up. It doesn't prevent own status moves. The ability likely only affects moves used by opponents. In Showdown, `goodasgold` has `onHit: function(target, source, move) { if (move.category === 'Status') ... }` maybe blocks being hit by status moves, not using. So our Nasty Plot should work even if opponent Good as Gold. But if both Gholdengo, speed matters. Opposing Gholdengo could Nasty Plot too. We need decide. Possible opening: Nasty Plot to boost SpA. Since both are Gholdengo, Shadow Ball is super effective and not very effective? Wait Ghost vs Steel/Ghost: Ghost is neutral to Steel? Type chart: Ghost vs Steel = neutral (1x), Ghost vs Ghost = super effective (2x). For Gholdengo (Steel/Ghost), Shadow Ball is super effective due to Ghost typing (2x), not not very effective. The action description says shadowball super effective on gholdengo (yes). Flash Cannon is Steel vs Steel/Ghost: Steel vs Steel = not very effective (0.5), Steel vs Ghost = neutral (1), overall 0.5. The description says not very effective on gholdengo. So Shadow Ball is better STAB and super effective. Nasty Plot boosts then Shadow Ball next turn. But if opponent also Nasty Plot, speed tie? Our speed 106 vs opp possible 93-149. If opponent invested speed >106, they move first and could Nasty Plot or Shadow Ball. If we Nasty Plot and they Shadow Ball first, we take damage then boost; if they Nasty Plot first, both boost. If we Shadow Ball first and faster, we can damage them; if slower, they may hit first. Need consider item unknown. Opposing Gholdengo likely Leftovers or Focus Sash? At level 50 in Champions maybe items? Our Gholdengo Leftovers. Opp item unknown. Good as Gold blocks status, so Toxic/Taunt useless. Shadow Ball is main attack. Since both same, the one with higher speed and boost can win. We have Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball, Flash Cannon, Recover. We need maybe use Nasty Plot first to set up; if opponent uses Shadow Ball first while we set up, we might take ~? At level 50, SpA 203 vs opp SpD maybe 111-157. Shadow Ball 80 STAB super effective. Damage roughly: level50, power80, STAB1.5, type2, SpA/SpD. If our SpA 203, opp SpD 111 (min? actually possible range SpD 99-157; our stats show SpD 111 maybe our Gholdengo has SpD 111? Wait our Gholdengo stats [HP194 Atk72 Def115 SpA203 SpD111 Spe106]. That's not max SpD; it's a specific set? It says stats at level 50 maybe actual? For our Pokémon, stats are actual: HP194, Atk72, Def115, SpA203, SpD111, Spe106. That's odd: SpA 203 max? At level 50 with 252 SpA, neutral nature: SpA = floor((2*145+31+floor(252/4))*50/100)+5 = floor((290+31+63)*0.5)+5 = floor(192)+5=197? Hmm 203 maybe with nature? Let's not. Opp SpD possible 99-157. If opp SpD low 99, our Shadow Ball after Nasty Plot could KO? Need calculate roughly. Base damage = ((2*50/5 +2)*power*(A/D))/50 +2 = (22)*80*(A/D)/50 +2 = 35.2*(A/D)+2? Actually 22*80=1760; /50=35.2; times A/D. If A after Nasty Plot = 4*SpA? Nasty Plot raises by 2 stages = 4x? At +2, multiplier 2? Wait stat stages: +2 = 2.0x (not 4; +1=1.5, +2=2.0). So effective SpA 406. If D=111, A/D=3.66, damage=35.2*3.66*1.5*2*crit? = 386 + random. With Leftovers etc. Not KO (opp HP 162-194). If D=99, damage=433, could KO min HP. But unknown. Opp Shadow Ball vs us similar. If both Nasty Plot, then next turn Shadow Ball. Speed tie after both +0 speed. If we are slower, opponent may Shadow Ball first after both boost; could KO if our SpD low 111 and their SpA high. Our SpD 111 is relatively low; opposing Gholdengo SpA possible up to 203. After Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball vs our SpD 111: effective A 406, D 111, damage =35.2*3.657*1.5*2 =386 (before random 85-100 => 328-386). Our HP 194, so could KO if high roll? Actually 386 >194, yes easily KO. Wait formula maybe too high? Let's recalc: Level 50 damage formula: ((2 * level / 5 + 2) = 22) * power * (A/D) / 50 + 2. For power 80, STAB 1.5, super effective 2: multiplier = 22*80/50=35.2; *1.5*2=105.6; *A/D. If A=406, D=111, A/D=3.657, damage=386.2 + random. Yes a +2 Shadow Ball from max SpA Gholdengo does ~328-386 to min SpD Gholdengo, enough to KO 194 HP. That seems huge but because same level and SpA high. However if both have SpA 203 and SpD 111, after one Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball can KO. So speed and who boosts first is critical. If we Nasty Plot and opponent Shadow Balls first (if faster), we may be KOed before boost. If we Shadow Ball first while opponent Nasty Plots, we can damage them but they boost; then next turn they hit +2 maybe KO. Need maybe use Shadow Ball immediately to break their Focus Sash/damage and avoid being set up on? But if opponent Nasty Plots first and we Shadow Ball, they take damage and boost; then next turn they are +2 and we are unboosted; likely they KO us. If we Nasty Plot first and they Shadow Ball, we may be KOed before boost if faster. If same speed, Showdown speed tie random; if we move first and Nasty Plot, then they Shadow Ball at +0 (not boosted) damage maybe ~193? Let's calculate unboosted Shadow Ball vs our SpD 111: A=203, D=111, multiplier 105.6*1.829=193.1 + random (164-193). Could KO our 194 HP if high roll? Max ~193, just under 194; with Leftovers maybe end turn heal but damage happens before leftovers. If roll 100% damage 193, we survive at 1 HP (if HP 194). Then we have Nasty Plot boost active? Sequence: Turn 1 we move first Nasty Plot; opponent moves Shadow Ball (unboosted) dealing up to 193, we survive at 1 HP; Leftovers heals to ~13? Actually end of turn after damage, Leftovers restores 1/16 max HP =12 (194/16=12.125) so if at 1 HP, heal to 13. Then Turn 2 we are +2 and can Shadow Ball likely KO them (if they didn't boost). If they also Nasty Plot first/faster, bad. Need know opposing Gholdengo speed. Possible range 93-149. Our speed 106. If opponent has speed >106, they move first. Many Gholdengo sets run max speed (149 at level50? Actually possible range Spe 93-149; max with 252 spe positive nature =149). They could be faster. If they are faster and lead Gholdengo, common set might be Nasty Plot + Shadow Ball + Recover + Focus Blast/Thunderbolt? But revealed moves none. Good as Gold. They might Nasty Plot first. If we Nasty Plot and they are faster, they Nasty Plot too (both +2) or Shadow Ball (unboosted) before our boost. If they Shadow Ball first unboosted, we take up to 193 and survive maybe at 1, then our Nasty Plot boosts; end turn Leftovers to 13. Turn 2 we are +2, they are unboosted (if they attacked) and we can KO likely. If they Nasty Plot first, both +2; then turn 2 they move first if faster and +2 Shadow Ball can KO us (damage ~386) before we move. Bad. So if opponent faster and chooses Nasty Plot, our Nasty Plot leads to both boosted and they strike first next turn. Could instead Shadow Ball first if faster? If opponent faster, they move first anyway. If we Shadow Ball and they Nasty Plot first, we damage them unboosted (~164-193) possibly break sash, they boost; turn 2 they +2 move first and KO. If we Nasty Plot and they Shadow Ball first, we survive maybe, then boost and KO next turn. If they Nasty Plot first, both boosted and we lose speed. Hmm. Maybe better to switch to Annihilape or Toxapex on turn 1? Gholdengo mirror is risky. Annihilape (Fighting/Ghost) vs Gholdengo: Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Annihilape's Rage Fist is Ghost physical, super effective on Gholdengo (Ghost vs Ghost 2, vs Steel neutral => 2). Annihilape Atk 183, Life Orb, Rage Fist BP 50 (base power increases by 50 each time hit, but starts 50). Damage vs Gholdengo: physical, Atk 183, Def opp possible 103-161. If opp Def min 103, Rage Fist 50 STAB? Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost, Rage Fist is Ghost, so STAB yes (Ghost). Type super effective 2. Damage formula level50: multiplier 22*50/50=22; *STAB1.5*type2=66; *A/D. A=183, D=103 => 116; damage ~116 (99-116) not KO vs HP 162-194. If D=161 =>74. Drain Punch Fighting vs Steel/Ghost: Fighting vs Steel = 2, vs Ghost = 1 (Ghost immune? Wait Fighting vs Ghost = not very effective? Type chart: Fighting is not very effective against Ghost? Actually Ghost is immune to Fighting? Let's recall: Ghost type is immune to Normal and Fighting. Yes Fighting moves have no effect on Ghost. Gholdengo is Ghost, so Drain Punch (Fighting) is immune (no effect) due to Ghost. So Annihilape cannot hit Gholdengo with Drain Punch. Rage Fist is Ghost and hits. But Gholdengo can Shadow Ball (Ghost special) vs Annihilape (Fighting/Ghost): Ghost vs Fighting = neutral? Ghost vs Ghost = super effective; overall 2? For Annihilape (Fighting/Ghost), Ghost is neutral to Fighting (1) and super effective to Ghost (2) => 2. Gholdengo SpA 203 vs Annihilape SpD 110: unboosted Shadow Ball damage multiplier 105.6 * (203/110=1.845)=194.8 + random (166-195). Annihilape HP 217, so survives unboosted, maybe at 22-51. If Gholdengo Nasty Plots first, +2 Shadow Ball does ~386, KO Annihilape. Annihilape has Defiant (boosts Atk when stats lowered) but Gholdengo doesn't lower. Life Orb recoil. Switching to Annihilape turn 1 risks being Nasty Plotted then KOed; but if we predict Shadow Ball, Rage Fist can damage. However Gholdengo likely uses Nasty Plot/Shadow Ball. Annihilape is slower (Spe112) than our Gholdengo 106? Actually Annihilape 112 > our Gholdengo 106, but opposing Gholdengo speed unknown up to 149. If we switch to Annihilape, opponent may Shadow Ball; we take ~166-195, then Rage Fist (after being hit, BP increases by 50? Rage Fist power increases by 50 each time the user is hit by a move, before using? If hit by Shadow Ball this turn, Rage Fist power becomes 100? Need mechanic: Rage Fist's power increases by 50 each time the user is hit, including by the move that just hit? I think the boost applies after being hit, so if used same turn after taking damage, it's at increased power? In Showdown, onDamage or onHit increases `rageFistBoosts`, then move basePower callback uses current boosts. If hit by an attack earlier in sameOrnith 1.5 35B usedShadowballMirror match: both Gholdengo with GoodasGold (immune to status). Make It Rain is not very effective vs Steel/Ghost, so Shadowball is my best move (super effective). Opponent's speed is unknown (93-149) — could outspeed me. If they run Make It Rain, it's weak vs me. Keep notes on their set/speed for later switches.

Let me analyze this mirror match situation. Both players have the same 6 Pokémon. I'm leading with Gholdengo vs opponent's Gholdengo. Key facts: - My Gholdengo has GoodasGold ability (immune to status moves) - Opponent's Gholdengo also has GoodasGold - My Gholdengo is at 106 speed, opponent's is 93-149 (unknown investment) - Both have Make It Rain (120 BP Steel, super effective? No wait, Steel is NOT very effective on Steel/Ghost), Shadowball (super effective), Flash Cannon (not very effective), Recover Wait, Make It Rain is Steel type. Opponent Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Steel is not very effective against Steel. So Make It Rain does reduced damage. Shadowball is Ghost type, super effective against Gholdengo (Ghost). So the mirror match: both Gholdengo. My best move is Shadowball since it's super effective. Make It Rain is not very effective. The opponent could be running: - Make It Rain set - Shadowball set - Recover stall set - Choice Scarf set Speed matters. If opponent has high speed (up to 149), they might outspeed mine. If they have low speed (93), I outspeed them. Given the uncertainty, I should probably go with Shadowball since it's super effective. But I need to consider what the opponent is doing. Actually, let me think about this more carefully. This is a mirror match. The opponent's Gholdengo could be: 1. A Make It Rain user - but that's not very effective against Steel 2. A Shadowball user - super effective 3. A defensive stall set The most threatening move against me would be Shadowball (super effective) or Make It Rain (but not very effective). If I use Shadowball, I hit super effectively. If the opponent uses Make It Rain, it's not very effective against me. If they use Shadowball, it's super effective against me. I think the safest play is to use Shadowball. It's super effective and can lower their Sp. Def. But wait - should I consider switching? The opponent might be running a set that counters Gholdengo. But since it's a mirror match, both are Gholdengo, so switching to another Pokémon might not be necessary. Actually, let me think about the opponent's possible sets more: - If they have a Choice Scarf Gholdengo with high speed, they might outspeed and use Shadowball or Make It Rain - If they have a defensive set, they might Recover or use status Given that Make It Rain lowers the user's Sp. Atk by 2, it's not ideal to spam. Shadowball is more reliable. I'll go with Shadowball. It's super effective against Gholdengo. Actually, let me reconsider. The opponent's Gholdengo has the same ability (GoodasGold), so status moves won't work on it. This means Toxic won't work if I switch to Toxapex. For this turn, since it's a Gholdengo mirror, Shadowball is the best move. It's super effective. Let me also consider: if the opponent is running a Make It Rain set, they'd want to trade. But Make It Rain is not very effective against Steel/Ghost. I think Shadowball is the right call. Let me go with that. Wait, one more consideration. If the opponent has a Choice Scarf Gholdengo and outspeeds me, they could knock me out with Shadowball. But I don't know their speed. If they have 149 speed, they outspeed my 106. If they have 93, I outspeed. Given the uncertainty, I'll just go with Shadowball and hope I can either outspeed or survive. Actually, let me reconsider the whole situation. This is turn 1 of a mirror match. The key strategic consideration is: 1. I want to preserve my team 2. I want to break through their team Since both are Gholdengo, the mirror match is about who has the better set/speed. I'll use Shadowball. It's super effective and reliable. Let me write my notes and decision.
Nemotron 3.5 Super VL switched toAnnihilapeGholdengo lost mirror lead. Opposing Gholdengo at full HP, Good as Gold blocks status. Annihilape is only offensive answer with super-effective Rage Fist; Toxapex cannot damage Gholdengo (no attacking moves, Toxic/Haze blocked). Switch in Annihilape to pressure Gholdengo; expect Shadow Ball, then Rage Fist KO or pivot. Save Toxapex for Corviknight/Toxapex/Dragapult later.

The user wants me to answer in exactly the specified format with <notes> and <decision> tags. Current situation: - My Gholdengo is fainted (0/194) - Opponent Gholdengo is active at 100% HP, Good as Gold ability, revealed Shadow Ball - My available Pokémon: Annihilape (100%), Toxapex (100%) - Legal actions: SWITCH: annihilape or SWITCH: toxapex I need to choose one action. Analysis: - Opponent Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost, Good as Gold (immune to status moves) - My Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost, Life Orb, Defiant. Rage Fist is Ghost physical. Shadow Ball is super effective against Gholdengo (Ghost vs Ghost? Wait, Ghost is neutral against Ghost. Actually Ghost is super effective against Ghost and Psychic. Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Shadow Ball is Ghost type, which is super effective against Ghost types. So Shadow Ball hits Gholdengo for super effective damage.) - Annihilape's Rage Fist is Ghost type physical. Against Gholdengo (Steel/Ghost), Ghost is neutral (1x) because Steel resists Ghost? Wait: Ghost vs Steel is neutral (1x), Ghost vs Ghost is super effective (2x). Combined Steel/Ghost: 1 * 2 = 2x super effective. So Rage Fist hits Gholdengo for super effective damage. - However, Annihilape is slower? Annihilape Spe 112 vs Gholdengo Spe range 93-149. If opposing Gholdengo is max speed, it outspeeds Annihilape. But Annihilape has Defiant which boosts Attack if stats are lowered. - Toxapex is Poison/Water, Regenerator. Toxapex can use Haze to remove boosts, Toxic, Recover, Protect. But Gholdengo is Good as Gold, immune to status moves like Toxic. Toxapex's moves: Toxic (blocked by Good as Gold), Recover, Protect, Haze. Haze is a status move, so Good as Gold blocks it too! Wait, Good as Gold makes the Pokémon immune to Status moves. Haze is a status move. So Toxapex cannot Haze opposing Gholdengo. Toxic is also blocked. Recover and Protect are self-status moves, not targeted at opponent, so they work? Actually Good as Gold makes the user immune to status moves used against them. Self-status moves like Recover and Protect should still work because they target the user? Let me think. In Pokémon Showdown, Good as Gold blocks status moves targeting the Pokémon. Recover targets self, so it should work. Protect targets self. But Haze targets the opponent's stat boosts, so it's a status move targeting the opponent? Actually Haze affects all Pokémon on the field, resetting stat stages. It's a status move. Would Good as Gold block Haze? Good as Gold says "This Pokémon is immune to Status moves." If Haze is used by Toxapex, it affects the opponent too. But does Good as Gold prevent the user's stats from being reset by Haze? I believe Good as Gold blocks status moves that target the Pokémon. Haze is not targeted at a specific Pokémon; it affects all. But in game mechanics, Good as Gold likely prevents the user from being affected by status moves. Haze resets stat stages of all active Pokémon. I'm not 100% sure if Good as Gold blocks Haze's effect on the user. But regardless, Toxapex is slow (Spe 55) and Gholdengo can hit it hard with Shadow Ball (super effective? Ghost vs Poison is neutral, Ghost vs Water is neutral, so neutral damage). But Gholdengo's Shadow Ball is special, Toxapex has high SpD (164) so it might survive. But the key question: what should I switch in? Annihilape can threaten Gholdengo with Rage Fist (super effective Ghost STAB). However, if opposing Gholdengo uses Shadow Ball, it hits Annihilape (Fighting/Ghost) for super effective damage (Ghost vs Ghost is 2x, Ghost vs Fighting is neutral? Wait: Ghost vs Fighting is neutral (1x). Ghost vs Ghost is super effective (2x). Combined: 2x). So Shadow Ball is super effective against Annihilape. Annihilape has HP 217, Def 100, SpD 110. Shadow Ball from a +0 Gholdengo (SpA maybe 137-203) could do significant damage. But Annihilape can hit back with Rage Fist. Toxapex can switch in to take a Shadow Ball (neutral, but high SpD), then maybe Toxic (blocked), Haze (maybe blocked), Recover. But Toxapex doesn't threaten Gholdengo much. Poison/Water vs Steel/Ghost: Toxic is blocked. Scald? Toxapex doesn't have Scald in its moveset (toxic, recover, protect, haze). So Toxapex cannot damage Gholdengo effectively except maybe with... wait, Toxapex's moves are toxic, recover, protect, haze. None of these deal damage! So Toxapex is completely walled by Gholdengo and can't do anything except stall/recover/haze. But if Good as Gold blocks Haze and Toxic, Toxapex is useless against Gholdengo. Annihilape at least can damage Gholdengo with Rage Fist. But it risks being hit by Shadow Ball. Given that my Gholdengo is fainted, I need to bring in a check. Annihilape is the better offensive answer. Toxapex is a defensive answer but can't damage Gholdengo and might be status-immune blocked. Actually, wait: Annihilape's Rage Fist starts at BP 50 and increases by 50 each time the user is hit. If I switch in and Gholdengo uses Shadow Ball, Annihilape takes damage and Rage Fist power increases. But if Gholdengo is at full health and uses Shadow Ball, Annihilape might faint or be severely damaged. Let's calculate roughly: Opposing Gholdengo SpA range 137-203. Let's assume modest investment, maybe SpA around 160-203. Shadow Ball BP 80. Annihilape HP 217, SpD 110. Damage formula: ((2*50/5 + 2) * 80 * (SpA/SpD) / 50 + 2) * modifier. At level 50: (2*50/5 + 2) = 22. So base damage = 22 * 80 * (SpA/SpD) / 50 + 2 = 35.2 * (SpA/SpD) / 50 + 2? Wait: (22 * 80 * (SpA/SpD) / 50) + 2 = (1760 * SpA/SpD / 50) + 2 = 35.2 * (SpA/SpD) + 2. If SpA = 203, SpD = 110: 35.2 * 1.845 + 2 = 64.9 + 2 = 66.9. Times modifier (STAB 1.5, super effective 2, etc.) = 1.5 * 2 = 3. So ~200 damage. That's nearly OHKO on Annihilape (HP 217). With Life Orb recoil? No, that's for the attacker. So Shadow Ball from a strong SpA Gholdengo could OHKO or heavily damage Annihilape. But if opposing Gholdengo is less invested, maybe not OHKO. Still risky. Toxapex: HP 157, SpD 164. Shadow Ball from SpA 203: 35.2 * (203/164) + 2 = 35.2 * 1.238 + 2 = 43.6 + 2 = 45.6. Times 1.5 (STAB) * 1 (neutral) = ~68 damage. Toxapex can survive easily and Recover. But Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo. However, the opponent might switch out Gholdengo if they see Annihilape or Toxapex. But I have to make a move now. Given the team preview notes: "Annihilape is Rage Fist cleaner and beats Toxapex/Corviknight". It doesn't mention beating Gholdengo. But Annihilape's Rage Fist is super effective against Gholdengo. However, Gholdengo's Shadow Ball is also super effective against Annihilape. Toxapex is "Regenerator haze backup vs setup". But Good as Gold blocks Haze and Toxic. I think switching to Annihilape is the more aggressive play to pressure Gholdengo. If Gholdengo stays in, it might click Shadow Ball again, damaging Annihilape but powering up Rage Fist. Then Annihilape can KO with Rage Fist next turn if it survives. But if it gets OHKO'd, that's bad. Alternatively, Toxapex can switch in, take a hit, and then maybe the opponent switches out. But Toxapex can't do anything to Gholdengo. Wait, what about the fact that the opponent's Gholdengo just used Shadow Ball and my Gholdengo fainted. The opponent's Gholdengo is at 100% HP. It might Nasty Plot next turn or continue attacking. Given that I have no Gholdengo, Annihilape is my best offensive presence. I'll switch to Annihilape to threaten with Rage Fist. If it gets hit by Shadow Ball, Rage Fist power goes up. Annihilape also has Drain Punch for recovery, but against Gholdengo (Steel/Ghost), Drain Punch is neutral (Fighting vs Steel is 0.5x? Wait: Fighting vs Steel is super effective (2x). Fighting vs Ghost is immune (0x). Combined Steel/Ghost: 2 * 0 = 0. So Drain Punch is completely ineffective against Gholdengo because Ghost is immune to Fighting. So Annihilape's only damaging move against Gholdengo is Rage Fist (Ghost). Shadow Ball is the opponent's move. So Annihilape vs Gholdengo: Annihilape can only use Rage Fist (or Taunt/Bulk Up, but those are status and blocked by Good as Gold). Rage Fist is super effective. Gholdenko can use Shadow Ball (super effective) or other moves. This is a speed tie or speed disadvantage. Annihilape Spe 112. Opposing Gholdengo Spe 93-149. If opposing Gholdengo is faster, it can Shadow Ball first. If Annihilape is faster, it can Rage Fist first. Given uncertainty, maybe Toxapex is safer to bring in to scout? But Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo at all. However, Toxapex can Recover and potentially force Gholdenko to switch if it can't break through. But Gholdengo can just keep clicking Shadow Ball and eventually break Toxapex, though Toxapex has high SpD and Recover. Actually, looking at the moves: Toxapex has Haze. Even if Good as Gold blocks status moves targeting the user, does it block Haze? Let me recall: Good as Gold makes the user immune to status moves. Haze is a status move that resets all stat changes on the field. In Pokémon mechanics, if a Pokémon with Good as Gold is targeted by a status move, it fails. But Haze doesn't target a specific Pokémon; it affects all. However, the game likely treats it as a status move used by the opponent, and Good as Gold might prevent the user's stats from being reset. I'm not entirely sure, but I think Good as Gold blocks Haze's effect on the user because the user is immune to status moves. Even if it doesn't, Toxapex can Haze to remove Nasty Plot boosts if the opponent boosts. But right now, opposing Gholdengo has no boosts. My Gholdengo is dead. I think the best play is SWITCH: annihilape. It applies offensive pressure and can potentially KO Gholdengo with Rage Fist if it survives a hit. Toxapex is too passive and can't damage Gholdengo. Wait, but if I switch in Annihilape and the opponent predicts and switches to something else (like Dragapult or Kingambit later), Annihilape might be forced out. But right now, only Gholdengo is revealed. The opponent has 2 more to bring in later. Given the legal actions only allow switching to Annihilape or Toxapex, and I need to choose one. I'll choose Annihilape because it's the only one that can threaten Gholdengo offensively. Toxapex is setup fodder and can't touch Gholdengo due to Good as Gold blocking Toxic/Haze and lack of damaging moves. Actually, wait: Toxapex's moves don't include any damaging move! It only has toxic, recover, protect, haze. So against Gholdengo, Toxapex is completely helpless. It can't even damage it. So switching Toxapex in is basically giving up momentum unless the opponent switches out. Annihilape at least can click Rage Fist. Therefore: SWITCH: annihilape. Notes should be concise, at most 60 words, planning ahead. Notes: Gholdengo lost mirror lead. Decision: SWITCH: annihilape Format exactly: <notes>...</notes> <decision>SWITCH: annihilape</decision> Make sure notes are at most 60 words. Let's count: "Gholdengo lost mirror lead. Save Toxapex for Corviknight/Toxapex/Dragapult later." That's about 55 words. Good. Wait, I need to ensure the decision line is exactly one action copied from LEGAL ACTIONS without its number. The legal actions are: 1. SWITCH: annihilape (100.0% HP) 2. SWITCH: toxapex (100.0% HP) So I should write: SWITCH: annihilape Yes. Double check: The user said "Answer in exactly this form: <notes>...</notes>, then <decision>...</decision> holding one action from LEGAL ACTIONS." So I will output exactly that.
- Turn 2Nemotron 3.5 Super VL used
RagefistAnnihilape vs full opposing Gholdengo. Good as Gold blocks Taunt; Drainpunch no effect. Rage Fist is super effective and likely KOes after one hit/speed hit; save Toxapex for Corviknight/Toxapex/Dragapult later. Expect Shadow Ball; Annihilape should survive one hit and then KO with boosted Rage Fist.
Reasoning trace (1,859 words)
We need answer exactly format. Need decide action. Let's analyze battle. We have Annihilape active full HP vs opposing Gholdengo full HP. Gholdengo Good as Gold immune to status moves. Annihilape moves: Rage Fist Ghost physical BP50 super effective on Gholdengo, +50 BP per hit on user max 6 hits resets on switch-out. Drainpunch Fighting no effect on Ghost. Taunt status blocked by Good as Gold? Taunt is status move, Good as Gold makes user immune to status moves, so Taunt fails? In Showdown, Good as Gold blocks status moves targeting the Pokémon; Taunt would fail. Bulkup status self-target? Good as Gold only immunity to status moves from foes? It says immune to Status moves. Bulkup is status move used by user; can Good as Gold block own status moves? Ability Good as Gold: "This Pokémon is immune to status moves." In Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Gholdengo's Good as Gold makes it immune to status moves, including moves like Taunt, Thunder Wave, Spore, etc. Does it block status moves used by itself? I think immunity to status moves means it cannot be affected by status moves, but can it use status moves on itself? In game, Good as Gold prevents the Pokémon from being affected by status moves, but status moves used by the user on itself? Let's recall: Gholdengo with Good as Gold can use Nasty Plot? Yes, Gholdengo commonly uses Nasty Plot despite Good as Gold. The ability blocks opposing status moves, not own? Wording "immune to status moves" might mean moves targeting it, but self-target stat boosts are not blocked because they are not "affected by foe"? In Showdown, Good as Gold blocks status moves that target the Pokémon, including from ally? It likely doesn't prevent using status moves on self. But here Taunt targets opposing Gholdengo, so blocked/fails. Bulkup self could work but not useful vs Gholdengo maybe. Switch to Toxapex: Toxapex cannot damage Gholdengo (no attacking moves; Toxic/Haze blocked by Good as Gold; Recover stalls). But switching gives turn to Gholdengo; maybe Shadow Ball hits Toxapex neutrally? Gholdengo Shadow Ball vs Toxapex (Poison/Water) neutral? Ghost is neutral to Poison and Water? Ghost vs Poison neutral, vs Water neutral. Could do significant. Toxapex can Recover. But Annihilape is the answer; Rage Fist super effective. Need consider speed tie: Annihilape Spe 112 vs Gholdengo possible 93-149. If opposing Gholdengo is faster, it may Shadow Ball first. Annihilape has Life Orb; after using Rage Fist takes recoil. Need KO? Let's estimate damage. Level 50 Annihilape Atk 183 (likely max? Stats shown [HP217 Atk183 Def100 SpA63 SpD110 Spe112] are actual stats? It says Stats: [HP 217, Atk 183, Def 100, SpA 63, SpD 110, Spe 112]. These look actual level 50 stats with IVs/EVs? Annihilape base stats: HP 100, Atk 115, Def 80, SpA 50, SpD 90, Spe 90. At level 50 with 252 Atk, 31 IV, nature +Atk: Atk = floor((2*115+31+floor(252/4))*50/100)+5 = floor((230+31+63)*0.5)+5 = floor(162)+5=167? Wait formula: (2*base + IV + floor(EV/4))*level/100 +5 = (230+31+63)*0.5+5 =162+5=167. With positive nature multiply 1.1 =183.7 floor 183. Yes Atk 183 with Adamant max. HP 217 max? base HP100: (2*100+31+63)*0.5+10+50 =147+60=207? Wait HP formula = ((2*base+IV+floor(EV/4))*level/100)+level+10 = (200+31+63)*0.5+60 =147+60=207. But shown HP 217. That's 10 higher. Maybe level 50 in Pokémon Champions uses different? Let's recalc: For level 100 max HP with base100 31 IV 252 EV = 304? Formula level100: 2*100+31+63 +100 +10 =304. Level50 roughly half +? = (294)*0.5 +10+10? =147+20=167? No I messed. Correct HP formula at level 50: floor(((2*100+31+63)*50)/100)+50+10 = floor(294*0.5)+60 =147+60=207. Shown 217 impossible unless HP EV 252 gives +63, yes included; base 100 max HP at level50 is 207? Let's check known: Level 50 Pokémon with 31 IVs and 252 EVs in HP, base 100 HP has 207 HP? Example base 100 at level 50 neutral: 207? At level 100: 304. Half of 304 minus? 152 + 60 =212? Hmm formula includes level+10 =60, at level100 includes 110. Difference not linear. Let's compute level100: (2*100+31+63)=294 +100 +10 =405? Wait I forgot formula at level100: ((2*base+IV+floor(EV/4))*level/100)+level+10. For level100, (294)*1 +100+10=404? That's wrong; known max HP for base100 at level100 is 304? Let's recall formula: HP = floor((2*Base + IV + floor(EV/4)) * Level / 100 + Level + 10). For base100, IV31, EV252, level100: (200+31+63)=294; *100/100=294; +100+10=404. But actual Blissey base255 max HP 714? Formula: (510+31+63)=604 +100+10=714 yes. For base100: 404. Is that correct? A level100 base100 HP with max EVs has 304? Let's check: base 100, no EVs, 31 IV at level100: (200+31)=231 +100+10=342. But known Pokémon with base100 HP (e.g.? ) at level100 around 340? Yes maybe. At level50: (294)*0.5=147 +50+10=207. So shown HP217 is 10 higher than max? Maybe Pokémon Champions level 50 stats use level 50 but with 31 IVs and 252 EVs and nature? HP unaffected by nature. 207 max. Shown 217 impossible. Maybe stats shown are level 50 but calculated as if level 50 in VGC with HP = floor(((2*base+IV+floor(EV/4))*50)/100)+50+10 =207. Unless base HP 120? Annihilape base HP 100. Hmm maybe they use level 50 but stats are at level 50 with 31 IVs and 252 EVs plus "Pokémon Champions" maybe all stats boosted? Not important. Opposing Gholdengo possible HP 162-194. Our Annihilape Atk 183 Life Orb. Rage Fist base power starts 50, Ghost, super effective (2x) against Gholdengo. Damage formula level50: damage = floor((((2*level/5 +2)*power*A/D)/50)+2) * modifiers. For level50, factor = (20+2)=22. If power 50, A=183, D=Gholdengo Def maybe 103-161. Base damage before mod = floor((22*50*183/D)/50)+2 = floor((22*183/D)*? wait 22*50*183 /50 =22*183=4026; /D; +2) then * STAB 1.5 * super effective 2 * Life Orb 1.3 * random. If D=103 (min), floor(4026/103=39.08)+2=41; *1.5=61.5; *2=123; *1.3=159.9; random 0.85-1 => 136-160. If Gholdengo HP max 194, not KO at min power. If D=161, floor(25.0)+2=27; *1.5=40.5;*2=81;*1.3=105.3 random 89-105. Not KO. But Rage Fist BP increases by 50 each time user is hit. On first hit, BP=50. If Annihilape gets hit by Shadow Ball before/after? Rage Fist description: power increases by 50 each time Annihilape is hit by a move, max 6 hits. Does it increase if hit before using in same turn? If opponent moves first and hits Annihilape, then Annihilape uses Rage Fist after taking damage, does power reflect the hit? In games, Rage Fist's power increases each time the user is hit; if the user is hit earlier in the same turn before moving, does the increased damage apply to its current move? I believe Rage Fist damage is based on number of times hit before using the move? Let's recall: Rage Fist has base power 50 and increases by 50 each time the user is hit, up to 350. If user is hit by a move and then uses Rage Fist later in same turn, the damage boost applies? In Pokémon, stat changes and damage multipliers are checked when move is used. Rage Fist's power is determined by how many times the user has been hit by a move (a counter). If hit by an earlier move this turn, counter increments, so yes if slower and takes hit then Rage Fist, power should be 100 (after one hit) for the counterattack. But if both moves simultaneous? Speed determines. If Gholdengo faster and uses Shadow Ball, Annihilape takes damage, counter=1, then Rage Fist power=100. That likely KO. If Annihilape faster, uses Rage Fist at BP50 before taking hit, then gets hit by Shadow Ball; counter increments for future. First Rage Fist may not KO full HP Gholdengo (max damage ~160 vs HP up to194; if Gholdengo HP lower maybe KO). Then Gholdengo Shadow Ball may KO Annihilape? Need estimate. Opposing Gholdengo SpA range 137-203. Shadow Ball vs Annihilape (Fighting/Ghost): Ghost is not very effective? Ghost vs Fighting neutral? Ghost vs Ghost? Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost; Ghost type effectiveness: Ghost is neutral to Fighting? Type chart: Ghost is not very effective against Dark? Wait Ghost moves: super effective against Ghost and Psychic; not very effective against Dark; no effect Normal. Fighting/Ghost: Ghost vs Fighting = neutral (1), vs Ghost = super effective (2), combined = 2? Actually dual type effectiveness multiplies: Ghost vs Fighting = 1, Ghost vs Ghost = 2, so total 2. Shadow Ball is super effective on Annihilape due to Ghost typing. Gholdengo SpA maybe 137-203, Annihilape SpD 110. Damage level50 power80 SpA maybe 167 average, D=110: base = floor((22*80*167/110)/50?) Let's compute formula: ((22*80*167)/110)/50 +2 = (22*80*167)/(5500)+2 = (293,? 22*80=1760;*167=293,920; /5500=53.44)+2=55.44 floor55; modifiers STAB1.5 * super effective2 * LO? target no LO; random. =55*1.5=82.5*2=165 random 140-165. Not KO (HP217). If SpA max203: base = (22*80*203/110)/50+2 = (357,? 1760*203=357,280 /5500=64.96)+2=66; *1.5*2=198 random 168-198. Not KO unless high roll and maybe hazards none. Annihilape survives one Shadow Ball likely. After Life Orb recoil from Rage Fist (~10% max HP =21-22) plus Shadow Ball maybe ~150-198, Annihilape could be low but alive if not max roll. Then second Rage Fist after being hit once has BP100, likely KO Gholdengo. But if Gholdengo faster and uses Shadow Ball first, Annihilape's Rage Fist BP100; damage vs Gholdengo: base with power100 D=103: floor(4026*2/103=78.17)+2=80; *1.5*2*1.3=312 random 265-312, KO. If D=161: floor(49.94)+2=51; *3.9=198.9 random 169-199; may KO if HP <=169 or high roll; opposing Gholdengo HP possible 162-194. If it has 194 HP and Def high, BP100 may not KO (max 199 random min169; possible KO if roll high and HP not max). But after first Shadow Ball, Annihilape at maybe 20-100 HP; if Gholdengo not KOed, it can Shadow Ball again and likely KO Annihilape (unless Annihilape at full and Shadow Ball max198 leaves 19 HP; but after LO recoil ~22, Annihilape at195 before Shadow Ball; max Shadow Ball198 could KO). Need consider speed tie and item unknown. We need choose best action this turn. Options: Rage Fist, Drainpunch (no effect), Taunt (blocked), Bulkup, Switch Toxapex. Given Annihilape is only offensive answer and Rage Fist super effective. Should use Rage Fist. Even if not KO first, sets up counter. But risk: if Gholdengo faster and KOes Annihilape after Rage Fist? Let's evaluate. If Annihilape faster: uses Rage Fist BP50. Damage maybe 89-160 depending Def/HP. Opposing Gholdengo at full HP 162-194. If Gholdengo has high HP/Def, Rage Fist may not KO; then Gholdengo uses Shadow Ball. Annihilape after LO recoil (HP 217 -> ~195) takes Shadow Ball. If Gholdengo SpA high and roll high, Shadow Ball up to198 could KO (195 HP) maybe. If not, Annihilape can Rage Fist BP100 next turn and KO. If Gholdengo faster: Shadow Ball first hits Annihilape (maybe 140-198). Annihilape survives unless max roll vs full HP? If Annihilape at 217, max Shadow Ball 198 leaves 19; survives. Then Rage Fist BP100 (because hit once) likely KO or severe. If Gholdengo has Focus Sash? Item unknown; at full HP, if Rage Fist would KO, Focus Sash could survive with 1 HP, then Shadow Ball maybe KO Annihilape. But Gholdengo likely Leftovers? Unknown. Good as Gold. Common Gholdengo item Leftovers or Focus Sash. If Focus Sash and faster, it survives first Rage Fist at 1 HP then Shadow Ball KOes damaged Annihilape. But if Annihilape faster and uses BP50, Focus Sash survives (if damage < HP), then Shadow Ball hits Annihilape after LO recoil; could KO if Annihilape at195 and Shadow Ball high. Then opponent
Ornith 1.5 35B usedShadowballMirror match. My Gholdengo is immune to Fighting (Close Combat), Ground (High Horsepower) — only Ghost moves/coverage can hurt it, and they're weak vs my SpD. Shadowball is super effective vs Annihilape. Safe to attack; Recover next turn if needed. Opponent still has 1 more from Kingambit/Dragapult/Toxapex/Corviknight.

Let me analyze this situation carefully. Current state: - My Gholdengo is active vs Opponent's Annihilape - Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost type - Annihilape stats: HP 185-217, Atk 121-183, Def 90-145, SpA 63-112, SpD 99-156, Spe 99-156 Key matchup analysis: - Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost. Ghost types are immune to Fighting moves. But Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost, so it can't be hit by Fighting moves? No wait, Annihilape IS the attacker. - My Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. - Annihilape's Fighting moves would be super effective vs my Gholdengo? No! Gholdengo is Ghost type, which is immune to Fighting. So Fighting moves do nothing to Gholdengo. - Annihilape's Ghost moves would be... neutral vs Gholdengo (Ghost vs Ghost is neutral). Actually Ghost hits Ghost neutrally. - Wait, but Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Steel is immune to Poison, and Ghost is immune to Normal and Fighting. So Annihilape's Fighting moves (like Close Combat, Working Up) do NOTHING to Gholdengo. - Annihilape's Ghost moves would hit Gholdengo. Annihilape's signature move is Spirit Shackle (Ghost). It also has High Horsepower (Ground), Close Combat (Fighting), etc. Actually, the key insight: Gholdengo is immune to Fighting. Annihilape's main STAB is Fighting (Close Combat) which does nothing. Its Ghost STAB (Spirit Shackle) would hit but... Wait, but there's a big concern. Annihilape with Defiant ability - if I lower its stats, its Attack goes up. But I'm a special attacker. Let me think about what Annihilape could do: - Close Combat (Fighting) - does NOTHING to Gholdengo (Ghost immune to Fighting) - Spirit Shackle (Ghost) - neutral, could damage Gholdengo - High Horsepower (Ground) - neutral - U-turn Actually, the most important thing: Gholdengo is immune to Fighting. So the only way Annihilape damages Gholdengo is with a Ghost move or coverage. If Annihilape uses Spirit Shackle (Ghost), it would hit Gholdengo. But Gholdengo is a special wall with high SpD (143). Spirit Shackle has BP 80. Let me estimate: - Spirit Shackle damage to Gholdengo: 80 BP, Annihilape SpA ~112 max, vs Gholdengo SpD 143. That's not much. But wait, Annihilape could also have Close Combat which does nothing. The real question: should I attack or switch? My Gholdengo vs Annihilape: - I can hit with Shadowball (super effective, Ghost vs Ghost... wait, Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost, so Ghost moves are super effective). - Shadowball is super effective. Good. But there's a risk. If Annihilape has Spirit Shackle, it could damage my Gholdengo. But Gholdengo has Recover. Actually, let me reconsider. The safest play might be to switch to Dragapult, which is fast (213 speed) and can hit hard. Dragapult vs Annihilape: - Dragapult is Dragon/Ghost, immune to Fighting and Normal. - Annihilape's Fighting moves do nothing to Dragapult too! - Dragapult can OHOH with Draco Meteor or Shadowball. Wait, both Gholdengo and Dragapult are immune to Fighting. So Annihilape's Close Combat does nothing to either. The concern is Ghost moves from Annihilape. Spirit Shackle is Ghost. Against Gholdengo (SpD 143) it's weak. Against Dragapult (SpD 95) it's more damaging but Dragapult is faster. Let me think about the matchup more carefully. Actually, the key strategic point: I need to figure out what Annihilape is running. But regardless, my Gholdengo is a good check against Annihilape because: 1. Immune to Fighting (Close Combat does nothing) 2. Can recover 3. Shadowball is super effective But if Annihilape has Spirit Shackle, it could chip Gholdengo. However, Gholdengo with Recover can outlast it. Alternatively, switching to Dragapult is very safe because Dragapult is faster and immune to Fighting. Dragapult would OHOH Annihilape with Draco Meteor (130 BP, super effective vs Ghost... wait, Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost, Dragon does nothing to Ghost/Fighting). Hmm, Draco Meteor is Dragon type, which does nothing to... no. Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost. Dragon type moves do nothing special against Fighting or Ghost. So Draco Meteor is neutral. Wait, let me reconsider. Dragapult's best move vs Annihilape: - Shadowball (Ghost) - super effective - Draco Meteor (Dragon) - neutral - Thunderbolt (Electric) - neutral Shadowball is super effective. Dragapult at 213 speed outspeeds Annihilape (max 156). So Dragapult would OHOH with Shadowball. Actually, let me calculate. Dragapult SpA 152, +Wiseglasses? No, Dragapult has Choice Scarf. With Choice Scarf, speed is boosted but not SpA. Dragapult Shadowball vs Annihilape: 80 BP, SpA 152, vs Annihilape SpD ~130ish. Super effective. This should be a solid hit but maybe not OHOH. Hmm, let me think about whether to keep Gholdengo in or switch. Current turn: My Gholdengo vs Annihilape. Options: 1. Shadowball (super effective) - could 2HKO or OHOH depending on set 2. Recover - heal, but I'm at full HP anyway 3. Switch to Dragapult - fast, immune to Fighting 4. Switch to Toxapex - wall Since Gholdengo is at full HP and immune to Fighting, and Shadowball is super effective, I could just attack. But if Annihilape has Spirit Shackle, it might do some damage. Actually, the smart play: Gholdengo is a great check to Annihilape. Immune to Fighting, high SpD, can Recover. Shadowball is super effective. Let me just go with Shadowball to try to KO or heavily damage. But wait - what if Annihilape has Close Combat? That does NOTHING to Gholdengo. So the only threat is a Ghost move or coverage like High Horsepower (Ground - neutral, but Gholdengo is Steel so Ground does nothing! Steel is immune to Ground). Oh wait! Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Steel is immune to Ground. So High Horsepower does nothing too! So the ONLY moves that can damage Gholdengo are: - Ghost moves (Spirit Shackle) - neutral, weak due to high SpD - Any other coverage... Annihilape coverage could include: - Close Combat (Fighting) - immune - Spirit Shackle (Ghost) - hits but weak - High Horsepower (Ground) - immune - U-turn - neutral - Knock Off (Dark) - neutral, but also steals item - Thunder Punch (Electric) - neutral - Fire Punch - neutral Hmm, so Gholdengo is really well suited to this matchup. The only real threat is a strong Ghost move or coverage. Given this, I think the best play is to attack with Shadowball (super effective) to try to KO Annihilape. If it survives, I can Recover next turn since Annihilape can barely hurt me. Actually, let me reconsider the risk. If Annihilape has Spirit Shackle and it does meaningful damage, and I attack, then next turn I might be at low HP. But I have Recover. And Annihilape can barely hurt me. Alternatively, I could switch to Dragapult which is faster and can KO. But that wastes a turn and Dragapult might not OHOH either. Let me estimate Shadowball damage: - My Gholdengo SpA 203 (with Wiseglasses 1.1x = ~223 effective? No, Wiseglasses is a multiplier on power, so effective SpA contribution) - Actually Wiseglasses multiplies the damage by 1.1 - Shadowball 80 BP, super effective (2x) - Annihilape SpD ~130 (mid range) - Damage ≈ ((2*162+10) * 80 * 203/130 / 50 + 2) * 1.1 * 1.0 (SE) * 1.0 (STAB? no, Shadowball isn't Annihilape's type... wait it's my move) Let me just estimate roughly. This is a lot of special attack vs moderate special defense. Super effective. This should do maybe 60-75% damage. So it might 2HKO, not OHOH. If I Shadowball and it doesn't KO, then Annihilape attacks. If it has Spirit Shackle, it does maybe 20-30% to Gholdengo. Then I Recover and it's fine. Actually, the cleanest play might be to switch to Dragapult. Dragapult at 213 speed OHOHs Annihilape with Shadowball or Draco Meteor. Let me check. Dragapult Shadowball vs Annihilape: - SpA 152, 80 BP, super effective - Annihilape SpD ~130 - Damage ≈ similar to above but lower SpA (152 vs 203) - Maybe 45-55% damage. Not OHOH. Dragapult Draco Meteor vs Annihilape: - 130 BP, neutral (Dragon vs Fighting/Ghost) - Maybe 55-65% damage. Not OHOH, and drops SpA. Hmm, so Dragapult doesn't OHOH either. Actually, let me reconsider. The safest and most consistent play is to keep Gholdengo in. It's immune to Fighting, Ground, and does minimal damage from Ghost. Shadowball is super effective and will heavily damage Annihilape. Even if it survives, Gholdengo can Recover and outlast. But there's a consideration: Annihilape's Defiant ability. If I lower its stats... but Shadowball can lower SpD. If I use Shadowball and it lowers Annihilape's SpD, Defiant would raise its Attack by 2. That's bad because then Annihilape's Close Combat... but Close Combat does nothing to Gholdengo. So Defiant doesn't matter here since I can't be hurt by Fighting. Wait, but if I switch to Dragapult and use Shadowball to lower SpD, Defiant raises Annihilape's Attack, and then Dragapult (not immune to Fighting... Dragapult is Dragon/Ghost, immune to Fighting and Normal). So Dragapult is also immune to Fighting. Defiant doesn't matter. OK so the matchup is really favorable for me. Let me just go with Shadowball to pressure Annihilape. Actually, thinking about it more, I want to preserve my team and control the pace. Gholdengo vs Annihilape is a great matchup. Let me attack with Shadowball. If it KOs, great. If not, I can Recover next turn. But actually, there's a subtle point. If I Shadowball and it doesn't KO, and Annihilape has Spirit Shackle, then I take some damage. But I can Recover. The issue is PP - Shadowball has 23/24 PP left (I used 1 last turn). That's fine. Let me also consider: should I Recover now? No, I'm at full HP. Wasteful. Should I switch to Toxapex? Toxapex is also immune to... no, Toxapex is Water/Poison. It's not immune to Fighting. Annihilape's Close Combat would hit Toxapex for neutral (Fighting vs Water/Poison - neutral). Actually Toxapex is very bulky though. But no need to switch when Gholdengo is doing well. Decision: Shadowball. It's super effective, and Gholdengo handles Annihilape well. Wait, let me reconsider one more time. The opponent's team: they've shown gholdengo (fainted), and now Annihilape. They still have one more from: kingambit, dragapult, toxapex, corviknight. Wait, they brought 3 of 6. One is fainted (gholdengo), one active (annihilape). So one more to come. Actually, they brought 3 total. Gholdengo fainted, Annihilape active. So 1 more on the team (kingambit, dragapult, toxapex, or corviknight - wait, that's 4 options but they brought 1 more). Hmm, the possible remaining: kingambit, dragapult, toxapex, corviknight. They brought 1 of these 4. My plan: deal with Annihilape, then face whatever comes next. If I KO Annihilape with Shadowball, next they bring their 3rd. Could be Kingambit, Dragapult, Toxapex, or Corviknight. - Kingambit: Dark/Steel. My Gholdengo vs Kingambit - neutral matchup. Kingambit could use Swords Dance + Shadow Claw/Knight's Charge. Gholdengo is immune to... Kingambit's moves are Dark/Steel. Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost, immune to... nothing special. Dark hits... Gholdengo is Ghost, Dark is neutral vs Ghost. Steel vs Steel neutral. Hmm. - Dragapult: fast, would trade with Gholdengo - Toxapex: wall vs wall - Corviknight: Flying/Steel Anyway, let me focus on the current turn. I'll go with Shadowball. Actually, let me reconsider whether to switch to Dragapult for a guaranteed fast hit. The problem is Dragapult doesn't OHOH either. And Gholdengo is a better check to the unknown 3rd Pokémon in some cases. Hmm, but actually, keeping Gholdengo in and attacking is the most natural play. Let me go with Shadowball. Wait, one concern: what if Annihilape has Close Combat? Then it does nothing to Gholdengo, and I freely attack. What if it has Spirit Shackle? It does minor damage but I can Recover. Either way, Shadowball is fine. Let me also think: is there any risk Annihilape OHKOs Gholdengo? Annihilape's best move would be... Spirit Shackle (Ghost, BP 80) - weak vs Gholdengo's SpD. Close Combat (Fighting) - immune. High Horsepower (Ground) - immune. So no, Annihilape cannot OHKO Gholdengo. The matchup is safe. Decision: MOVE: shadowball Let me write the notes. Actually, let me reconsider the whole thing once more. I want to make the optimal play. Turn 2: My Gholdengo vs Annihilape. - Gholdengo immune to Fighting (Close Combat), Ground (High Horsepower). - Only Ghost moves or coverage can damage. - Shadowball is super effective. - Gholdengo can Recover if needed. This is a favorable matchup. Attack with Shadowball. If it doesn't KO, next turn Recover and stall, or if Annihilape is weakened, finish it. I'm confident: MOVE: shadowball. Let me write concise notes.

RecoverOnly Toxapex remains; Gholdengo/Annihilape fainted. Opposing Gholdengo is at 17% but Good as Gold blocks Toxic/Haze and Toxapex has no attack. Expect Shadow Ball/switch. Take a hit then Recover to stall; if it switches, reassess the new lead.
Reasoning trace (2,652 words)
We need answer exact format. Need decide action. Let's analyze battle. We have active Toxapex full HP vs opposing Gholdengo at 17% HP, Good as Gold immune to status. Toxapex moves: toxic (status blocked by Good as Gold; also poison type immune? target Steel/Ghost not poison, but Good as Gold blocks status moves entirely), recover, protect, haze. Opposing Gholdengo likely faster (93-149 vs Toxapex 55) and will move first unless priority. Toxapex has no damaging moves. Need choose action. We need bring? No, mid battle. Legal actions only moves. We need pick best. Since Toxapex cannot damage Gholdengo and status blocked. Options: recover to heal (already full, useless but maybe waste turn), protect to scout/predict, haze (no stat changes on Gholdengo? It hasn't set up; but could remove if it Nasty Plots? It likely will attack). Opposing Gholdengo at 17% likely will use Shadow Ball next, which is super effective vs Toxapex? Ghost vs Poison/Water: Ghost is neutral to Poison? Ghost is not very effective? Let's recall type chart: Ghost vs Poison = neutral (1x), vs Water = neutral. So Shadow Ball neutral special. Toxapex high SpD 164, HP 157. Opposing Gholdengo SpA maybe 137-203. Shadow Ball 80 at level 50. Could do significant but maybe not KO? Need estimate. At 17% HP, Gholdengo might be at ~27-33 HP. It may Shadow Ball and Toxapex can survive? Then Toxapex cannot KO (no attack). It might be better to protect to avoid damage and maybe let Sitrus? Sitrus only at <=1/2 when hit? Actually Sitrus Berry restores when HP <= 1/2 max after taking damage? In Showdown, item activates when HP is 1/2 or less at end of turn? It says restores when at 1/2 max HP or less. If full, no. Protect could scout if Gholdengo attacks or switches. But if Gholdengo is low, it might switch out to bring in one of 2 unseen. However in Pokémon Showdown, if active Pokemon is at low HP and opponent has Toxapex that can't damage, likely Gholdengo will attack to try to KO Toxapex before switching, or switch out to preserve. We need plan long-term. Our team: Gholdengo and Annihilape fainted. Only Toxapex remains alive? We brought 3: Gholdengo, Annihilape, Toxapex. Both others fainted. If Toxapex faints, we lose? In singles one Pokémon on field per side; each player brought 3. If all faint, lose. We have only Toxapex left. Opponent has Gholdengo active at 17% plus 2 more to come. We cannot win unless Toxapex can outlast/KO? Toxapex has no attacking moves, cannot damage Gholdengo. Haze removes stat changes but no damage. Toxic blocked by Good as Gold. Recover/protect only stall. Eventually Gholdengo can KO Toxapex with Shadow Ball(s). But maybe if we protect, Gholdengo at 17% might use Shadow Ball and fail to KO; Toxapex can recover? But no way to damage. Could use Haze if Gholdengo uses Nasty Plot; but it likely attacks. Since Good as Gold blocks status, Toxapex is setup fodder if Gholdengo uses Nasty Plot/Recover? But Gholdengo at 17% probably won't set up; it will attack or switch. Need choose among legal actions. We need maximize chance. Since Toxapex cannot damage and status blocked, maybe use Protect to scout and avoid damage this turn. If opponent switches in a new Pokémon, we can then maybe Toxic/Haze etc depending. But if opponent attacks, protect avoids damage. However if opponent Gholdengo uses Shadow Ball and Toxapex protects, no damage; Gholdengo remains at 17%. Next turn we still can't damage. But maybe opponent will switch out after protect? Not necessarily. Protect has priority +4 but only prevents moves affecting user this turn; if opponent uses a status move blocked by Good as Gold anyway? Protect doesn't matter. If opponent uses Shadow Ball, protect blocks. Good. Could use Recover: at full HP, no effect (maybe message fails). Bad. Could use Toxic: blocked by Good as Gold, fails. Could use Haze: status move, blocked by Good as Gold? Haze is status; Good as Gold makes user immune to status moves. Does Haze target opposing Pokémon and is a status move; Good as Gold blocks it. It would fail. Also no stat changes. So only Protect has possible utility (avoid Shadow Ball). But if Gholdengo is going to switch out, Protect wastes turn but no harm except opponent brings in a threat and we can't act until next turn. Still better than failing moves? Recover at full also fails? In games, using Recover at full HP fails (no heal) but turn consumed. Protect at least can block attack. Need consider if Toxapex can poison Gholdengo via Toxic despite Good as Gold? No, Good as Gold blocks status moves. Poison type can't miss refers to Toxic accuracy vs Poison targets, but status blocked. So no. Could Toxapex use Haze to remove Gholdengo's possible stat boosts if it Nasty Plots while at 17%? But Good as Gold blocks Haze. Actually Good as Gold: immune to status moves. Haze is a status move that affects all stat changes on both sides? In Showdown, Haze is a status move; Good as Gold blocks it? It says immune to status moves. Yes. Even if not blocked, Haze would clear boosts but no damage. Not useful. Need formulate notes at most 60 words. Need include memory and plan. Since next turns fresh, notes should carry: Gholdengo/Annihilape fainted; Toxapex only Pokémon left; cannot damage opposing Gholdengo (17%) due no attacks and Good as Gold blocks Toxic/Haze; expect Shadow Ball/switch; Protect to scout/avoid hit; if it switches, adapt to new lead; no winning damage unless opponent misplays, stall/regenerator? Wait Toxapex item Sitrus Berry and ability Regenerator. Regenerator only when switches out, but we cannot switch (no other alive). If Toxapex faints, battle lost. There is no switch. So we must not faint. Protect can avoid one hit. But Shadow Ball may not KO; then we can keep protecting? Eventually Struggle? No, PP. Protect PP 16, recover PP 8. If we keep protecting, opponent can keep attacking; Protect success chance may decrease if consecutive? In Pokémon, Protect has decreasing success if used consecutively without other moves? There is a mechanic: chance halves each consecutive use of protect/detect/etc (unless certain). But over few turns okay. However if we never attack, opponent can set up or switch to a Pokémon that can beat Toxapex. But we have no choice. Could there be a possibility to win by forcing opposing Gholdengo to struggle? It has Shadow Ball PP 24/24, at 17% maybe not. No. Need maybe choose Recover? At full HP, using Recover could be a bluff? No. In Showdown, if at full HP, Recover fails but still counts as move used; no protection. Protect is only action that can prevent damage. Since opponent moves first and likely Shadow Ball, Protect is best. But let's think: Opposing Gholdengo at 17% HP, active. It knows Toxapex has no attacking moves. It might switch out to bring in a teammate that can handle Toxapex (e.g., Corviknight, Dragapult, Kingambit, Annihilape, Toxapex). If we Protect and it switches, we face a new Pokémon with Toxapex full. Depending on what comes in, Toxapex can Toxic/Haze/Recover. But if it's Corviknight, Toxapex can Toxic (unless Corviknight has? not immune to poison? Flying/Steel is not poison/steel? Steel is immune to Poison, so Toxic fails on Corviknight due type immunity? Toxic is Poison status; Steel types are immune to poison. So Toxic fails on Corviknight. Haze can remove boosts; Toxapex can Recover. Corviknight can attack with Body Press/Iron Head etc. Toxapex can maybe survive and haze. If Dragapult comes in, Toxapex can Toxic (Dragapult Dragon/Ghost not immune to poison; Good as Gold only on Gholdengo; Dragapult may have Infiltrator/Cursed Body/Clear Body; Toxic can poison unless it has? no). Then Regenerator if switch out but no switch. Toxapex can stall Dragapult with Toxic+Recover, but Dragapult can Phantom Force/Dragon Dart etc. Toxapex has high defenses but no damage; poison chip may eventually kill if Dragapult stays. But Dragapult likely switches. If Kingambit comes, Toxic fails? Dark/Steel: Steel immune to poison, so Toxic fails. Haze can remove Supreme Overlord boosts? Kingambit may have attack boosts from fallen allies? In this format, Supreme Overlord boosts based on fallen teammates; Gholdengo and Annihilape? Opponent has no fainted yet? Actually opponent's Gholdengo active at 17, no opponent Pokémon fainted. Our two fainted don't count for opponent's Supreme Overlord (only their fallen allies). Kingambit could be strong with Sucker Punch priority; Toxapex can maybe survive? Not sure. If Annihilape comes, Toxapex can Toxic? Fighting/Ghost not immune to poison; but Annihilape has Defiant, Rage Fist; Toxapex can Toxic and haze? Rage Fist boosts when hit; Toxapex can take hits and maybe poison. But Toxapex cannot damage; Annihilape can drain punch etc. If opposing Toxapex comes, stall war. But immediate action: Protect. Need maybe mention if Gholdengo stays and attacks, Protect scouts; if it switches, reassess. Since notes limited 60 words. Need include exact format. The decision line: MOVE: protect. No mega. Need not include number. Ensure answer exactly has <notes>...</notes> then <decision>...</decision>. No extra text. Need consider if using Protect when opponent's Gholdengo at 17% might be a bad idea because it can use Shadow Ball and if Protect fails due consecutive? Not consecutive yet. Fine. Could use Haze despite Good as Gold? It would fail, but maybe Haze is not blocked by Good as Gold? Let's verify: Good as Gold (Gholdengo ability) makes it immune to status moves. It also blocks moves like Taunt, Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, Spikes? It blocks status moves targeting it. Haze is a status move but does it target the user or all Pokémon? In Showdown, Haze has target: all adjacent foes? Actually Haze: "Eliminates all stat changes." It affects all Pokémon on the field? In game, Haze resets stat stages of all active Pokémon? Let's recall: Haze removes all stat changes from all Pokémon in battle (both sides?) In Pokémon, Haze eliminates stat changes of all Pokémon on the field? I think Haze affects all active Pokémon (both sides) maybe not foes only? Showdown move Haze: target: allAdjacentFoes? Hmm. Need know if Good as Gold blocks Haze. Good as Gold: "This Pokémon is immune to status moves." If Haze is a status move, even if it affects all, can it affect Gholdengo? It would be a status move used by Toxapex; Good as Gold likely makes Gholdengo immune to being affected by status moves. But Haze's effect is not a volatile on target; it clears boosts. Does Good as Gold prevent own stat changes from being cleared by opponent's Haze? I believe yes? Let's recall mechanics: Good as Gold blocks status moves, including moves like Haze? In Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Gholdengo's Good as Gold makes it immune to status moves. It does not prevent Haze from clearing its stat boosts? Haze is a status move that targets the user? Actually Haze in-game: "The user releases a haze that eliminates all stat changes." It affects all Pokémon in battle? If used by opponent, can it clear Gholdengo's boosts despite Good as Gold? I need be certain. Good as Gold description: "The Pokémon is immune to status moves." It blocks status moves directed at it. Haze is not directed at a single target; but in Showdown, moves have targets. Haze target might be "allAdjacentFoes" or "all"? Let's recall from Showdown dex: Haze: accuracy true, basePower 0, category Status, desc "Eliminates all stat changes." shortDesc "Eliminates all stat changes." target: "allAdjacentFoes"? I think many stat-clearing moves like Haze target "allAdjacentFoes"? Wait Haze in singles clears both active Pokémon's stat stages? In game, if your Pokémon uses Haze, it removes stat changes from both your active Pokémon and the opponent's active Pokémon? I have used Haze to remove opponent's boosts and your own drops; yes it clears all stat changes on the field (both sides). In Showdown, target might be "all" (all active Pokémon). If so, Good as Gold may not protect Gholdengo from Haze because Haze isn't targeting it? But ability says immune to status moves; if a status move would affect it, it's immune. However Haze's effect is global; can an ability make a Pokémon immune to a global status move? Examples: Magic Bounce reflects status moves targeted at the user; Haze? If Haze targets all, Magic Bounce? Not sure. Good as Gold likely blocks status moves that target the Pokémon, but Haze may not be considered targeting. Need not choose Haze anyway because no stat changes to clear and it doesn't damage. If Gholdengo later Nasty Plots while at low HP, Haze could clear boosts if not blocked, but it can still attack. Not now. Could Toxapex use Toxic on Gholdengo despite Good as Gold? No. Could Toxic fail due to Steel type? Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost; Steel is immune to Poison, and Good as Gold blocks status. Double fail. Need maybe consider that opposing Gholdengo at 17% with Leftovers? Item unknown. If it has Leftovers, at end of turn recovers 6.25%, maybe to ~23%. Still low. If it uses Shadow Ball and Toxapex protects, no damage; at end of turn Leftovers maybe. Not relevant. Need maybe think about win condition: We have no Pokémon that can damage opposing Gholdengo except Toxapex cannot. Actually Toxapex has no attacking moves at all. It cannot ever damage Gholdengo. If Gholdengo stays in, it can eventually kill Toxapex. But if we Protect, Gholdengo may switch out because it can't afford to stay? It can still attack Toxapex; Shadow Ball may not KO but over time can. Toxapex can Recover to heal damage. Wait Toxapex has Recover and Sitrus/Regenerator. It can heal 50% each turn. If Shadow Ball does less than 50%, Toxapex can Recover back to full next turn (but Gholdengo moves first; if Toxapex uses Recover after taking damage, can heal). However Toxapex cannot damage Gholdengo, so it's a stall loop: Gholdengo attacks, Toxapex recovers. But Gholdengo has finite PP (Shadow Ball 24) and Toxapex has Recover 8, Protect 16. If Gholdengo keeps Shadow Ball, Toxapex can Recover when damaged; but if Toxapex uses Recover while at full now, no. Better: take a hit? We don't know damage. If Shadow Ball does ~40-60%, Toxapex can Recover next turn to full (after Gholdengo attacks). But Gholdengo moves first each turn; sequence: Turn 3 if we Protect, no damage. Turn 4 we could Recover (still full) useless or Protect again. If instead Turn 3 we let Gholdengo attack (choose Recover? no, Recover happens after opponent move; if we choose Recover, Gholdengo attacks first, damages Toxapex, then Toxapex heals 50%. That might be better than Protect? Let's examine: If we choose Recover at full HP, opponent moves first with Shadow Ball, dealing damage D. Then Toxapex uses Recover, healing 50% of max (78 HP). If D < 78, Toxapex ends near full (HP - D + 78, capped at 157). If D > 78, ends below full but healed. This is actually a good way to heal after taking damage, whereas Protect avoids damage but doesn't heal (already full). Since Toxapex is full now, using Recover allows us to take a hit then heal 50%, potentially ending at full if D <=78. If D >78, end at 157 - D + 78 = 235 - D. If D=100, end 55 (35%). If D=120, end 15 (10%) maybe Sitrus? no. If D can KO, then Recover won't matter if fainted. Need estimate Shadow Ball damage to Toxapex. Opposing Gholdengo stats: HP 162-194, at 17% means current HP around 28-33 if HP stat maybe 178? But damage depends SpA. Level 50, move Shadow Ball BP 80, SpA range 137-203, Toxapex SpD 164, HP 157. Need calculate approximate damage. Use damage formula: damage = floor(floor(floor(floor((2*50/5 + 2) * A * BP / D) / 50) + 2) * modifier). Level term = (2*50/5 +2)=22. So base = floor(floor(22 * A * 80 / D) /50)+2. If A=203 (max), D=164: 22*203*80 = 357,280; /164 = 2178.536; floor=2178; /50=43.56 floor=43; +2=
Ornith 1.5 35B usedShadowballMirror match. I've fainted their Gholdengo and Annihilape. Now facing their Toxapex (100%). My Gholdengo is at 17.9% but Toxapex's standard set (Toxic/Baneful Bunker/Recover/Haze) can't damage it—GoodasGold blocks status, Steel blocks Poison Jab. Shadowball is super effective (~40-55%); two hits kill it. Toxapex can't hurt me, so press the attack.
Reasoning trace (2,172 words)
Let me analyze this situation carefully. Current state: - My Gholdengo at 29/162 HP (17.9%), facing opponent's Toxapex - Opponent's Toxapex at 100% HP My Gholdengo is very low on HP. Toxapex is a wall. Let me think about what's happening. Toxapex's moves are unknown. It could have Toxic, Baneful Bunker, Recover, Haze. My Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP. Toxapex is a physical/special wall. My Shadowball is super effective vs Toxapex (Poison/Water - Ghost is super effective vs Poison). Wait, actually Toxapex is Poison/Water. Ghost is super effective vs Poison. So Shadowball would be super effective. But wait, can my Gholdengo kill Toxapex with Shadowball? Toxapex has high Defense (154-224). Let me estimate. My Gholdengo SpA = 203, with Wiseglasses 1.1x = ~223. Shadowball BP 80. Toxapex SpD = 145-213. Let's say around 180. Damage = ((2*50/5+2) * 80 * 223/180) / 50 ... let me just roughly estimate. Actually, Toxapex is a special wall usually. My Shadowball special vs Toxapex's SpD. Let me compute. Damage formula: ((2 * Level / 5 + 2) * Power * A / D) / 50 + 2 Level 50, Power 80, A = 203 * 1.1 = 223.3, D = SpD of Toxapex. If Toxapex SpD is ~180: = ((2*50/5+2) * 80 * 223.3/180) / 50 + 2 = ((20+2) * 80 * 1.24) / 50 + 2 = (22 * 80 * 1.24) / 50 + 2 = (2182) / 50 + 2 = 43.6 + 2 = 45.6 Hmm wait let me redo. A/D = 223.3/180 = 1.24. (22 * 80 * 1.24) = 2182. /50 = 43.6 + 2 = 45.6. Toxapex HP = 125-157. So 45.6 damage out of ~157 HP = ~29%. With super effective (1.5x) = ~44% of HP. So one Shadowball does about 44% to Toxapex. Two Shadowballs would kill it. But my Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP and Toxapex could kill it with Toxic or a Hit. Wait, but Toxapex doesn't have a great offensive move. Its moves are Toxic, Baneful Bunker, Recover, Haze. It has low Attack (74-126). A physical attack from Toxapex... but it's a special wall usually. Actually Toxapex's only physical move would be... it doesn't have many. Baneful Bunker is a protective move. Toxic is status. Recover is healing. Haze is status. So Toxapex's offensive options are limited. It could use Toxic (but my Gholdengo has GoodasGold, immune to status!). So Toxapex can't Toxic my Gholdengo. Wait, my Gholdengo has GoodasGold ability - immune to status moves. So Toxic won't work. Baneful Bunker would give my Gholdengo a poison/burn... no wait, Baneful Bunker inflicts poison or burn on the attacker. My Gholdengo is immune to status, so Baneful Bunker won't affect it. So Toxapex's only way to damage my Gholdengo is... it has no damaging moves really. Toxic, Baneful Bunker, Recover, Haze - none of these deal damage. Actually, could Toxapex have some other move? The revealed moves are "None yet" for Toxapex. But based on typical Toxapex sets, it has Toxic, Baneful Bunker, Recover, Haze. Hmm, but actually Toxapex could have some coverage. But let's assume standard. So the question is: should I attack with my low HP Gholdengo or switch to Dragapult/Toxapex? If I attack with Shadowball: - I do ~44% to Toxapex - Toxapex can't damage my Gholdengo (no damaging moves, immune to status) - So next turn I can Shadowball again and kill Toxapex, then face Kingambit or Corviknight or Dragapult Wait, but actually, can Toxapex damage my Gholdengo at all? Let me reconsider. Toxapex's movepool: Acid, Acid Armor, Baneful Bunker, Clear Smog, Constrict, Curse, Dark Pulse, Defog, Disable, Encore, Haze, Heal Block, Hidden Power, Memento, Misty Terrain, Pain Split, Poison Jab, Poison Sting, Poison Tail, Protect, Recover, Scald, Spikes, Spider Web, Stun Spore, Substitute, Toxic, Toxic Spikes, Water Gun, Water Pulse. So Toxapex could have Poison Jab (physical, Fighting... no, Poison type). Poison Jab is a physical Poison move. My Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Steel is immune to Poison! So Poison Jab wouldn't damage my Gholdengo. What about Dark Pulse? Dark Pulse is a special Dark move. My Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Ghost is immune to... no, Ghost is immune to Normal and Fighting. Dark can damage Ghost. Wait, Dark moves are not very effective vs Ghost? No. Let me recall type matchups. Ghost type: weak to Ghost and Dark. Resists Poison and Bug. Immune to Fighting and Normal. So Dark Pulse WOULD damage my Gholdengo (super effective vs Ghost). But would a standard Toxapex run Dark Pulse? Unlikely. Standard Toxapex runs Toxic, Baneful Bunker, Recover, Haze. Sometimes Spikes, Stun Spore, etc. Actually, in the current format, the most common Toxapex set is Toxic/Baneful Bunker/Recover/Haze. So I'll assume that. Given that, my Gholdengo can't be damaged by Toxapex (immune to status via GoodasGold, and no damaging moves). So I should attack. But wait, there's a risk. If Toxapex uses Baneful Bunker, and I attack, my Gholdengo would get poisoned/burned... but it's immune to status. So no. If Toxapex uses Recover, it heals. Then I attack again. Actually, the safest play: My Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP. If I attack with Shadowball, I do ~44%. Toxapex can't hurt me. Next turn, if Toxapex recovers, I Shadowball again and kill it. If Toxapex doesn't recover, I kill it this turn (44% + ... wait, 44% isn't a kill). Hmm, let me recompute. 44% of HP per Shadowball. So I need 2 Shadowballs to kill. But Toxapex might Recover in between. Actually, let me reconsider the damage. Let me be more careful. My Gholdengo: SpA 203, Wiseglasses 1.1x bonus. Effective SpA = 223.3. Shadowball: BP 80, Ghost type, super effective vs Poison (Toxapex is Poison/Water). Toxapex SpD: 145-213. Let me use a mid value. Toxapex base SpD is 152. At level 50 with a Calibrated... actually let me just use the range. Let's say SpD around 180-200 for a special wall. Damage = ((2*50/5+2) * 80 * (203*1.1) / SpD) / 50 + 2 = (22 * 80 * 223.3 / SpD) / 50 + 2 = (393008 / SpD) / 50 + 2 = 7860 / SpD + 2 If SpD = 180: 7860/180 + 2 = 43.7 + 2 = 45.7 If SpD = 200: 7860/200 + 2 = 39.3 + 2 = 41.3 Super effective multiplier 1.5. Random factor 0.85-1.0. If SpD = 180: damage = 45.7 * 1.5 * (0.85 to 1.0) = 58.4 to 68.5 Toxapex HP = 125-157. So 58.4/157 = 37% to 68.5/125 = 55%. So one Shadowball does ~37-55% to Toxapex. Two Shadowballs would definitely kill it (unless it recovers). So the plan: Shadowball now (~40-55%), then Shadowball again next turn to kill. Toxapex can't damage my Gholdengo. But wait, if Toxapex recovers this turn, then I need to account for that. If Toxapex uses Recover, it goes back to ~100% + my 40-55% = still ~45-60% HP. Then I Shadowball and kill it. Actually, the concern is: should I switch to Dragapult instead? Dragapult is fast (213 speed) and could OHKO Toxapex with... hmm, Shadowball is super effective vs Toxapex. Dragapult's Shadowball would do more damage due to higher SpA (152 vs Gholdengo's 203... wait Gholdengo has higher SpA). Actually my Gholdengo has 203 SpA, Dragapult has 152 SpA. So Gholdengo's Shadowball does more damage. But Gholdengo is at low HP. The real question: is my Gholdengo in danger? Toxapex can't damage it (assuming standard set). So I can safely attack. But there's a subtle risk: what if Toxapex has some coverage move? Let me think about what's realistic. In a mirror match scenario, the opponent's Toxapex is likely the standard Toxic/Baneful Bunker/Haze/Recover set. So no damaging moves. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider. The opponent's Toxapex item is "unknown_item". Hmm. And ability unknown. But the possible abilities are Merciless, Limber, Regenerator. Merciless makes attacks crit when poisoned - but that's for Toxapex's attacks, not relevant here. OK here's my decision. My Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP but Toxapex can't damage it (immune to status, and no damaging moves in standard set). So I should attack with Shadowball to chip Toxapex, then kill it next turn. But actually, is there a risk that Toxapex kills my Gholdengo? Only if it has a damaging move. Poison Jab (Poison) - immune due to Steel. Dark Pulse (Dark) - super effective vs Ghost. But standard Toxapex doesn't run Dark Pulse. Hmm, but I should consider: what if I switch to Dragapult to be safe? Dragapult would face Toxapex. Dragapult is faster. But Dragapult is locked into... no, it has Choice Scarf, so if I switch to it, I can choose any move. Dragapult's Shadowball would do ~? Dragapult SpA 152, no item boost (Choice Scarf boosts speed). Shadowball vs Toxapex: Damage = (22 * 80 * 152 / SpD) / 50 + 2 = 267520 / SpD / 50 + 2 = 5350/SpD + 2 If SpD = 180: 5350/180 + 2 = 29.7 + 2 = 31.7, * 1.5 SE = 47.6, * 0.85-1.0 = 40-48. So Dragapult's Shadowball does ~40-48% to Toxapex. Similar to Gholdengo. But Dragapult is a Dragon/Ghost, weak to... Dragon, Ice, Fairy, Ghost. Toxapex has none of those. So Dragapult is safe vs Toxapex too. Hmm, but the issue is what comes next. After Toxapex, the opponent switches to Kingambit or Corviknight or Dragapult. Let me think about the overall strategy. I've fainted opponent's Gholdengo and Annihilape. Opponent has Toxapex (active), plus Kingambit, Dragapult, Corviknight (2 more, since they brought 3). Wait, opponent brought 3 Pokémon. They've used Gholdengo (fainted), Annihilape (fainted), and now Toxapex. So opponent has 2 more: from Kingambit, Dragapult, Corviknight. So after I deal with Toxapex, I'll face one of Kingambit/Dragapult/Corviknight, then the last one. My team: Toxapex, Gholdengo (low HP), Dragapult. If I keep Gholdengo and kill Toxapex, then I face Kingambit or Corviknight or Dragapult with a low HP Gholdengo. Kingambit: Dark/Steel. Strong physical attacker. Would outpower my low HP Gholdengo. Gholdengo is Ghost/Steel - immune to... Kingambit's moves would be Sword Dance, Sickle Strike, Kowtow Cleave, Dark Pulse, etc. Kowtow Cleave is Dark (super effective vs Ghost). Sickle Strike is Steel (not very effective vs Steel). Dark Pulse is Dark (super effective vs Ghost). So Kingambit could hurt my low HP Gholdengo. Corviknight: Flying/Steel. Resists a lot. My Gholdengo's moves: Shadowball (Ghost, not very effective vs... Corviknight is Flying/Steel, Ghost not effective vs Flying/Steel? Ghost is not very effective vs Steel? Actually Ghost does nothing... no. Let me recall. Ghost vs Steel: not very effective (0.5x)? Actually Ghost moves vs Steel-type: Steel resists Ghost? No. Let me recall type defenses. Steel resists: Normal, Grass, Ice, Bug, Rock, Dragon, Steel, Fairy, and is immune to Poison. Also... hmm. Actually Steel resists many types. Does Steel resist Ghost? Type effectiveness: - Ghost attacks vs Steel: Steel does not resist Ghost. Actually, Ghost is not very effective vs... let me think. Ghost vs Normal: nothing (immune). Ghost vs Ghost: super effective. Ghost vs Dark: nothing (Dark immune to Ghost). Ghost vs Steel: I believe Ghost is not very effective vs Steel? No wait. Let me recall. Steel's resistances: Steel resists Normal, Grass, Ice, Bug, Rock, Dragon, Steel, Fairy. And is immune to Poison. Also Electric and Water... no. Actually in current gen, Steel resists: Normal, Grass, Ice, Bug, Rock, Dragon, Steel, Fairy. Immune to Poison. Hmm, does Steel resist Ghost? I don't think so. Let me reconsider. Actually, I recall that Steel does NOT resist Ghost. Ghost moves hit Steel normally (1x). Wait, no. Let me think about Gholdengo's Flash Cannon (Steel) vs various. Actually, the key point: my Gholdengo's Flash Cannon is Steel type. vs Corviknight (Flying/Steel): Steel vs Steel = not very effective (0.5x). Steel vs Flying = 1x. So Flash Cannon is 0.5x vs Corviknight. Shadowball (Ghost) vs Corviknight: Ghost vs Flying/Steel. If Ghost is 1x vs both, then 1x. But I'm not sure. Hmm, this is getting complicated. Let me focus on the immediate decision. Immediate decision: Turn 3, facing opponent's Toxapex. My Gholdengo at 17.9% HP. Option 1: Shadowball - chip Toxapex (~40-55%), then kill next turn. Risk: Toxapex has a damaging move I don't expect. Option 2: Recover - heal Gholdengo to ~55%. But Toxapex heals too, and I'm not making progress. Option 3: Switch to Dragapult - safe, but I'm not making progress on Toxapex. Option 4: Switch to Toxapex - my Toxapex vs their Toxapex, a walling match. Given that my Gholdengo is immune to status and Toxapex likely has no damaging moves, attacking with Shadowball seems best. I chip it and kill it next turn. But wait, there's a consideration: if I Shadowball now and Toxapex recovers, then next turn I Shadowball and kill it. But my Gholdengo is at low HP. If Toxapex somehow damages me... but it can't (standard set). Actually, let me reconsider whether Toxapex could OHKO my Gholdengo. No, Toxapex has no damaging moves in standard set. Even if it had Poison Jab, my GholdThinking budget reached. Stop thinking and give your final answer now.

ProtectToxapex at full HP, SpD -1. Opposing Gholdengo at 17% with Good as Gold (blocks Toxic/Haze). Gholdengo moves first. Protect to avoid Shadow Ball and scout whether it switches or attacks. Sitrus Berry available if HP drops to 50%.
Reasoning trace (307 words)
Let me analyze the current situation: 1. My Toxapex is at full HP (157/157) with SpD -1 boost 2. Opposing Gholdengo is at 17% HP with Good as Gold ability (immune to status moves) 3. Gholdengo moves first (speed 93-149 vs my 55) Legal actions: - toxic: Won't work due to Good as Gold - recover: Heals 50% HP - protect: Protects from moves this turn - haze: Won't work due to Good as Gold (and would remove my own SpD -1 anyway) Since Gholdengo is at 17% and will likely use Shadow Ball, I should either: - Protect to avoid damage and potentially let Sitrus Berry activate if I get low - Recover to heal back to full (already at full, so this is wasted) Actually, I'm at full HP already. Recover would be wasted. Protect makes sense to avoid the Shadow Ball damage. Since Gholdengo is at 17%, it might switch out or attack. Protect is the safest play. Wait, let me think about this more carefully. Gholdengo at 17% is very low. It might: 1. Use Shadow Ball (likely KO or significant damage to Toxapex) 2. Switch out to bring in another Pokémon If I use Protect, I avoid damage and can see what it does. If it switches, I can then set up Toxic or Haze on the switch-in (though Good as Gold only applies to Gholdengo). Actually, since I'm at full HP and Gholdengo is at 17%, Shadow Ball might not KO me. Let me calculate roughly: - Gholdengo SpA: 137-203 (let's assume around 160-180) - Shadow Ball: 80 BP - Toxapex SpD: 164 base, but -1 boost At level 50, the damage formula is complex, but Shadow Ball from a boosted Gholdengo could do significant damage. Protect seems safest. I'll go with Protect to scout what Gholdengo does and avoid damage.
Ornith 1.5 35B switched toDragapultOpponent's full team was the 3 they brought: Gholdengo and Annihilape are fainted, so only their Toxapex remains. My Gholdengo (GoodasGold + Steel) cannot be damaged by Toxapex at all. But Shadowball (43%) < Recover (50%), so it loops and heals — I can't kill it this way. Need Dragapult's super-effective Thunderbolt instead.
Reasoning trace (2,271 words)
My Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP. Toxapex is at 100% but has Spd -1. Shadowball is super effective and already used twice (57% then recovered). Let me think. Toxapex has Recover. If I Shadowball now, it goes to ~57% (from turn 3 it was at 57% after one shadowball). Wait, turn 3 it was at 57% after one shadowball. Now it's at 100% (recovered). So one Shadowball brings it to ~57%, two to faint. But Toxapex can Recover again or Toxic. Actually Toxapex's Toxic would be blocked by GoodasGold. Toxapex can't damage my Gholdengo. So I can just keep attacking. But my Gholdengo is low at 17.9%. Toxapex can't hurt it though. So I can Shadowball twice to kill Toxapex. Actually, let me consider: Toxapex has Recover. If I Shadowball, Toxapex at 57%, then it can Recover to 100% again. That's a stall. But eventually Toxic? No, status immune. Actually the issue: Toxapex can just Recover every turn, and I can't kill it quickly because it heals. But my Gholdengo can't be hurt by Toxapex. So I could just stall too, but that wastes turns. Actually, I want to bring in Dragapult to clean up. Wait, the opponent still has Kingambit, Dragapult, Corviknight (3 brought, Gholdengo and Annihilape fainted, so Toxapex + 2 more). Actually they brought 3 total. Gholdengo and Annihilape are fainted. So Toxapex is one of the 3. That means only 2 more: from Kingambit/Dragapult/Corviknight. Wait, they brought 3 of 6. Two are fainted (Gholdengo, Annihilape). So the 3rd is Toxapex. So opponent has exactly 2 more Pokémon: Toxapex + 2 others? No wait. They brought 3 total. Currently on field: Toxapex. Fainted: Gholdengo, Annihilape. That's 3 total accounted for. So opponent has NO more Pokémon? Wait, that's 3: Gholdengo, Annihilape, Toxapex. So the opponent's team is exactly these 3! Wait, but the opponent brought 3 of 6. The 3 they brought: Gholdengo (fainted), Annihilape (fainted), Toxapex (active). So opponent has only Toxapex left! That means I just need to beat Toxapex. Hmm, but wait — is that right? Let me re-read. "The opponent brought 3 of the 6 it showed at team preview: all have been seen." So all 3 they brought have been seen: Gholdengo, Annihilape, Toxapex. Gholdengo and Annihilape are fainted. Toxapex is active. So opponent has only Toxapex remaining. So I need to defeat Toxapex. My Gholdengo at 17.9% can't be hurt by Toxapex (Toxic blocked by GoodasGold, Baneful Bunker does damage but... wait Baneful Bunker is a physical move, and it does 15% damage if hit. But my Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost, immune to Poison, and Baneful Bunker is Poison-type physical — Ghost immune? No, Baneful Bunker is Poison type. Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Steel is immune to Poison! So Baneful Bunker does nothing. Good. Also Toxapex's Attack is low (74), and my Def is 115. Even if Baneful Bunker connected, Steel immune to Poison. So Toxapex literally cannot damage my Gholdengo. So I can just Shadowball Toxapex repeatedly. It'll Recover, but eventually runs out of PP or I just outlast it. Actually, Toxapex with Recover can stall indefinitely if I don't pressure it. But Toxapex has limited Recover PP (8 with bigroot? no that's my Toxapex). Toxapex's Recover PP... standard is 8/8 or with some item. Actually the opponent Toxapex item is unknown. But here's the thing: if I just Shadowball, Toxapex Recovers, and we loop. Eventually Toxapex runs out of Recover PP and I kill it. But that could take many turns. Alternatively, I switch to Dragapult which is a clean sweeper. But Dragapult taking hits from... Toxapex can't hurt Dragapult either (Toxic blocked? No, Dragapult doesn't have GoodasGold. Toxic would poison it). Hmm. Actually, the cleanest approach: My Gholdengo can just Shadowball Toxapex. Toxapex Recovers. But wait — if Toxapex Recovers, it stays at 100%. My Shadowball does ~43% (from 100% to 57%). Two Shadowballs = faint. But Toxapex Recovers between. So it loops. Actually, let me reconsider. The key insight: Toxapex can only Recover a limited number of times. If it starts at 100% and I Shadowball (43%), it's at 57%. It Recovers to 100%. Next turn I Shadowball again to 57%, it Recovers to 100%. This loops until Recover PP runs out. Toxapex Recover PP is typically 8 (full) or could be less. Actually with the standard set, Recover has 8 PP normally, or 24/48 with... no. Standard Recover is 8 PP. Wait, my Toxapex has haze 48/48 (PP Up x3) and recover 8/8. So Recover base is 8 PP. So Toxapex can Recover 8 times. Each time I Shadowball it drops to 57%, it heals to 100%. After 8 Recovers (8 turns of healing), on the 9th turn it can't Recover, so my Shadowball kills it. That's a lot of turns but safe. Alternatively, I could switch to Dragapult. But Dragapult would need to deal with Toxapex. Dragapult's moves: Draco Meteor, Shadowball, Thunderbolt, Dragon Pulse. Shadowball is super effective vs Toxapex (Ghost vs Poison/Water — Ghost is super effective vs Ghost, but Toxapex is Poison/Water, so Ghost is NOT super effective vs Toxapex). Wait, Toxapex is Poison/Water. Ghost moves are super effective vs Ghost only. Toxapex has no Ghost typing. So Shadowball is neutral vs Toxapex. Draco Meteor, Dragon Pulse neutral. Thunderbolt is super effective vs Water! So Thunderbolt would be super effective. But Dragapult switching in takes a hit? No, Toxapex can't hurt Dragapult except... Toxic (would poison Dragapult), Baneful Bunker (physical, Dragapult Def 95, Toxapex Atk 74... Baneful Bunker BP 65, would do some damage but Dragapult is not immune). Actually Baneful Bunker is a contact move; Dragapult isn't immune. But would it OHKO? Toxapex Atk 74, Dragapult Def 95, BP 65. Damage ~ (some small amount). Probably not a KO but could hurt. Also Toxic. Hmm. Actually the safest is to just keep my Gholdengo and Shadowball. But the looping Recover is annoying. Wait, actually — can I just switch to Dragapult and let it sweep the rest? No, opponent only has Toxapex left. So I need to kill Toxapex. Let me think about the most efficient kill. My Gholdengo at 17.9%. If I Shadowball Toxapex (57%), it Recovers (100%). Loop. This is safe but slow. Actually, is there a risk? Toxapex could use Toxic — blocked by GoodasGold. Baneful Bunker — Steel immune. Recover — stalls. Haze — neutralizes my boosts (I have none). So Toxapex genuinely cannot damage my Gholdengo. The most efficient: keep Shadowballing. Toxapex will eventually run out of Recover PP. But actually, I realize I should consider whether Toxapex might have a different moveset. The revealed move is only Recover. Possible abilities: Merciless, Limber, Regenerator. If Merciless, its attacks crit when target poisoned — but it can't poison me (Toxic blocked, and GoodasGold). So the plan: Shadowball Toxapex. It Recovers. Loop until it can't. Then kill. But actually, there's a smarter play. Since my Gholdengo can't be hurt, and Toxapex can only stall with Recover, I could also just Recover my own Gholdengo to full and then Shadowball. But that doesn't help kill Toxapex faster. Hmm, wait. Actually the real question is efficiency of turns. Each Shadowball does 43%. Toxapex Recovers from 57% to 100% (heals 43%). Net zero. So it loops. To kill, I need Toxapex to be unable to Recover. That happens when Recover PP = 0. But actually — maybe I should just switch to Dragapult and use Thunderbolt (super effective). But Dragapult switching in risks Toxic. And Thunderbolt does ~? Toxapex SpD 145-213, high. Thunderbolt from Dragapult SpA 152... might not 2HKO. And Toxapex could Toxic Dragapult or Baneful Bunker. Actually, the cleanest and safest is to keep Gholdengo and just Shadowball. Even if it loops, I win by attrition. Toxapex has 8 Recover PP. After 8 recovers, it dies. That's fine. But wait — is there a risk my Gholdengo dies? No. GoodasGold blocks all status. Steel blocks Poison. Baneful Bunker is physical Poison — immune. So no. Actually, let me reconsider whether I even need to worry. The opponent has only Toxapex left. I just need to not lose. My Gholdengo cannot lose to Toxapex. So I just Shadowball. But the looping is inefficient. Is there a way to prevent Recover? Haze! My Gholdengo has... no, my Gholdengo doesn't have Haze. My moves: Make It Rain, Shadowball, Flash Cannon, Recover. No Haze. Hmm. So I can't shut off Recover. But I can just outlast. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider the math. Toxapex at 100%. My Shadowball (80 BP, Wiseglasses 1.1x, SpA 203) vs Toxapex SpD. Toxapex SpD 145-213. Let's say ~180. Damage = ((2*50/5+2) * 80 * (203/180)) / 50 * 1.1 * 1.5 (super effective) * 0.8 (Wiseglasses? no, Wiseglasses is 1.1x) ... roughly. From turn 3, one Shadowball brought it from 100% to 57%, so ~43%. Yes. So each Shadowball = 43%. Toxapex Recover heals 50% of max HP (Recover heals 50%). From 57%, Recover heals 50% of max = 50%, so 57% + 50% = 100% (capped). So yes, it fully recovers from 57%. So it loops. Toxapex needs to run out of Recover PP. 8 PP. But each Recover used = 1 PP. After 8 Recovers, 9th Shadowball kills (since it can't Recover, it's at 57%... wait no). Let me trace: - Turn 4: I Shadowball. Toxapex 100% → 57%. Toxapex Recovers → 100%. (Recover PP 8→7) - Turn 5: I Shadowball. 57% → 14%. Toxapex Recovers → 64%? Wait, from 14%, Recover heals 50% of max = 50%, so 14% + 50% = 64%. Hmm, so not full. Wait, I need to recompute. Recover heals 50% of MAX HP, not 50% of current. So from 14%, it heals 50% max = +50%, to 64%. So it doesn't fully heal. Hmm, so actually the loop isn't perfect. Let me redo: - Start: 100%. - Turn 4: Shadowball → 57%. Recover → 57% + 50% = 100% (capped at 100%). Actually 57+50 = 107, capped 100. So 100%. - Turn 5: Shadowball → 57% - 43% = 14%. Recover → 14% + 50% = 64%. - Turn 6: Shadowball → 64% - 43% = 21%. Recover → 21% + 50% = 71%. - Turn 7: Shadowball → 71% - 43% = 28%. Recover → 78%. - Turn 8: Shadowball → 78% - 43% = 35%. Recover → 85%. - ... Hmm wait, this is getting complicated. Actually the issue is Recover heals 50% max each time, but Shadowball removes 43%. So net +7% per turn after the first. That means Toxapex stays alive and even gains HP slowly. This is bad — it loops forever (until Recover PP runs out). Recover PP: 8 (or with PP ups more). If 8 PP, after 8 Recovers it can't Recover. Let me see when Recover PP runs out: - Turn 4: Recover used (PP 8→7). Toxapex at 100%. - Turn 5: Recover used (7→6). Toxapex at 64%. - Turn 6: Recover used (6→5). Toxapex at 71%. - Turn 7: Recover used (5→4). Toxapex at 78%. - Turn 8: Recover used (4→3). Toxapex at 85%. - Turn 9: Recover used (3→2). Toxapex at 92%. - Turn 10: Recover used (2→1). Toxapex at 99%. - Turn 11: Recover used (1→0). Toxapex at 100%? Let me recompute. Hmm, this is getting messy. The point is it loops and Toxapex slowly heals. Eventually Recover PP runs out and I kill it. But this could be 10+ turns. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider. Is Toxapex really going to Recover every turn? It's the opponent's AI. It might Recover when low. But regardless, the loop means I can't easily kill it with just Shadowball because it heals more than I damage (net +7% per turn). Hmm, actually no. Let me recompute the net. Shadowball removes 43% of max. Recover adds 50% of max. So net +7% per full turn (my move + their move). So Toxapex's HP creeps up. This is a stall that I can't win by just Shadowballing, because it heals faster than I damage. Wait, but that's only if it Recovers every single turn. If it Recovers only when below some threshold, then between Recovers I chip it down. Let me think about optimal opponent play: Toxapex Recovers to full whenever it drops below ~50% or so. Actually, the real issue: I can't kill Toxapex with Gholdengo alone because it heals faster than my Shadowball damages. I need a different approach. Option A: Switch to Dragapult and use Thunderbolt (super effective vs Water). Thunderbolt does more damage. But Dragapult switching in risks Toxic (poisons it) and Baneful Bunker (damage). Also Dragapult is Choice Scarf — if I switch in, I'm locked into the first move. Option B: Use Make It Rain. But it's not very effective vs... wait, Toxapex is Poison/Water. Make It Rain is Steel. Steel vs Poison/Water: not very effective? Steel is not very effective vs Steel, Fire, Water, Electric. So Make It Rain vs Toxapex (Water) is not very effective (0.5x). Bad. Option C: Flash Cannon — Steel, not very effective vs Water. Bad. Option D: Switch to my own Toxapex to stall against their Toxapex. But that just loops too. Hmm. Let me reconsider. The best option is probably Dragapult with Thunderbolt. Let me compute Thunderbolt damage. Dragapult SpA 152, Thunderbolt 90 BP, Wiseglasses? No, Dragapult has Choice Scarf. Thunderbolt vs Toxapex (Water): super effective (2x). Toxapex SpD 145-213. Damage ≈ ((2*50/5+2) * 90 * (152/180) / 50) * 2 * 0.85 ≈ (22 * 90 * 0.844 / 50) * 1.7 ≈ (167/50) * 1.7 ≈ 3.34 * 1.7 ≈ 5.7... that'sThinking budget reached. Stop thinking and give your final answer now.

ProtectToxapex at full HP, SpD -1, vs faster Dragapult (100%). Opposing Gholdengo at 17% in reserve. My Gholdengo/Annihilape fainted. Protect to scout Dragapult's move and avoid damage; Regenerator heals if I switch out later. Good as Gold blocks Toxic/Haze on opposing Gholdengo.
Reasoning trace (355 words)
Let me analyze the current situation: - My Toxapex is active at full HP (157/157), SpD -1, holding Sitrus Berry - Opponent Dragapult is active at 100% HP, moves first (much faster) - Opponent Gholdengo is at 17% HP (in reserve) - My Gholdengo and Annihilape are fainted - Opponent has 1 more Pokémon to bring in from: corviknight, toxapex, annihilape, kingambit Dragapult is faster than my Toxapex (Spe 145-213 vs 55). Dragapult could be physical or special attacker. Toxapex has high defenses but SpD is lowered by -1. Options: 1. Toxic - Dragapult is not Poison type so it can miss (90% accuracy), but Dragapult is fast and might KO before toxic matters 2. Recover - Heal 50%, but Dragapult will likely attack first 3. Protect - Protect from Dragapult's attack, scout what it does 4. Haze - Clear stat changes, but Dragapult moves first and might KO Given Dragapult is much faster and likely to hit hard, Protect seems safest to scout and avoid damage. Toxapex has Regenerator so switching out later heals 1/3 HP. Actually, let me think more carefully. Dragapult at +0 vs Toxapex. Dragapult could run: - Physical: Phantom Force, Dragon Dart, U-turn, etc. - Special: Shadow Ball, Draco Meteor, Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, etc. Toxapex has very high Def (224) but SpD is 164 with -1 modifier. If Dragapult is special, it could hurt. If physical, Toxapex can handle it better. Protect is the safest play to scout Dragapult's move and avoid taking damage. Then I can decide next turn whether to switch out (Regenerator heals) or stay. Wait, but I should also consider that the opponent's Gholdengo is at 17% and might come in later. Dragapult is likely here to pressure Toxapex. Protect seems like the best choice. It lets me see what Dragapult does, avoids damage, and preserves Toxapex for later with Regenerator. Actually, let me reconsider Haze. If Dragapult sets up (like Dragon Dance or Calm Mind), Haze would be useful. But Dragapult moves first, so it could attack before Haze. And if it KOes Toxapex, Haze doesn't matter. Protect is the safest. Let me go with Protect.
Ornith 1.5 35B usedThunderboltOnly their Toxapex remains. My Choice Scarf Dragapult is immune to its status (CursedBody blocks Toxic/Baneful Bunker/Haze; Steel... actually Dragapult isn't Steel but it has no damaging moves revealed—only Recover/Protect). Thunderbolt is super effective and 2HKO's it. Just win the game.
Reasoning trace (360 words)
My Dragapult with Choice Scarf is in, facing their Toxapex. Thunderbolt is super effective and will 2HKO it (it was at 57% after one Shadowball, so full HP Thunderbolt should kill it in 2 hits). Actually let me check: Toxapex was at 57% after one Shadowball from my weakened Gholdengo. Thunderbolt from Dragapult (SpA 152) vs Toxapex (SpD 145-213) would do a lot more. It's super effective (2x). Toxapex is at 100%. Thunderbolt should OHKO or 2HKO. Let me estimate: Shadowball from Gholdengo (SpA 203, but weakened) did ~43% to full Toxapex. Thunderbolt from Dragapult (SpA 152) is super effective. Roughly 152/203 * 0.5 (SE) ... actually SE multiplies by 2. So 152/203 * 2 = ~1.5x the Shadowball damage but Shadowball was 43%, so Thunderbolt ~65%? That would 2HKO. Either way, Toxapex can't hurt Dragapult. Dragapult is immune to nothing relevant but Toxapex only has Recover/Protect revealed plus Toxic/Baneful Bunker/Haze which can't hurt it (CursedBody blocks status, and Steel... wait Dragapult isn't Steel). Actually Toxapex's moves are Toxic, Baneful Bunker, Recover, Haze, plus maybe Poison Jab. Toxic can't hurt Dragapult (CursedBody disables it). Baneful Bunker would give poison but CursedBody disables it. So Dragapult is safe. I should just Thunderbolt to kill Toxapex. That wins the battle. Let me do Thunderbolt. Actually, could Toxapex use Protect again? If it protects, Thunderbolt fails and it recovers. But I've already seen it protect once. If I Thunderbolt and it protects, then next turn I Thunderbolt again and kill it. Either way Thunderbolt is the winning move. Let me go with Thunderbolt. Wait, but there's a consideration: Choice Scarf locks me into Thunderbolt. If Toxapex protects, I'm locked into Thunderbolt. Next turn if it doesn't protect, I kill it. If it protects again... it only has 1 Protect PP presumably. Actually Protect PP is usually 4 (8 with some). But Toxapex revealed only Recover and Protect as moves. It could spam Protect. But that's fine, eventually it runs out of Protect PP and I kill it. Let me just Thunderbolt. That's the cleanest win. Notes: Toxapex is the last one. Thunderbolt 2HKO's it and it can't hurt Dragapult. Win the game.

ToxicOnly Toxapex remains; both reserves fainted. Dragapult is faster and likely special. Opposing Gholdengo is at 17% and immune to Toxic/Haze via Good as Gold, so Toxapex cannot damage it if it switches in. Best line: start poison on Dragapult, then stall with Recover/Protect/Sitrus while avoiding unnecessary switches.

We need answer exactly format. Need decide action. Let's analyze battle state. We are Toxapex active full HP, SpD -1 (from Shadow Ball? Actually Turn 3 opposing Gholdengo used Shadow Ball, Toxapex spd -1? Wait Shadow Ball doesn't lower speed. Log says Your Toxapex: spd -1 maybe from? Could be Dragapult? Turn 4 Dragapult came in, Toxapex protect failed. Turn 5 Dragapult used Thunderbolt, Protect activated. No speed drop. Maybe earlier? Anyway boosts: SpD -1 shown. Toxapex vs Dragapult faster. Dragapult revealed Thunderbolt. Toxapex is Poison/Water; Thunderbolt is neutral? Electric vs Water neutral, vs Poison neutral = neutral. Dragapult SpA high, could do significant. Toxapex can Recover to full, but Dragapult likely attacks first. Protect can scout. Toxic on Dragapult: Poison type? Dragapult Dragon/Ghost not poison, Toxic accuracy 90 but Poison types can't miss irrelevant. Toxic badly poisons Dragapult, but Dragapult can switch out to clear. Haze removes stat changes (only our SpD -1? and maybe Dragapult boosts none). Recover heals 50% but if Dragapult attacks first may not matter. Need plan. We have only Toxapex left? Team: Gholdengo fainted, Annihilape fainted, Toxapex active. Opponent has Dragapult active 100%, Gholdengo 17% reserve, one more unrevealed among corviknight, toxapex, annihilape, kingambit (since brought 3 of 6; seen Dragapult and Gholdengo; one more still to come in). Actually in Champions singles each player brought 3 of 6. Opponent team at preview showed 6, brought 3. We saw opposing Gholdengo lead fainted? Wait Turn 1 opposing Gholdengo came in and used Shadow Ball, Turn 2 at 17%, Turn 3 used Shadow Ball on Toxapex, Turn 4 Opposing Dragapult came in. So opposing Gholdengo is still alive at 17% but switched out? It came in lead, after Turn 2 at 17%, Turn 3 used Shadow Ball (still active), Turn 4 Dragapult came in (so Gholdengo switched out? The log says Opposing Dragapult came in; likely opponent switched Gholdengo to Dragapult). So opponent active Dragapult, reserve Gholdengo 17%, and one unrevealed (third Pokémon) not yet in battle. Our team only Toxapex remains (two fainted). If Toxapex faints, we lose? In singles one Pokémon on field per side; each brought 3. If active faints and no reserves? We have no unfainted reserves (Gholdengo/Annihilape fainted). So if Toxapex faints, game over (unless opponent also faints same turn? no). Need not lose. Dragapult faster; we need survive and maybe win. Toxapex has Recover, Protect, Toxic, Haze. Dragapult likely has Thunderbolt, maybe Shadow Ball, Flamethrower, Thunder Wave, Will-O-Wisp, etc. Toxapex can take neutral hits? At level 50, Toxapex HP 157, Def 224, SpD 111 (boost -1 => effective lower). Dragapult SpA maybe 137-167. Thunderbolt 90 special neutral. Damage roughly: level50, SpA maybe 150, BP90, vs Def? Special uses SpD. Toxapex SpD 111 with -1 = stage -1 (0.667) effective 74. Damage = ((2*50/5+2)*150*90 /74 /50)+2 mod. (22*150*90=297000)/(74*50=3700)=80.27+2=82.3 * modifiers. If SpA 167 -> ~91. If crit etc. Could leave Toxapex ~65-95 HP. Recover next turn can heal. But Dragapult may use Phantom Force? It can 2HKO. Toxapex cannot damage Dragapult much (Toxic chip, Recover stall). But if Dragapult switches out on Toxic, Gholdengo 17% comes in; Toxapex cannot hit Gholdengo (Good as Gold blocks Toxic/Haze; Shadow Ball would hit us). We have no attacking moves. This is problematic: Toxapex has no damaging moves. We can only stall with Recover/Protect/Toxic/Haze. Against Dragapult, Toxic can poison but Dragapult can switch out to Gholdengo (immune to poison? Steel/Ghost not poison, can be poisoned? Toxic can poison Steel/Ghost? Yes unless ability? Good as Gold blocks status moves? Good as Gold makes user immune to status moves? Let's recall: Good as Gold: The Pokémon is immune to status moves. It blocks status moves like Toxic, Thunder Wave, Will-O-Wisp, Recover? It blocks status moves targeting it, including Recover? In Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Gholdengo's Good as Gold grants immunity to status moves. It cannot be affected by status moves, including Toxic, Recover? It blocks status moves used by opponents, not own. So opposing Gholdengo cannot be Toxic'd or Haze'd by us. It can Shadow Ball us. Dragapult can be Toxic'd but can switch to Gholdengo to absorb? Gholdengo is immune to status moves due Good as Gold, so if Dragapult is badly poisoned and switches to Gholdengo, does poison status transfer? No, status remains on Dragapult; switching out doesn't cure poison (unless Rest/natural cure etc). Gholdengo coming in doesn't absorb Toxic. But Gholdengo at 17% can Shadow Ball Toxapex; Toxapex can Recover/Protect. We need eventually maybe stall Dragapult with Toxic + Recover/Protect while it takes poison damage each turn. But Dragapult faster and can attack before we act each turn. If we Toxic turn 6, Dragapult moves first (likely attack), then Toxapex poisoned? Actually Toxic after Dragapult's move. Dragapult becomes badly poisoned; each turn it takes increasing poison damage after its move? Order: Dragapult moves first, then Toxapex uses Toxic (if faster? no Toxapex slower, but move still executes after Dragapult). At end of turn, poison damage to Dragapult. Next turn Dragapult moves first, may attack or switch. If it stays, Toxapex can Recover/Protect. Dragapult takes poison damage at end of each turn (badly poison: turn n damage n/16 max HP). It may switch out to avoid poison, but then poison remains if it switches back later; however opponent can switch to Gholdengo or third. We cannot pursue. Since we have no reserves, if Toxapex faints we lose. Need maximize chance to win by stalling Dragapult to death via poison while healing. But Dragapult can 2HKO or 3HKO; Toxapex can Recover. Need consider PP: Recover 7/8, Protect 14/16, Toxic 16, Haze 48. Dragapult likely has limited PP but unknown. Sitrus Berry at <=50%. SpD -1 is bad but Recover resets HP not boosts. Haze could remove our own SpD -1? Haze eliminates all stat changes on both sides. If Dragapult has no boosts, using Haze would remove our SpD -1 (good) but Dragapult moves first and may attack before Haze. Also Haze doesn't heal. If we use Haze, our SpD returns to 111, improving bulk. But Dragapult attacks first this turn; after attack, Haze clears boosts. Could be useful if we expect to survive. But if Dragapult uses a stat-boosting move (e.g., Dragon Dance) or has Infiltrator/Cursed Body, Haze removes boosts. Revealed only Thunderbolt. Dragapult may use Thunderbolt repeatedly. Toxapex can Recover to full after taking damage, but slower: Dragapult attacks, Toxapex Recover to 78 (if at half? Actually Recover heals 50% max =78, not full unless at low? It heals by 50% of max HP, so from ~75 to 153, not full if damage >78? If at 75, recover to 153. Next turn Dragapult attacks ~85, to 68, recover to 146. It can sustain if damage <78 per turn? If damage ~85, after attack HP maybe 72, recover to 150; net each turn -7 if heal 78 after taking 85. Sitrus at <=50 (78 HP) heals 39 to 117 maybe. But if damage >78, HP after attack below 78, Sitrus triggers if at end? Item consumes when HP <=50% after a move? Sitrus Berry restores when at 1/2 max or less, likely after taking damage before our move? If HP <=78 at start of turn? Need not. Protect can avoid damage and scout, but Dragapult may switch to Gholdengo on Protect. If we Protect, no progress. Toxic starts poison clock. Since Dragapult faster, using Toxic means it attacks first then we poison. If Dragapult uses Thunderbolt and does ~85, Toxapex at 72, poisoned Dragapult. Next turn Dragapult may attack again (~85) -> Toxapex faints if at 72 (unless Sitrus? at start HP 72 <=78, Sitrus Berry activates? Items like Sitrus Berry activate when HP is at or below half after taking damage? In Showdown, Sitrus Berry restores 1/4 max HP when at 1/2 max HP or less, triggered by damage that brings HP to 50% or less, before the Pokémon's turn? It heals immediately when HP drops to <=50%, possibly during opponent's turn. If Toxapex at 157, Dragapult hits to 72 (<=78.5), Sitrus Berry activates and heals 39 to 111, then our turn. Actually item healing occurs after damage, before our move. Then Toxapex at 111. Good. If damage ~91 to 66, Sitrus heals to 105. Then we can Recover to 153? If at 105, Recover heals 78 to 183 capped 157. So can sustain. But if Dragapult uses stronger move or crit, could KO. Thunderbolt neutral from Dragapult SpA maybe 167 with specs? Item unknown. Could be Choice Specs? Damage ~ (22*167*90/74/50)+2 = 90.5; with Sitrus maybe survive. If SpA 203? possible range max 167 for Dragapult SpA at level50? Stats range [SpA 108-167], so max 167. With Choice Specs (1.5) effective 250, damage ~151, could KO after Sitrus? 157-151=6, Sitrus if <=50? no because after damage 6 <=50, Sitrus heals 39 to 45, survive with 45. Then next turn Dragapult moves first and can KO before we Recover. But if at 45, we could Recover to 123 only if we get a turn; Dragapult moves first and likely KO. So Protect when low might be better. But we don't know HP exact? We know full now. Need choose action for Turn 6. Options: toxic, recover, protect, haze. We need plan ahead. Since Dragapult faster and likely to attack, using Recover now means Dragapult attacks first, then we heal 78. If damage ~85, HP after attack ~72, Sitrus heals to 111, then Recover to 157 (capped) actually if Sitrus heals to 111 then Recover heals +78 =189 cap 157. So Recover can restore full after Sitrus. But if damage >79 and no Sitrus? Sitrus triggers if HP <= half after damage. Starting full, any damage >78.5 triggers Sitrus, heals to <=117, then Recover to full. So Recover is viable if one hit doesn't KO before Sitrus. If damage >=157 (KO) no. Max non-crit with Specs maybe ~151, survive with Sitrus? If damage 151, HP 6 <= half, Sitrus heals 39 to 45. Then our Recover to 123 (not full). Next turn Dragapult moves first; if hits again ~151, KO before we can act. But if we Protect next turn maybe survive and scout. However Dragapult may switch. Hmm. Using Protect now avoids damage and scouts. But no progress; Dragapult may use Thunderbolt (failed) or switch to Gholdengo. If it switches to Gholdengo at 17%, Toxapex can Toxic? blocked by Good as Gold; Haze blocked; Recover/Protect only. Gholdengo Shadow Ball does ~? SpA 137-203, BP80 ghost super effective vs Toxapex (Poison/Water? Ghost neutral to Poison, not very effective vs Water? Ghost vs Water neutral; overall neutral? Wait Ghost is neutral to Poison and Water, so Shadow Ball neutral, not super effective. But log said opposing Gholdengo Shadow Ball was super effective on Annihilape (Fighting/Ghost: Ghost is super effective vs Ghost, neutral vs Fighting = super effective). On Toxapex Poison/Water, Ghost neutral. Damage lower. Gholdengo at 17% can still maybe 2HKO. Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo due Good as Gold blocks Toxic/Haze and no attacking moves. If Gholdengo comes in, Toxapex is setup fodder? It can Recover/Protect but Gholdengo can Shadow Ball or Nasty Plot. Good as Gold blocks our status, but Gholdengo can use Recover itself maybe. We cannot win if Gholdengo comes in unless it faints from poison? It can't be poisoned by Toxic due Good as Gold? If Dragapult is badly poisoned and switches to Gholdengo, poison doesn't transfer. So Toxapex cannot beat Gholdengo 1v1 (no damaging moves, status blocked). But maybe Gholdengo at 17% can be forced to switch and eventually Struggle? No. Our only win condition likely: Toxic Dragapult, stall with Recover/Protect/Sitrus/Regenerator? But Toxapex cannot switch out (no reserves) so Regenerator irrelevant. If Dragapult switches to Gholdengo, we're stuck; but maybe Gholdengo at 17% will use Shadow Ball and Toxapex can stall until Gholdengo runs out of PP? Shadow Ball PP likely 16/16 (or 24 for ours). Toxapex Recover PP 7, Protect 14. Gholdengo can attack until Toxapex PP runs out? Recover 8 PP, Protect 16; if Gholdengo keeps attacking, Toxapex can Protect/Recover alternately. But Gholdengo at 17% might have Leftovers and Recover; it can heal. Toxapex cannot damage it. This is unwinnable if opponent plays Gholdengo. Unless Dragapult's poison damage continues after switching out? No. But if Dragapult is badly poisoned and switches to Gholdengo, Dragapult remains poisoned in reserve; if later switches back, takes poison. But opponent can keep Gholdengo in and kill Toxapex. However Gholdengo at 17% may be afraid to switch into Toxic? It's immune to status. It can come in freely. Toxapex has no attack. So if opponent switches Dragapult to Gholdengo, Toxapex likely loses unless Gholdengo self-destructs? Not. Maybe we should use Haze to remove SpD -1 and maybe if Dragapult uses Thunderbolt, no boosts. Haze also removes any Dragapult boosts (if it uses Dragon Dance). But Dragapult moves first; if it attacks, Haze after. It doesn't prevent damage. Recover seems better to maintain HP. But if we Recover while Dragapult can attack, we rely on surviving. Protect scouts and avoids damage, but lets Dragapult potentially switch to Gholdengo (bad) or use a non-attacking move. Toxic starts poison clock but Dragapult attacks first; if it switches to Gholdengo after being poisoned, Dragapult carries poison but Gholdengo is fresh. We then face Gholdengo with Toxapex; cannot poison it. Bad. If Dragapult stays, poison clock helps. But Dragapult likely can 2HKO and may switch out to preserve. Since we have no reserves, switching is not an option. We need choose move that gives best chance. Let's estimate damage and possible sets. Dragapult possible abilities: Clear Body (prevents stat lowering), Infiltrator (ignore substitutes/screens), Cursed Body (30% disable when hit). Item unknown. Revealed Thunderbolt. Dragapult is faster. Common sets: Choice Specs Dragapult with Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Flamethrower, U-turn; or physical Dragon Dance with Phantom Force/Dragon Darts; or special with Thunder Wave/Will-O-Wisp. Since it used Thunderbolt on Toxapex (a Water/Poison) rather than switching, maybe special attacker. Toxapex can wall special Dragapult if not super effective. Thunderbolt neutral; Dragapult may have Flamethrower (neutral? Fire vs Water half, vs Poison neutral = half) or Shadow Ball (neutral). It may not have a super effective move against Toxapex (no Psychic? Dragon? Dragon neutral to Poison/Water? Dragon vs Water neutral, vs Poison neutral = neutral;
Ornith 1.5 35B usedThunderboltMirror match, only their Toxapex left at 100%. My Dragapult (Choice Scarf, not locked—Thunderbolt failed last turn) has super-effective Thunderbolt but it only does ~35%, less than Shadowball's 43%, and Toxapex Recovers to full. One hit won't kill and it'll just Recover. Switching to my own Toxapex stalls into a mirror; Gholdengo at 17.9% is safe but pointless. Best shot: Thunderbolt now to chip, then force the issue—Toxapex has used Protect twice and Recover once, may not Protect again.

The opponent's Toxapex is at 100% HP. My Dragapult is Choice Scarf locked? No, I haven't chosen a move yet this turn. Wait, in turn 5, Dragapult used Thunderbolt but it failed due to Protect. Since the move failed, Dragapult is NOT locked into Thunderbolt. Good. So now on Turn 6, Toxapex is at 100% HP. My Dragapult needs to hit. Thunderbolt is super effective. Let me calculate: Toxapex at 100%, Thunderbolt 90 BP, super effective (2x). Dragapult SpA 152 with... does it have a boosting item? Choice Scarf only boosts speed. So no special attack boost. Actually, from turn 5 notes: "Thunderbolt is super effective and 2HKO's it." But now Toxapex is at 100% because it used Recover. So one Thunderbolt won't kill it. Let me estimate. Toxapex HP 125-157. Thunderbolt damage: Let's estimate. In turn 3, Shadowball brought Toxapex to 57% from 100% (so ~43% damage). Shadowball is 80 BP. Thunderbolt is 90 BP and super effective. So Thunderbolt would do more. Actually let me think about the numbers. My Gholdengo SpA 203 with Wise Glasses. Shadowball 80 BP, super effective, hit their Toxapex to 57% (43% damage). Thunderbolt on my Dragapult: SpA 152, no boost, 90 BP, super effective. Damage is roughly proportional to SpA * BP. So Thunderbolt relative to Shadowball: (152/203) * (90/80) * (100/100 for SE both) = 0.749 * 1.125 = 0.84. So Thunderbolt does about 84% of what Shadowball did. Shadowball did 43%, so Thunderbolt does ~36%. That's not enough to kill from 100%. Hmm, but wait, the calculations depend on the actual Toxapex stats. Let me reconsider. Actually the note says "Thunderbolt is super effective and 2HKO's it." So two Thunderbolts kill. From 100%, one Thunderbolt brings it to ~64%, second to ~41%. So it needs two hits. But Toxapex can Recover. If I Thunderbolt, it goes to ~64%, then it can Recover back to 100%. That's bad. Wait, but Toxapex used Protect on turns 4 and 5. It's been protecting. Now on turn 6, what will it do? It could Recover, Protect, or attack. Toxapex's moves: Recover, Protect, and presumably Toxic/Baneful Bunker/Haze. But it can't damage my Dragapult (Dragapult is Dragon/Ghost, immune to Poison and... wait, Toxapex's damaging move would be Poison Jab which is physical. Dragapult isn't immune to physical. But Toxapex's Atk is low and Dragapult's Def is 95). Actually Toxapex's standard set has no damaging moves revealed except... it has Baneful Bunker (contact), Toxic (status), Recover, Haze. So Toxapex can't really damage Dragapult. So the question: should I Thunderbolt now? Toxapex is at 100%. If I Thunderbolt, it goes to ~64%. Then it'll Recover. Then I Thunderbolt again to ~41%. Then Recover again. This loops. Hmm, but actually, can I kill it? Let me reconsider the damage. Actually, let me reconsider. The note from turn 4 said "Shadowball (43%) < Recover (50%), so it loops and heals." So Shadowball does 43% damage, Recover heals 50%. So Shadowball can't kill. Thunderbolt does ~36% (my estimate). That's even less. So Thunderbolt alone from 100% won't kill either. Wait, but the turn 5 note says "Thunderbolt is super effective and 2HKO's it." Let me recompute. If Toxapex was at some % when Thunderbolt was used... Actually in turn 5, Toxapex was at 100% (it recovered on turn 3). Thunderbolt was blocked by Protect. So we never saw Thunderbolt's actual damage. Let me recompute more carefully. Toxapex HP at level 50: 125-157. Let's say the actual is somewhere. Shadowball from my Gholdengo (SpA 203, Wise Glasses +10% = 223.3) did 43% to Toxapex. Actually, let me just estimate Thunderbolt damage directly. Damage formula (Gen 8, level 50): Damage = ((2*25/5 + 2) * Power * STAB/NonSTAB * (A/D)) / 50 + 2) * Modifier For Thunderbolt on Toxapex: - Level 50, so (2*50/5 + 2) = 22 - Power 90 - No STAB (Thunderbolt is Electric, Dragapult is Dragon/Ghost) - Super effective: 2x - Attack (SpA) 152, Defense (Def) Toxapex ~224 (from my toxapex stats, but opponent's could vary). Let's use 224. - Item: Choice Scarf doesn't boost SpA - Modifier: 1 (no crit, etc.) Damage = ((22 * 90 * 1 * (152/224)) / 50 + 2) * 1 (SE already counted... wait SE is 2x) Let me redo: = ((22 * 90 * 152/224) / 50 + 2) * 2 = ((22 * 90 * 0.6786) / 50 + 2) * 2 = ((1343.6) / 50 + 2) * 2 = (26.87 + 2) * 2 = 28.87 * 2 = 57.7 So Thunderbolt does ~57.7 damage. Toxapex HP ~140 (mid). So 57.7/140 = ~41%. So one Thunderbolt brings Toxapex to ~59%. Hmm, that's more than my earlier estimate. Let me recompute Shadowball for comparison. Shadowball from Gholdengo: - Power 80 - STAB (Gholdengo is Ghost): 1.5x - Super effective: 2x - SpA 203 * 1.1 (Wise Glasses) = 223.3 - Def 224 Damage = ((22 * 80 * 1.5 * (223.3/224)) / 50 + 2) * 2 = ((22 * 80 * 1.5 * 0.997) / 50 + 2) * 2 = ((2638.5) / 50 + 2) * 2 = (52.77 + 2) * 2 = 54.77 * 2 = 109.5 Wait that's way more than 43%. 109.5/140 = 78%. That doesn't match the "43%" from the log. Hmm, let me reconsider. Maybe the Toxapex defense is higher, or maybe I'm miscalculating. Wait, the log said Shadowball brought Toxapex to 57%, so 43% damage. Let me back-calculate Toxapex HP. If damage = 109.5 and that's 43%, then HP = 109.5/0.43 = 254. That's too high for Toxapex. Let me reconsider. Maybe my damage calc is wrong. Actually, let me reconsider the defense stat. Toxapex's Def range is 154-224. Let me use the actual. Hmm. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider. Maybe the opponent's Toxapex has a different nature/effort spread. But regardless, the log tells us Shadowball did 43%. Let me just trust the log: Shadowball (80 BP, STAB, SE) did 43% from 100%. Thunderbolt (90 BP, no STAB, SE) vs Shadowball (80 BP, STAB 1.5x, SE): Ratio = (90 * 1) / (80 * 1.5) = 90/120 = 0.75 But also SpA difference: Dragapult 152 vs Gholdengo 203*1.1=223.3 Ratio of SpA = 152/223.3 = 0.68 Total ratio = 0.75 * 0.68 = 0.51 So Thunderbolt does ~51% of Shadowball's damage = 0.51 * 43% = 22%. Hmm, that gives Thunderbolt only 22% damage. That seems too low. Wait, I need to be careful. The STAB multiplier applies to the attacker's move matching their type. Gholdengo's Shadowball is STAB. Dragapult's Thunderbolt is NOT STAB (Dragapult is Dragon/Ghost, Thunderbolt is Electric). So Thunderbolt has no STAB, Shadowball has STAB. That's a big difference. Let me recompute the ratio properly: Shadowball damage ∝ 80 * 1.5 (STAB) * (223.3) / Def * SE(2x) Thunderbolt damage ∝ 90 * 1.0 (no STAB) * (152) / Def * SE(2x) Ratio = (90 * 152) / (80 * 1.5 * 223.3) = 13680 / 26796 = 0.51 So Thunderbolt does 51% of Shadowball's damage. Shadowball did 43%, so Thunderbolt does ~22%. Hmm, that means Thunderbolt from 100% brings Toxapex to ~78%. That's a lot of recovering. Wait, but that doesn't seem right either. Let me reconsider whether the base damage calc is right. Actually, let me reconsider. The issue is the level 50 formula has the +2 and /50 which makes the power scaling nonlinear. Let me just do absolute numbers. Assume Toxapex Def = 224 (max), HP = 140 (let's say). Shadowball from Gholdengo: Base = (2*50/5 + 2) = 22 = (22 * 80 * 1.5 * (223.3/224) / 50 + 2) * 2 Let me compute step by step: 22 * 80 = 1760 1760 * 1.5 = 2640 2640 * (223.3/224) = 2640 * 0.997 = 2632.6 2632.6 / 50 = 52.65 52.65 + 2 = 54.65 54.65 * 2 (SE) = 109.3 Minus random (0.85-1.0), avg 0.925: 109.3 * 0.925 = 101.1 So Shadowball does ~101 damage. If that's 43%, HP = 235. Too high. Hmm, something's off. Toxapex can't have 235 HP at level 50. Max Toxapex HP is around 157. Let me reconsider. Maybe Toxapex's Def is much higher, or maybe I have the formula wrong. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider. Maybe the opponent's Toxapex has high Defense. But even so, 235 HP is impossible. Let me reconsider the formula. Actually, maybe I should reconsider whether Shadowball was super effective. The log says "It was super effective" for the Shadowball on Toxapex. Yes. Hmm, let me reconsider. Maybe Toxapex's actual Def is 224 and HP is 157. Shadowball damage with Def 224, HP 157: = 109.3 * 0.925 = 101.1 101.1/157 = 64%. Still not 43%. With Def 224, to get 43%, HP would need to be 101/0.43 = 235. Impossible. So my damage calc must be wrong somewhere. Let me reconsider. Oh wait. Maybe the issue is that Toxapex's Defense is really high, like the max 224, AND there's something else. Or maybe I'm wrong about Gholdengo's SpA. Gholdengo SpA 203, Wise Glasses +10% = 223.3. That's right. Hmm, let me reconsider. Actually maybe the opponent's Toxapex has a nature that boosts Defense and the HP is at the higher end. Actually, you know what, let me just trust the log and reason relatively. The log clearly states: - Turn 3: Shadowball brought Toxapex to 57% (43% damage). Toxapex then Recovered to 100%. - Turn 4 note: "Shadowball (43%) < Recover (50%), so it loops." So Shadowball does 43%, Recover heals 50%. This is the ground truth. Now, my Dragapult Thunderbolt. Let me estimate it does less than Shadowball because no STAB and lower SpA. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider. Maybe the note's "43%" is approximate. Let me just estimate Thunderbolt does roughly 30-40%. If Thunderbolt does ~35% from 100%, it brings Toxapex to ~65%. Then Toxapex Recovers to 100%. Loop. If Thunderbolt does ~22%, brings to ~78%, then Recover to 100%. Loop. Either way, one Thunderbolt doesn't kill, and Toxapex can Recover. So the key question: can I kill Toxapex before it Recovers, or can I prevent it from Recovering? Options: 1. Thunderbolt now. Toxapex at ~65-78%. It'll probably Recover (it's been Protecting/Recovering). Then I'm stuck. 2. Switch to Toxapex (my 100% Toxapex vs their Toxapex). This is a mirror. But my Toxapex has Regenerator and can stall. But this drags out the game. 3. Switch to Gholdengo (17.9%). Risky but it's immune to Toxapex's attacks. Hmm. Let me think about the best path. Actually, the cleanest win: Dragapult Thunderbolts Toxapex. If Toxapex Recovers, I Thunderbolt again. But Toxapex will keep Recovering. Unless I can OHKO. Wait, can I OHKO? If Thunderbolt does ~35%, no. If it does ~43% (like Shadowball), then from 100% it's 57%, and a second hit would be ~57%*0.65 = 37%, total 94%, almost killing but not quite. Hmm. Actually, let me reconsider. If Thunderbolt does the same 43% as Shadowball (which is unlikely due to no STAB), then: - Hit 1: 100% -> 57% - Toxapex Recovers: 57% -> 100% (Recover heals 50% of max HP, so from 57% it goes to 57%+50%=... wait, Recover heals 25% of max HP actually in real Pokémon. But the note says 50%?) Hmm, the note says "Recover (50%)". That's odd. Recover normally heals 50% of max HP. Wait, no. In modern Pokémon, Recover heals 50% of max HP. Let me reconsider. Actually, Recover/Soft-Heal heals 50% of max HP. So if Toxapex is at 57%, Recover brings it to 57% + 50% = 107% -> capped at 100%. So yes, from below 50%, Recover fully heals. From above 50% (like 57%), Recover brings it to 107% capped at 100%. So it fully heals. Wait, but the note says Shadowball does 43%, bringing to 57%. Then Recover heals 50% (of max), bringing 57% to 100% (since 57%+50% > 100%). So it fully heals. That matches "healed to 100%". OK so Recover fully heals from 57%. Now for Thunderbolt: if it does ~35%, brings Toxapex to 65%. Recover heals Thinking budget reached. Stop thinking and give your final answer now.

ProtectToxapex (86/157, SpD -1, no item) vs faster Dragapult (93%, badly poisoned). Dragapult moves first; Thunderbolt is super effective. Toxic already active so re-using it is useless; Gholdengo (17%) is blocked by Good as Gold and I have no damaging move anyway. Protect to scout Dragapult's move, avoid damage, and let Toxic tick; one hidden opponent remains (corviknight/toxapex/annihilape/kingambit).
Reasoning trace (657 words)
Let me analyze the current battle state. Current situation: - My Toxapex is active at 86/157 HP (54.8%), SpD -1 boost, item none (Sitrus Berry already consumed), Regenerator ability. - Opponent Dragapult is active at 93% HP, Toxic (badly poisoned), faster than me (Spe 145-213 vs my 55). - Opponent Gholdengo at 17% HP in reserve, Good as Gold ability. - One more opponent Pokémon still to come from: corviknight, toxapex, annihilape, kingambit. My moves: - Toxic (90% acc) - Dragapult is already poisoned, so Toxic would fail or do nothing. Actually, if a Pokémon is already poisoned, using Toxic again typically fails (or in some gens, badly poisons again? No, Toxic on already poisoned target fails). So Toxic is useless. - Recover - heals 50% max HP. Toxapex at 86/157, recovering would bring to ~128/157. - Protect - priority +4, protects from moves this turn. - Haze - removes stat changes. Dragapult has no stat changes shown. My SpD -1 would be removed too. Not useful right now. Dragapult is faster and will move first. It's at 93% and badly poisoned. Toxic damage will chip it each turn. My plan: Dragapult is faster and likely will attack. I should Protect to scout its move and avoid damage, while Toxic damage ticks. Then Recover next turn if needed. Actually, let me think. Dragapult is toxic'd. Each turn it takes poison damage. If I Protect, I avoid damage and let poison tick. Then I can Recover. But wait - Dragapult could switch out to Gholdengo (17%) or the third Pokémon. If it switches, my Protect wastes a turn but that's fine. The key threat: Dragapult is faster and can KO me. Thunderbolt is super effective against Toxapex (Poison/Water - Electric is neutral to Poison, super effective vs Water = 2x). Actually Electric vs Poison/Water: Poison is neutral to Electric, Water is weak to Electric, so overall 2x super effective. Toxapex at 86/157. Dragapult Thunderbolt could do significant damage. Protect is safest. Also, my SpD is -1, making me more vulnerable to special attacks. Protect avoids that. I should Protect this turn to scout Dragapult's move and let Toxic damage accumulate. Then next turn Recover or continue stalling. Wait, but if Dragapult switches out to Gholdengo, Gholdengo is at 17% and Good as Gold blocks my Toxic/Haze. But Shadow Ball from Gholdengo is super effective against Toxapex (Ghost vs Ghost = neutral? No. Ghost vs Ghost is neutral. Wait, Toxapex is Poison/Water. Ghost is neutral to Poison and neutral to Water. So Shadow Ball is neutral against Toxapex, not super effective. Let me re-check. Actually in the battle log: "Opposing Gholdengo used Shadow Ball - It was super effective" against my Annihilape (Fighting/Ghost). Ghost is super effective against Ghost and Psychic. Annihilape is Fighting/Ghost, so Ghost is super effective (2x) due to Ghost typing. Against Toxapex (Poison/Water), Shadow Ball is neutral (1x). So if Dragapult switches to Gholdengo, Shadow Ball is neutral against Toxapex but Gholdengo is at 17% and could be KOed by... well I have no damaging moves that hit Gholdengo effectively except... Toxic is blocked by Good as Gold. Haze does no damage. So I can't damage Gholdengo at all. But Gholdengo at 17% is weak. Actually, my only attacking option is none - Toxapex has no attacking moves in the legal list (toxic, recover, protect, haze). So I can only stall. Best play: Protect to avoid Dragapult's attack and let Toxic tick. Dragapult is at 93% with Toxic. Toxic damage increases each turn (1/16, 2/16, 3/16... of max HP). Let me go with Protect. Actually, wait. Should I Recover instead? Toxapex is at 54.8%. If Dragapult uses Thunderbolt (super effective), it could do maybe 40-60% damage. With SpD -1, even more. Protect is safer to scout. I'll Protect. Notes: Keep concise. Dragapult toxic'd, faster. Protect to scout and stall. Gholdengo at 17% blocked by Good as Gold. One more opponent mon hidden. Decision: MOVE: protect
Ornith 1.5 35B usedThunderboltOnly their Toxapex remains at 54%. My Choice Scarf Dragapult is toxed. Thunderbolt is super effective (~35%). Risk: Choice lock. If they Protect, I'm locked but kill next turn. If they Recover then Protect, I could get stuck looping. Best line: Thunderbolt now to chip to ~19%, forcing them to react. If they Protect, locked Thunderbolt wins next turn.
Reasoning trace (2,346 words)
Let me think about this situation carefully. My Dragapult is active, toxed, at 93.9% HP, Choice Scarf. Their Toxapex is at 54% HP with -1 Spd. Thunderbolt is super effective. Let me estimate damage. My notes say Thunderbolt does ~35% per hit. At 54% HP, one Thunderbolt would bring it to ~19%. Then it could Recover to full, or it's just chipped. Wait, let me reconsider. The situation: I need to win. Their Toxapex has Recover, Protect, Toxic. It's at 54%. If I Thunderbolt now: 54% - 35% = ~19%. Then their move. If they Protect, I'm locked into Thunderbolt (Choice Scarf). Next turn Thunderbolt again: 19% - 35% = dead. But if they Recover instead of Protect, it goes to 100% again. Actually, let me think about what's optimal. The opponent has used Protect twice and Recover once. Option A: Thunderbolt now. Brings Toxapex to ~19%. - If they Protect: locked, next turn Thunderbolt kills. Win. - If they Recover: back to 100%. Then I Thunderbolt again to 65%. Loop. - If they Toxic: I'm already toxed, doesn't matter much. Hmm, but the issue is my Dragapult is Choice Scarf locked. If they Protect, I'm locked into Thunderbolt which is fine because it kills next turn. Actually wait, the real concern: if they Recover, we loop forever on Thunderbolt vs Recover. Thunderbolt does 35%, Recover heals 50% (well, Recover heals 50% of max). So Thunderbolt 35% < Recover 50%. It loops. But actually, my Dragapult is toxed. Tox does damage over time. Toxapex's Toxic... wait, can Toxapex's Toxic be blocked? My Dragapult has CursedBody which can disable the move 30% of the time. But it's already toxed. Let me reconsider. The cleanest win: I want to prevent the Recover loop. Actually, the best play might be to switch to my own Toxapex to stall a mirror, OR to use a move that prevents recovery. Wait, but I don't have Haze on Dragapult. My Toxapex has Haze though. Let me think about the mirror. If I switch to my Toxapex: - Their Toxapex is at 54%, toxed? No, my Dragapult got toxed, not their Toxapex. - Actually their Toxapex is not poisoned. My Toxapex would Toxic it. - Then it's a Toxapex mirror. My Toxapex has Regenerator, Big Root (Recover heals more). Hmm, but a Toxapex mirror is slow and depends on who toxes first. Actually, let me reconsider the Thunderbolt math more carefully. My Dragapult SpA = 152, with Wise Glasses +30% Steel... but Thunderbolt is Electric, not Steel, so Wise Glasses doesn't boost it. Wait, Wise Glasses boost Electric-type moves! Yes, Wise Glasses boost Electric-type special moves by 30%. So Thunderbolt: Base 90, Electric, special. My SpA 152. Target Toxapex SpD. Let me estimate. Toxapex SpD range 145-213. Let's say around 180ish. Damage formula: Damage = ((2*25/5 + 2) * Power * (SpA/SpD) / 50 + 2) * Modifier = (12 * 90 * (152/180) / 50 + 2) = (12 * 90 * 0.844 / 50 + 2) = (911.1 / 50 + 2) = (18.22 + 2) = 20.22 Then * 0.85 (STAB? no, Thunderbolt isn't STAB for Dragapult). Dragapult is Dragon/Ghost, so no STAB on Thunderbolt. Actually wait, let me redo. No STAB. = 20.22 * 0.85 = 17.2 * 1.0 (Wise Glasses doesn't apply to Electric... wait it does apply to Electric) Wise Glasses: "The holder's Electric-type moves have 1.3x power." So yes, applies. = 17.2 * 1.3 = 22.3 Hmm, but my notes say Thunderbolt does ~35%. Let me reconsider. Maybe their Toxapex has lower SpD. Actually the notes said "Thunderbolt now to chip... only does ~35%". Let me trust that roughly. At 54%, one Thunderbolt → ~19%. Actually, let me reconsider whether one Thunderbolt could kill. If their Toxapex SpD is at the low end (145): Damage = (12 * 90 * (152/145) / 50 + 2) * 0.85 * 1.3 = (12 * 90 * 1.048 / 50 + 2) * 1.105 = (1132 / 50 + 2) * 1.105 = (22.64 + 2) * 1.105 = 24.64 * 1.105 = 27.2 Hmm that's only 27% at low SpD. That doesn't match 35%. Wait, maybe I'm miscalculating. Let me reconsider. Actually maybe the 35% includes something else. Let me just go with the notes' estimate of ~35%. Actually, the notes might be using a specific Toxapex spread. Let me not overthink. The key insight from my notes: "Thunderbolt now to chip, then force the issue—Toxapex has used Protect twice and Recover once, may not Protect again." So the plan is: Thunderbolt to chip, hope they don't Protect, and eventually kill. But there's a risk: Choice Scarf lock. If they Protect, I'm locked into Thunderbolt. That's actually fine because next turn I kill them. The real problem is the Recover loop. If they Recover instead of Protect, we loop. Hmm, but actually, let me reconsider. Is there a better option? Switch to my Toxapex: This creates a mirror. My Toxapex is at 100%, their Toxapex at 54%. If I Toxic them, they're poisoned. Then Recover loop but I have Big Root Recover which heals more. My Toxapex would outlast potentially. But their Toxapex could also Toxic mine. Actually, the cleanest approach: Let me think about what happens if I Thunderbolt now. Turn 7: Thunderbolt → Toxapex ~19%. Their move: - Protect: Turn 8 Thunderbolt kills. Win. - Recover: back to 100%. Loop continues. - Toxic: Toxapex toxes my Dragapult (already toxed). Turn 8 Thunderbolt → 19% again. The Recover loop is the concern. But note: my Dragapult is toxed, so over time it takes damage. Their Toxapex is not poisoned. So in a Thunderbolt vs Recover loop, I'm at a disadvantage because I'm losing HP to tox while they stay healthy. Wait, but actually if they Recover, they stay at 100%, and I Thunderbolt to 65%. Then they Recover again to 100%. I never kill them. And I keep taking tox damage. Eventually my Dragapult dies to tox. Bad. So I need to avoid the Recover loop. Option: Switch to my Toxapex to break the loop. My Toxapex vs their Toxapex: - My Toxapex Toxic's theirs. They're now poisoned. - They can Recover, Toxic, Protect, Baneful Bunker (not revealed)... - Actually their revealed moves: Recover, Protect, Toxic. - Mirror Toxapex battle. My Toxapex has Regenerator (but only on switch), Big Root (Recover heals 50% * 1.5 = 75%? No, Big Root makes Recover heal 25% more, so 62.5%). Hmm, this is getting complicated. Let me think about the simplest winning line. Actually, the key realization: My Dragapult is Choice Scarf. If I Thunderbolt now and they Protect, I'm locked. If they Recover, I'm stuck looping. But wait — is there a way to guarantee a kill? Let me reconsider. What if I switch to my Toxapex NOW (before Thunderbolt)? - Their Toxapex is at 54%. - My Toxapex comes in. Regenerator doesn't trigger on coming in (only on switching OUT). - Then I Toxic them. They're poisoned. - They Recover to 100%? Then Toxic loop. But they're poisoned so they take damage. - Actually, if they Recover, my Toxapex just Recovers too. It's a stall. This is really a grind. Let me reconsider the Thunderbolt approach but think about whether they'll Protect or Recover. From the battle log: - Turn 4: Toxapex used Protect - Turn 5: Toxapex used Protect - Turn 6: Toxapex used Toxic (after Recover on turn 4) Wait, let me re-read: - Turn 3: Toxapex used Recover (healed to 100%) - Turn 4: Toxapex used Protect - Turn 5: Toxapex used Protect - Turn 6: Toxapex used Toxic So Toxapex has used: Recover (T3), Protect (T4), Protect (T5), Toxic (T6). Now at T7 it's at 54%. Hmm, it used Protect twice in a row (T4, T5). Now at T7, will it Protect again? If it Protects again, I'm locked into Thunderbolt (Choice Scarf). Then T8 Thunderbolt kills it (19% → dead). Win. If it Recovers, back to ~100%+ ... wait, Recover heals 50%. At 54%, Recover → 54 + 50 = ... actually Recover heals 50% of MAX HP, not current. So 54% + 25% (50% of 100%) = 79%? No wait. Hmm, actually the Sitrus berry on turn 6: "healed to 54% [from] item: Sitrus Berry". Sitrus heals 25% (1/4). So before Sitrus it was at 29%, then Sitrus brought it to 54% (29 + 25 = 54). Yes. Recover heals 50% of max = 25 percentage points. So at 54%, Recover → 79%. So if they Recover at T7, they go to 79%. Then T8 Thunderbolt → 79 - 35 = 44%. Not dead. Loop. OK here's the thing. The 35% Thunderbolt vs 50% Recover (25pp) means Thunderbolt < Recover in terms of net. Actually 35% damage vs 25% heal. So net they gain 25-35 = -10% per round if they Recover. Wait no. If they Recover (heal 25pp) and I Thunderbolt (35% dmg): net change for them = -35 + 25 = -10%. So they LOSE 10% net per round. Over time they'd die! Wait, let me recompute. If Toxapex is at X%, after Recover it's at min(X+25, 100). After my Thunderbolt it's at X - 35. Start at 54%. T7: I Thunderbolt → 19%. They Recover → 44% (19+25). Wait, but the order matters. If I Thunderbolt first (T7), they're at 19%. Then their move (T7 response): - If Recover → 44%. - T8: I Thunderbolt → 9%. They Recover → 34%. - T9: I Thunderbolt → -1% (dead!). So even if they Recover every time, I eventually kill them because Thunderbolt (35%) > Recover net heal when they're low. Because Recover caps at 100%, but Thunderbolt always does 35%. Wait, but at low HP, Recover heals 25pp (50% of max). Thunderbolt does 35%. So when they're at 19%, Recover → 44% (net +25), then Thunderbolt → 9% (net -35). Net over two turns: +25-35 = -10%. So yes, declining. Eventually dead. But this requires my Dragapult to survive. My Dragapult is toxed. Tox at level 50 does... about 1/16 per turn? Actually tox damage scales. At +tox (turn 3), it's 1/8 of max. My Dragapult is at 155/165. Tox damage ~ 165/8 ≈ 20 per turn when fully toxed. Over several turns, my Dragapult could die to tox before killing Toxapex. Hmm, but actually, let me reconsider. The tox on my Dragapult: it got toxed on Turn 6. By Turn 7, it's 1 turn of tox. Tox damage at 1 turn is 1/16. As turns pass, increases to 1/8 at turn 3+. Let me count: If the loop goes T7, T8, T9, T10... my Dragapult takes increasing tox damage. Over 4-5 turns it could take ~50+ damage. My Dragapult at 155 HP can absorb that. Actually, this is getting complicated. Let me step back and think about the cleanest win. The cleanest win: Thunderbolt now. If they Protect (likely given they Protect a lot), I'm locked but kill next turn. If they Recover, I still eventually kill them via the math above, and my toxed Dragapult can survive. But there's a risk with Choice Scarf lock: if they Protect, I'm locked into Thunderbolt. That's fine, I kill next turn. Actually, the biggest risk: what if they DON'T Protect and DON'T Recover, but use Toxic again? Then my Dragapult gets more tox (already toxed, no additional). Fine. Thunderbolt continues. Wait, actually, can they use a damaging move? Their revealed moves are only Recover, Protect, Toxic. So no damaging move. Good. My Dragapult is safe from damage (Toxapex can't hurt it with those moves; Baneful Bunker not revealed but possible). Hmm, Baneful Bunker! If their Toxapex has Baneful Bunker (not revealed), and I'm in close... but Dragapult is far (special attacker). Baneful Bunker is a contact move, only affects physical contact. Dragapult won't make contact. So fine. OK so the plan: Thunderbolt now. Let me reconsider whether to just go for it. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider the switch option. If I switch to my Toxapex: - Their Toxapex at 54%, not poisoned. - My Toxapex Toxic's them → poisoned. - Now it's a mirror. My Toxapex at 100%, theirs at 54% poisoned. - They could Recover → 79%. I Recover → 100% (Big Root). - They're poisoned, taking damage. I have Regenerator... no, only on switch. - This is a stall that I might win due to their poison, but it's slow and risky. Actually, my Toxapex vs their Toxapex: whoever toxes first wins typically, or it's a recover war. Since I'd Toxic first, I have the poison advantage. But they could Protect or Recover. Hmm, but actually there's a subtlety: if I switch to Toxapex and they Protect, I Toxic (fails? no, Toxic isn't blocked by Protect... wait, Protect blocks ALL moves including status). So if they Protect, my Toxic fails. Then they can Toxic me or Recover. This is getting too deep. Let me just go with the straightforward Thunderbolt. Actually, let me reconsider once more. The concern with Thunderbolt is the Choice Scarf lock combined with potential Protect. But if they Protect, lock is fine (kill next turn). If they Recover, the math still kills them eventually. So Thunderbolt seems fine. But wait, there's a real risk: what if they Protect at T7, I'm locked into Thunderbolt at T8, but... no, at T8 they're at 19%, Thunderbolt kills. Fine. What if they Recover at T7 (→79%), then Protect at T8? Then I'm locked into Thunderbolt (fails). T9 I'm still locked, Thunderbolt → 44%. Then T9 they Recover → 69%. Hmm, now I'm locked and they're healing. This is bad! Wait, let me redo. If they Recover at T7 (79%), then at T8 they Protect. I'm Choice-locked into Thunderbolt. T8 Thunderbolt fails (Protect). T9: still locked, Thunderbolt → 44%. T9 they Recover → 69%. T10 Thunderbolt → 34%. T10 Recover → 59%. This loops badly because I'm locked and they can Recover freely. So the danger is: they Recover once, then Protect, exploiting my Choice Scarf lock.Thinking budget reached. Stop thinking and give your final answer now.

ProtectToxapex (86/157, SpD -1, no item) vs faster Dragapult (81%, badly poisoned). Only Toxapex left; Gholdengo/Annihilape fainted. Dragapult moves first with Thunderbolt (SE). Toxapex has no attacking moves—win condition is stalling via Toxic + Protect/Recover. Opposing Gholdengo (17%) is blocked by Good as Gold and can't be damaged anyway. Protect avoids damage, scouts Dragapult's move, and lets poison tick. One hidden opponent remains.

Let me analyze the battle state carefully. Current situation: - My Toxapex is active at 86/157 HP (54.8%), SpD -1 boost, no item (Sitrus Berry was consumed), Regenerator ability. - Opponent Dragapult is active at 81% HP, badly poisoned (tox), faster than me (Spe 145-213 vs my 55). - Opponent Gholdengo is at 17% in reserve, Good as Gold ability. - One more opponent Pokémon still to come in (from corviknight, toxapex, annihilape, kingambit). - My Gholdengo and Annihilape are fainted. Legal actions: 1. toxic - Dragapult is already badly poisoned, so this is useless 2. recover - Heals 50% of max HP 3. protect - Protects from moves this turn 4. haze - Eliminates stat changes (my SpD -1) Dragapult is badly poisoned and will take poison damage each turn. It's faster and uses Thunderbolt (super effective against Toxapex). My Toxapex has no item now. Regenerator heals 1/3 max HP when switching out. Let me think about the best play: Dragapult is at 81% and badly poisoned. Each turn it takes poison damage. If I can stall it out, the poison will eventually kill it. But Dragapult is faster and can 2HKO or possibly OHKO Toxapex with Thunderbolt. Toxapex at 86/157. Dragapult Thunderbolt is super effective. At level 50, Dragapult SpA 108-167. Let me estimate damage... Thunderbolt (90 BP) from a ~137 SpA Dragapult against Toxapex's 224 Def... wait, Toxapex's SpD is 164 base but with -1 it's lower. Actually the damage calc would be significant. Options: - Recover: Heal back to ~122 HP, but Dragapult moves first and will hit me before I recover. If Dragapult uses Thunderbolt, I might take heavy damage then recover. - Protect: Scout and avoid damage, let poison tick. - Haze: Remove my own SpD -1, but Dragapult moves first and might hit me before haze. Also haze doesn't help offensively. - Toxic: Useless, already poisoned. Since Dragapult is badly poisoned and at 81%, stalling with Protect seems reasonable to let poison damage accumulate. But I need to be careful - Dragapult might switch out to Gholdengo (17%) or the unknown 6th Pokémon. Actually, wait. The opponent's Gholdengo is at 17% and has Good as Gold, which blocks status moves. But Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo anyway (no damaging moves). The key question: should I Protect or Recover? If I Protect: - Dragapult moves first (likely Thunderbolt or switches) - If Thunderbolt: I take damage, poison ticks on Dragapult - If Dragapult switches: I avoid damage, can Recover next turn or set up If I Recover: - Dragapult moves first with Thunderbolt, likely doing significant damage - Then I recover 50% - Net might be similar or worse than Protect Since Dragapult is faster, Recover is risky - I take a hit then heal. Protect avoids the hit entirely and lets poison do work. Also, my SpD is -1. Haze could remove that, but Dragapult moves first so I'd likely take a hit before Haze goes off. And Haze doesn't address the main threat. I think Protect is the best choice here. It scouts Dragapult's move, avoids damage, and lets the toxic damage accumulate on Dragapult. Dragapult at 81% badly poisoned will take ~13% damage per turn (increasing each turn), so it won't last long. Actually, let me reconsider. The notes say "Protect to scout Dragapult's move, avoid damage, and let Toxic tick". This has been working. Dragapult is at 81% and badly poisoned. Continuing to Protect seems right. But wait - should I consider switching? I can't switch - only Toxapex is left (others are fainted). So I must use a move. Protect seems like the best option. Let me also consider if Dragapult might use a different move or switch out. If it switches to Gholdengo (17%), Gholdengo is Ghost/Steel and Toxapex can't touch it with Toxic (Good as Gold blocks it) or any damaging move. But if Dragapult switches out, the poison ends? No, poison persists on the Pokémon that was poisoned. Actually, if Dragapult switches out, the new Pokémon comes in and I'd need to deal with it. But Protect is still safe. Let me go with Protect. Wait, I should also think about Haze. My SpD is -1. If I Haze, I remove the -1, but Dragapult moves first. If Dragapult uses Thunderbolt, I take super effective damage with lowered SpD, then Haze goes off. That's bad. If I Protect first, I avoid damage, then next turn I could Haze if needed. But Haze doesn't help me win - I have no way to damage Dragapult significantly (Toxic is already applied, and my other moves don't do much). Actually, Toxapex's only attacking option is... it has no attacking moves! Toxic, Recover, Protect, Haze - all status moves. So I can only stall. The win condition is: let Toxic kill Dragapult, then deal with whatever comes next. But I have no way to damage the opponent's remaining Pokémon (Gholdengo at 17% is immune to my status due to Good as Gold, and I have no attacking moves). Hmm, this is a tough spot. But for this turn, Protect is still the best - avoid damage, let poison work, scout. Actually, wait. Could Recover be better? If Dragapult is going to switch out (maybe to Gholdengo to block my status, or to the 6th Pokémon), then Protect wastes a turn. But if Dragapult stays and attacks, Protect saves me. Given Dragapult is badly poisoned at 81%, it might try to finish me off quickly before poison kills it. Thunderbolt is super effective. So Protect to avoid the hit seems wise. I'll go with Protect.
Ornith 1.5 35B switched toGholdengoMy Dragapult is Choice-locked (probably) into Thunderbolt and toxed; a Thunderbolt only chips Toxapex to ~19%, and if it Recovers I'm stuck in a losing stall loop while Toxic damages me. Their Toxapex only has Recover/Protect/Toxic — all useless vs Gholdengo (Steel immune to Poison). Switch to Gholdengo and KO it safely.

Let me think about this situation carefully. My Dragapult is Choice Scarf locked? No wait, last turn I used Thunderbolt (turn 7), so I'm now locked into Thunderbolt. Actually let me re-read. Turn 7: My Dragapult used Thunderbolt (failed due to Protect). So I'm Choice-locked into Thunderbolt now. Wait, Choice Scarf locks you into the first move you execute. On turn 7, Thunderbolt "failed" due to Protect. Does a failed move still lock you? In Pokémon, if a move fails due to Protect, it does NOT count as being used for Choice lock purposes... Actually, let me think. The rule: "If a move fails or is rejected, the Pokémon is not locked." Actually the Choice lock only applies when the move is successfully selected and executed. If Protect blocks it, the move "failed" and you are NOT locked. Hmm, actually this is nuanced. Let me recall the exact mechanic. From Bulbapedia: "If a Pokémon is locked into a move by a Choice item, and the move fails (e.g., due to Protect), the Pokémon is not locked into that move on the next turn." Wait, is that right? Actually, I recall that Protect does cause the Pokémon to remain locked. Let me think again... The actual mechanic: A Pokémon wearing a Choice item is locked into the first move it uses. If that move fails due to Protect/Detect, the Pokémon IS still locked. Hmm, no. Let me reconsider. From the game mechanics: "A Pokémon's move is locked... If the selected move fails to execute (for example because of Protect), the Pokémon is not locked into that move." Actually I need to be careful. There's a well-known interaction: Protect does NOT break the Choice lock. Wait... Let me recall the specific rule. From Smogon / Bulbapedia: "Choice items: The Pokémon is locked into the first move it selects. If the selected move fails (e.g., due to Protect, or being of a different type than the locked move's category... no), the Pokémon is still locked into that move." Hmm, I've seen conflicting info. Let me think about the actual battle log. On turn 7, the log says: "Your Dragapult used Thunderbolt" then "Opposing Toxapex: Protect activated". So Dragapult selected Thunderbolt. Now the question is whether Dragapult is locked into Thunderbolt this turn. Actually, I recall now: In modern Pokémon (Gen 6+), if a move is blocked by Protect, the Pokémon is NOT locked. Wait, no. Let me look at this from the game data perspective. The Choice Lock mechanic: The game checks if the move would be executed. If Protect blocks it... Actually, I'm now fairly confident: Protect does NOT break the Choice lock. The Pokémon remains locked. This is a commonly known "gotcha." Wait, but actually I've also seen that it does break. Hmm, let me reconsider by thinking about what makes sense and what the log shows. Actually, the definitive answer: In Generation 6 and later, if a Pokémon's locked move is blocked by Protect/Detect, the Pokémon is NOT locked into that move for the next turn. This was changed. Wait... Let me just recall the actual current mechanic. From Bulbapedia on Choice Scarf: "Holder can only select the first move it executes, unless it fainted or the move is no longer available..." And on Choice Lock: "If a Pokémon is locked into a move and that move fails to hit (e.g., because of Protect, or because it missed), the Pokémon is still locked into that move." Hmm, actually I think the correct answer is that Protect does NOT break the lock. Let me verify with reasoning: The reason is that the game registers the move as "used" even if Protect blocks it. Wait, but actually there's a distinction. Let me recall... OK here's what I actually remember clearly: If you use a move that gets blocked by Protect while wearing a Choice item, you ARE locked into that move. This is why Choice-locked Pokémon get punished by Protect. Yes, I'm confident about this now. Protect does NOT break the Choice lock. Wait, no. Let me reconsider once more. I've definitely seen discussions where people say "Protect breaks the Choice lock." Ugh. Let me think about the turn 6 note I wrote: "If they Protect, I'm locked but kill next turn." So I assumed I'd be locked. And turn 7 I used Thunderbolt again (I chose Thunderbolt on turn 7). Wait, on turn 7 the log shows "Your Dragapult used Thunderbolt" — that was my choice. And I was at 135 HP. Actually, wait. On turn 7, was I locked? Let me re-read. Turn 6: "Your Dragapult used Thunderbolt" (super effective, Toxapex to 29%), then Toxapex used Toxic. So on turn 6 I used Thunderbolt successfully. That would lock me into Thunderbolt. Turn 7: "Your Dragapult used Thunderbolt" — yes I used Thunderbolt (locked), blocked by Protect. So now on turn 8, if Protect doesn't break the lock, I'm locked into Thunderbolt. If it does break, I'm free. Given the uncertainty, let me think about the optimal play regardless. Current situation: - My Dragapult (Choice Scarf, toxed) at 81.8% HP, locked into Thunderbolt (probably). - Their Toxapex at 54% HP, with -1 Spd. - Thunderbolt is super effective. If I'm locked into Thunderbolt: Thunderbolt at 54% Toxapex. Let me estimate damage. My notes say Thunderbolt does ~35% at full HP. At 54%, it would do ~35% * (1/0.54)... wait no. Damage is fixed based on HP pool. If full HP Thunderbolt does ~35%, then at 54% HP it does the same absolute damage which is ~35%/0.54 ≈ 65% of current HP. So 54% - 65% = would faint. Wait, that doesn't sound right either. Let me recompute. My turn 6 note: "Thunderbolt is super effective (~35%)". This was against full HP Toxapex. So Thunderbolt does ~35% of Toxapex's max HP. Toxapex is now at 54%. A Thunderbolt doing 35% of max HP would bring it from 54% to 19%. So it would NOT faint. It would bring Toxapex to ~19%. Wait, but my turn 7 note said "Thunderbolt now to chip to ~19%". So after this Thunderbolt, Toxapex would be at ~19%. That confirms Thunderbolt does ~35% of max HP. So if I use Thunderbolt now (if not locked), I bring Toxapex to ~19%. Then they can Recover (to ~44%? Recover heals 50% of max, so 19% → but wait, Recover heals to... it heals 50% of max HP. From 19% it would go to 19% + 50% = 69%? No wait, they already used Recover once. Hmm, but they could use it again). Actually, let me reconsider. The key strategic question: Am I locked into Thunderbolt? If I'm locked: I must use Thunderbolt. It brings Toxapex to ~19%. Then on turn 9, Toxapex will either Recover (back up) or take the hit and... at 19% it's alive. Then turn 9 they Recover to ~69% (50% max heal). Then turn 10 I Thunderbolt again to ~34%. This could loop. Hmm wait, but actually if I'm locked and they Protect, I'm stuck. Let me think about whether switching is better. Options this turn: 1. MOVE: thunderbolt (if I can, i.e., not locked) 2. SWITCH: gholdengo (17.9% HP) 3. SWITCH: toxapex (100% HP) The safest way to win this mirror: Switch to my own Toxapex. My Toxapex vs their Toxapex is a pure mirror. With Regenerator and Recover, I can stall forever. Their Toxapex is toxed? No, my Dragapult got toxed, not... wait, their Toxapex used Toxic on my Dragapult. Their Toxapex itself is not poisoned. Actually, the cleanest win: Switch to my Toxapex. Then it's Toxapex vs Toxapex. I have Regenerator, they have... unknown ability (possible Merciless, Limber, Regenerator). My Toxapex can Toxic them, and if they're Merciless, my Toxic would crit... no wait, Merciless makes MY (Toxapex's) attacks crit when target is poisoned. Hmm. Actually, the simplest winning plan: My Toxapex vs their Toxapex. I Toxic them, they Toxic me, we both stall. But I have Recover and they have Recover. This could go forever, but eventually... Actually in a Toxapex mirror, whoever has the advantage. Both have Recover. It might be a stall that leads to a loss by... no, there's no lose-timer in this format I think. Actually, hmm. Wait, but actually the better plan might be to just win with Dragapult. Let me reconsider. If I'm NOT locked into Thunderbolt (Protect broke the lock), then I can choose. But actually, let me reconsider whether I'm locked. Let me reconsider the Choice lock + Protect interaction definitively. From Bulbapedia (Choice Scarf): "The holder can only select the first move it executes." From Bulbapedia (Choice Lock): "A Pokémon that is locked into a move by a Choice item... If the move fails to execute (for example, because it was blocked by Protect or Detect), the Pokémon is not locked into that move." Hmm, actually I need to recall this correctly. Let me think about real gameplay experience. I'm now recalling: In recent generations, if your Choice-locked move is blocked by Protect, you ARE still locked. This is a well-known punishment. For example, a Choice-locked Pokémon that gets Protected is stuck and takes a free hit. Wait, but actually I've also definitely seen "Protect breaks Choice lock" claims. Let me reason from the game code logic. In Showdown, the Choice Lock is implemented such that once a move is chosen and the turn resolves, if the move was "executed" (even if blocked by Protect), the Pokémon is locked. Actually, Showdown's implementation: the lock is set when the move is chosen. If Protect blocks it, the move still "counts" as used. Hmm, I really think Protect does NOT break the Choice lock in current gens. Let me go with that: I'm locked into Thunderbolt. Wait, actually, let me reconsider. I found it. The rule is: "If a Pokémon's move is blocked by Protect/Detect, the Pokémon is NOT locked into that move." — This is actually the correct rule for... no. Ugh, I keep going back and forth. Let me just think about what's optimal and whether it matters. Case A: I'm locked into Thunderbolt. - I must use Thunderbolt. Toxapex → ~19%. - Turn 9: Toxapex can Recover (→ ~69%) or take it (→ alive at 19%, then...). If they Recover, I'm still locked into Thunderbolt (I have to use it since I'm Choice-locked and Thunderbolt is still available). Thunderbolt on ~69% Toxapex → ~34%. Turn 10: they Recover again → ~84%? No wait. Hmm, this is getting complicated. Let me reconsider. Actually, wait. If I'm Choice-locked into Thunderbolt and they keep Recovering, I can never switch out. That's bad. But eventually their Recover PP runs out (Recover has 8/8 PP shown). And they have Sitrus Berry. So they can Recover 8 times + Sitrus. That's a lot of stalling. But wait — I'm toxed. My Dragapult is taking damage from Toxic. And their Toxapex is not poisoned. So in a prolonged exchange, I'm at a disadvantage (I'm losing HP from Toxic, they're not). Actually, the cleanest solution: Switch out to my Toxapex NOW (before using Thunderbolt), IF I'm not locked. But if I AM locked, I can't switch. Hmm, but switching is a legal action this turn. If I were locked, switching wouldn't be legal. The fact that SWITCH is listed as a legal action suggests... no, switches are always listed as legal options regardless. Wait, actually, in this interface, all legal actions are shown. If I were Choice-locked, would SWITCH still be shown? Let me think. In Showdown, if you're Choice-locked, you can still switch (switching is always allowed; the lock only applies when you stay in). So SWITCH being shown doesn't tell me whether I'm locked. OK let me just decide based on strategy. The best play here is to switch to my Toxapex. Here's why: - My Dragapult is toxed and Choice-locked (probably) into Thunderbolt. If their Toxapex Recovers, I'm stuck in a losing stall loop (I'm losing HP from Toxic, they're not). - Switching to my Toxapex (100% HP, Regenerator, full PP) gives me a clean mirror. My Toxapex can Toxic their Toxapex, and with Regenerator I heal between turns. Actually, in a mirror, I want to Toxic them and Recover. But wait, is my Toxapex going to win the mirror? Both have Recover. If I Toxic them, they take Toxic damage. They can Toxic me back. Then we both stall with Recover. This could theoretically go forever, but in practice, one side's PP runs out. Hmm, actually, let me reconsider. My Toxapex has: Recover 8/8, Toxic 16/16, Baneful Bunker 16/16, Haze 48/48. Their Toxapex has Recover (used once, so maybe 7/8 PP left), Protect (used twice, so 6/8 PP left), Toxic (used once, so 15/16 PP left). If I Toxic them now, they're poisoned. They can Recover (heal + take toxic damage) or Protect or Toxic me. Actually, the simplest winning line: My Toxapex Toxic, then Recover each turn. Their Toxapex is poisoned and can't out-stall me because... hmm, they also have Recover. Wait, actually there's a subtlety. If both have Recover and both are stalling, the game might just... continue indefinitely? No, in a real match there's usually a turn limit or the game ends when one side can't deal damage. But in this format, I think we just need to KO or the opponent concedes. Let me reconsider. Actually, the most reliable win is to just KO their Toxapex. My Dragapult's Thunderbolt at ~19% isn't a KO. But if I can get them lower... Alternative: Switch to Gholdengo? Gholdengo at 17.9% HP. Their Toxapex vs my Gholdengo. Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost, immune to Poison. Their Toxapex can only do... Recover/Protect/Toxic. Toxic doesn't affect Gholdengo (Steel immune to Poison). So Gholdengo is completely safe from their Toxapex's moves! Gholdengo can just use Make It Rain or Shadow Ball to KO. Wait, that's brilliant. Their Toxapex only has Recover, Protect, and Toxic. None of these damage Gholdengo (Toxic is Poison-type, Gholdengo is Steel-type, immune). So if I switch to Gholdengo, their Toxapex can't hurt it. Then Gholdengo just KOs with Make It Rain or Shadow Ball. But wait, Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP. Does their Toxapex have any move that can hurt Gholdengo? Revealed moves: Recover, Protect, Toxic. That's it. So no. Gholdengo is safe. But hold on — is their Toxapex possibly carrying another move not revealed? The log only shows Recover, Protect, Toxic being used. In this format, we see the moves as they're used. So their Toxapex has exactly those 3 moves revealed (plus one unknown slot). The unknown move could be anything, but given it's a Toxapex, it's likely Baneful Bunker or Haze or something. Even so, those don't damage Gholdengo. Baneful Bunker is Poison (immune). Haze is Ice-type status (Gholdengo immune to status? No, but Haze doesn't damage). So Gholdengo is safe. Actually wait, could their Toxapex have a damaging move? Toxapex's movepool is very limited: Poison Sting, Toxic, Recover, Baneful Bunker, Haze, Spider Web, Sting, Constrict, Poison Jab... Actually Toxapex can learn Poison Jab (Poison), Poison Sting (Poison). Both Poison-type, Gholdengo immune. So no damaging move can hurt Gholdengo. Therefore, switching to Gholdengo is a guaranteed win! Their Toxapex cannot damage Gholdengo at all. Gholdengo just uses Make It Rain (120 BP Steel) or Shadow Ball (80 BP Ghost). Let me check: Gholdengo's Make It Rain is Steel-type, 120 BP. Toxapex is Poison/Water. Steel is not very effective against... wait, Toxapex is Poison/Water. Steel vs Poison: not very effective (50%). Steel vs Water: neutral. So Make It Rain is 50% effective against Toxapex. Shadow Ball is Ghost-type. Ghost vs Poison: neutral. Ghost vs Water: neutral. So Shadow Ball is neutral. Wait, but Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost. Its Shadow Ball is Ghost-type, neutral against Toxapex. Make It Rain is Steel, 50% effective. Gholdengo at 17.9% HP withThinking budget reached. Stop thinking and give your final answer now.

Let me analyze the current battle state carefully. Current situation: - My Toxapex is active at 86/157 HP (54.8%), SpD -1, no item (Sitrus Berry was consumed) - Opponent's Gholdengo is active at 17% HP, Good as Gold ability (immune to status moves) - Opponent's Dragapult is at 81% HP, badly poisoned (tox), but it's not active right now - Gholdengo is active - Speed: Toxapex 55 vs Gholdengo 93-149 - Gholdengo moves first Wait, let me re-read. The active Pokémon is opposing Gholdengo at 17% HP. Dragapult is at 81% but is it active? Looking at the battle log: Turn 8: Opposing Gholdengo came in. So Gholdengo is the active opponent Pokémon. My Toxapex has no damaging moves. Gholdengo has Good as Gold which makes it immune to status moves. So Toxic won't work on Gholdengo. Options: 1. Toxic - won't work on Gholdengo (Good as Gold blocks status moves) 2. Recover - heal 50% HP 3. Protect - protect from attacks this turn 4. Haze - removes stat changes, but Good as Gold blocks status moves Since Gholdengo is at 17% and has Good as Gold, I can't status it. I have no attacking moves. Gholdengo at 17% will likely use Shadow Ball which is super effective against Toxapex. Toxapex is at 86/157 with SpD -1. A Shadow Ball from Gholdengo could potentially KO or heavily damage Toxapex. Wait, but Dragapult is also on the field at 81% and badly poisoned. Is Dragapult still in battle? In Pokémon Showdown singles with one Pokémon per side, only one is active. Gholdengo came in on Turn 8, so Gholdengo is active. Dragapult must have switched out or... wait, let me re-read the log. Turn 4: Opposing Dragapult came in Turn 5-7: Dragapult is active using Thunderbolt Turn 8: Opposing Gholdengo came in So Gholdengo switched in on Turn 8, replacing Dragapult. Dragapult is still in the party but not active. It's badly poisoned though. Now, Gholdengo at 17% is active. It will likely attack with Shadow Ball. Since I have no way to damage Gholdengo (no attacking moves, and status is blocked by Good as Gold), I should either: - Protect to scout and avoid damage - Recover to heal up Since Gholdengo moves first and will likely use Shadow Ball (SE), Protect seems safer to avoid taking damage while I figure out what to do. But actually, since Gholdengo is at 17%, it might be close to fainting from poison... wait, Dragapult is the one poisoned, not Gholdengo. Actually, looking more carefully - Dragapult is badly poisoned but it's not active. Gholdengo is active at 17%. Since I can't damage Gholdengo and it can damage me, Protect is the safest option to scout its move and avoid damage. But Recover could also be good to heal up since I'll likely take a hit. Actually, let me think about this differently. Gholdengo at 17% with Shadow Ball - if it uses Shadow Ball, Toxapex will take significant damage. Protect avoids that. Then next turn I can reassess. But wait - if I Protect, Gholdengo might switch out or use a different move. Since I have no way to pressure Gholdengo, stalling seems like the only option. Protect seems like the best choice here. It avoids damage from Shadow Ball, lets me see what Gholdengo does, and preserves my HP. Actually, I should consider: Dragapult is badly poisoned and will take damage each turn. If Dragapult comes back in, it'll be on a timer. But right now Gholdengo is active. Let me go with Protect to avoid the Shadow Ball hit and scout.

Their Toxapex at 54% has used Protect 5x and Recover 1x; pattern (P,P,X,P,P,X) suggests Turn 9 is a non-Protect turn. Shadow Ball is super effective (~43%, wiseglasses) but likely won't KO from 54%. Best line: hit now, force a Recover, then chip again. Switching to my Toxapex is a risky stall mirror.

Let me analyze the situation. My Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP (29/162), toxed? No wait, let me check. My Gholdengo has goodasgold which makes it immune to status moves. So it's not toxed. Wait, the notes say "toxed" for Dragapult. Gholdengo is at 29/162 = 17.9%. Their Toxapex is at 54% HP. My Gholdengo moves first (106 speed vs 49-95). I need to kill their Toxapex. Let me calculate. Their Toxapex is at 54%. Shadow Ball is super effective (Ghost vs Poison). Let me estimate damage. My Gholdengo SpA 203 * wiseglasses 1.1x. Shadow Ball power 80. Toxapex SpD 145-213. Actually, let me think about what move to use. The notes from earlier turns say Thunderbolt only does ~35%. Shadow Ball does 43%. Let me reconsider. Their Toxapex at 54%. A Shadow Ball super effective... Let me estimate. Actually the earlier notes said Shadowball does 43% per hit. So from 54%, Shadow Ball would bring it to ~11%, not killing. Wait, but I need to kill it. Let me reconsider. Toxapex has Recover. If I hit with Shadow Ball, it goes to ~11%, then it Recovers to ~61%. That's bad. Hmm, but Toxapex has used Protect twice and Recover once already. Let me think about the pattern. Actually, let me reconsider the damage. Let me compute more carefully. Gholdengo SpA = 203. Wiseglasses = 1.1x. Shadow Ball BP = 80. Target Toxapex SpD. Toxapex SpD range 145-213, but it had spd -1 boost. Actually the -1 is Speed, not SpD. So SpD is full. Damage formula (level 50): Damage = ((2*50/5+2) * Power * (AttackerSpA/DefenderSpD) / 50 + 2) * Modifier = ((10+2) * 80 * (203*1.1/SpD) / 50 + 2) * Modifier = (12 * 80 * (223.3/SpD) / 50 + 2) * Modifier = (960 * 223.3/SpD / 50 + 2) * Modifier = (19.2 * 223.3/SpD + 2) * Modifier If SpD = 213 (max): 19.2 * 1.048 + 2 = 20.1 + 2 = 22.1. Times super effective 2x = 44.2. Times random 0.85-1.0 (avg 0.925) = ~41. If SpD = 145 (min): 19.2 * 1.54 + 2 = 29.6 + 2 = 31.6. Times 2x = 63.2. Times 0.925 = ~58. So Shadow Ball does roughly 41-58% depending on Toxapex's SpD. Average ~43-50%. Toxapex at 54%. If Shadow Ball does 43%, it goes to 11%. If 58%, it goes to 0% (KO). So it's a range. With wiseglasses and super effective, likely kills if SpD is on lower end, but might not if SpD is maxed. Hmm, this is risky. Let me think about the best approach. Actually, the key insight: their Toxapex has Recover. If I don't KO it in one hit, it Recovers. So I want to KO it. Let me reconsider. The earlier notes said "Thunderbolt only does ~35%, less than Shadowball's 43%". So Shadow Ball ~43%. From 54%, that's to 11%. Not a KO. But wait, that was Dragapult's Thunderball. My Gholdengo's Shadow Ball with wiseglasses... Let me recompute. Actually the 43% figure already accounts for wiseglasses probably. Hmm. So a single Shadow Ball from 54% doesn't KO. It goes to ~11%. Then Toxapex Recovers. But Toxapex has only used Recover once so far. Let me think about the pattern of Protect/Recover. Turn 3: Toxapex Recovered (to 100%) Turn 4: Toxapex Protected Turn 5: Toxapex Protected Turn 6: Toxapex used Sitrus Berry (healed to 54%), then Toxic Turn 7: Toxapex Protected Turn 8: Toxapex Protected So the pattern: Recover, Protect, Protect, Sitrus+Toxic, Protect, Protect. Now Turn 9. Toxapex is at 54%. It has used Recover once, Sitrus once, Protect five times, Toxic once. If I hit with Shadow Ball (~43%), it goes to ~11%. Then it might Protect again (6th protect) or Recover. If it Protects, I need another hit. If it Recovers, I'm in trouble. Actually, let me reconsider. Maybe I should just go for the KO and hope. But the risk is real. Alternatively, switch to my Toxapex. My Toxapex is at 100%, Regenerator. But then it's a stall mirror. My Toxapex can Toxic it, but their Toxapex is already... no, my Toxapex would Toxic them. Actually a Toxapex mirror is a coin flip based on PP. Wait, actually, let me reconsider. The opponent's Toxapex has used Recover once and Sitrus once. Its PP for Recover is 8/8 (full, it's the opponent's). Hmm, actually the revealed moves are recover, protect, toxic. So it has those three moves. Let me think about the safest line. My Gholdengo at 17.9% is very risky. If I stay and they somehow... no, their Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo (Poison immune, and it has no other attacking moves revealed—only Recover, Protect, Toxic). So Gholdengo is safe from damage. The only issue is if Toxapex Recovers and I can't kill it. So the question is: can I kill their Toxapex before it Recovers to a safe level? If I Shadow Ball now (54% -> ~11%), and it Recovers (11% -> ~36%), then I Shadow Ball again (36% -> negative, KO). So two Shadow Balls kill it even after one Recover. But if it Protects, I waste a turn. Actually, let me reconsider the damage more carefully. Let me assume Shadow Ball does ~43-50%. 54% -> Shadow Ball -> ~4-11%. If Recover: 4-11% -> ~15-28% (Recover heals 50% of max... wait, Recover heals to 50% of max HP, not 50% of current). Wait, Recover heals by 50% of MAX HP. So if at 11%, Recover brings it to 11% + 50% = 61%. If at 4%, brings to 54%. Hmm wait, that's what happened in turn 6: Sitrus brought it to 54%, and earlier Recover brought it to 100%. So if I Shadow Ball to 11%, then Recover brings it to 61%. Then I need to hit again. Actually, let me reconsider. This is getting complicated. Let me think about whether a single Shadow Ball can KO. The issue is Toxapex's SpD is unknown (145-213). If it's a defensive Toxapex with high SpD, Shadow Ball won't KO. If it's lower SpD, it might. Given the uncertainty, and that my Gholdengo is at 17.9% (but safe since Toxapex can't damage it), maybe the best line is to just Shadow Ball and see. If it doesn't KO and Recovers, I can hit again next turn (but I'd be at risk if... no, I'm safe). Wait, but if Toxapex Recovers to 61% and then Protects, I'm stuck. Let me think. Actually, the cleanest line: Shadow Ball now. If KO, win. If not KO and it Recovers, Shadow Ball again next turn. If it Protects, I need to predict. Hmm, but there's a subtlety. If I Shadow Ball and it's not a KO, and it Recovers, then next turn I Shadow Ball again. But if it Protects that turn, I've wasted a turn and it's still alive. Let me reconsider the Protect pattern. Toxapex has Protect'd 5 times in a row essentially (turns 4,5,7,8 and... wait let me recount). Turn 4: Protect Turn 5: Protect Turn 6: Sitrus + Toxic (no protect) Turn 7: Protect Turn 8: Protect So it Protects in patterns of 2, with breaks for Recover (turn 3) and Sitrus+Toxic (turn 6). Pattern: P, P, [Recover], P, P, [Sitrus+Toxic], ... So after two Protects, it does something else. Turn 8 was the 4th protect (2nd pair). So Turn 9 might be a 3rd protect? Or it might break the pattern. Actually the pattern seems to be: Protect, Protect, then non-protect. So turns 4,5 = pair 1, then turn 6 non-protect. Turns 7,8 = pair 2, then turn 9 should be non-protect. So Turn 9, Toxapex likely does NOT Protect. It might Recover or Toxic or Sitrus. If it doesn't Protect, my Shadow Ball will hit. If it does Shadow Ball and it's not a KO, and it Recovers... Hmm, let me just go for Shadow Ball. It's super effective and wiseglasses-boosted. Even if it doesn't KO, I can follow up. And my Gholdengo is safe. Actually wait, let me reconsider. Is there a risk that Toxapex Recovers and I can't kill it? Let me think about PP. My Shadow Ball has 21/24 PP left. Plenty. But the real issue: if Toxapex Recovers to 61% and then Protects, I need to break Protect. But I don't have a great option. Shadow Ball would hit through... no, Protect blocks it. Let me reconsider. Actually, the smartest play might be to just Shadow Ball now and force the issue. Given the pattern analysis suggests Turn 9 is a non-protect turn, my Shadow Ball should connect. If it KOs, great. If not, Toxapex likely Recovers (following pattern), and I hit again next turn. Actually, let me reconsider whether to switch to my Toxapex. My Toxapex at 100% with Regenerator. In a Toxapex mirror, whoever wins depends on... both have Recover, Toxic, Baneful Bunker, Haze (mine) vs Recover, Protect, Toxic (theirs). Actually my Toxapex has Haze which clears boosts, and Baneful Bunker. But the opponent's Toxapex can just Protect and Recover. A stall mirror is a coin flip and could go either way. Not ideal. The Gholdengo line is cleaner: I have super-effective attacks that Toxapex can't block except Protect. And Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo. Let me go with Shadow Ball. If it KOs, win. If not, I follow up. Wait, but let me reconsider the damage one more time. Let me be more careful. Actually, I realize I should double check: does Shadow Ball KO from 54%? Let me use the numbers. Gholdengo SpA 203, wiseglasses 1.1x = 223.3 effective. Shadow Ball BP 80. Toxapex SpD unknown. At SpD 213: damage ~44% (computed above, before random). With random 0.85-1.0. So 37.4-44%. From 54%, that's 16.6-17%. Not a KO. At SpD 145: damage ~63%. With random 53.6-63%. From 54%, KO (barely at low end 53.6%, need >54%... 53.6 < 54, so not quite at 0.85 random. At higher random it KOs). Hmm, so it's really borderline. At max SpD, definitely not a KO. At min SpD, maybe a KO. Wait, but the earlier notes said Shadow Ball does 43%. That suggests the Toxapex has high SpD (near max), so Shadow Ball does ~43%, not a KO. So a single Shadow Ball from 54% does NOT KO. It brings Toxapex to ~11%. Then Toxapex Recovers to ~61%. Then I Shadow Ball again to ~24% (43% of 61% = 26%, so 61-26 = 35%... wait let me recompute). Actually 43% of 61% HP remaining = 0.43 * (54% of max)... this is getting confusing. Let me use actual HP. Let's say Toxapex max HP = 157 (mid). At 54% = 85 HP. Shadow Ball does 43% of max = 67.5 damage. 85 - 67.5 = 17.5 HP = 11%. Then Recover heals 50% of max = 78.5. 17.5 + 78.5 = 96 HP = 61%. Then Shadow Ball again 67.5 damage. 96 - 67.5 = 28.5 HP = 18%. Then Shadow Ball again: 28.5 - 67.5 < 0, KO. So it takes 3 Shadow Balls to kill Toxapex if it Recovers once. But if Toxapex Protects, I waste turns. Hmm, this is a long game. But my Gholdengo is safe (Toxapex can't damage it). And I have 21/24 Shadow Ball PP. So I can afford to chip it. But wait, there's a risk: if Toxapex Recovers and then Protects, and I Shadow Ball (blocked), then it Recovers again or Protects again. I could get stuck. Actually, let me reconsider. The pattern suggests Turn 9 is a non-protect turn. So my Shadow Ball connects. Toxapex goes to ~11%. Then Turn 10, Toxapex likely Recovers (following pattern: after Protect, Protect, non-protect... wait the pattern is P,P,X,P,P,X). Hmm, actually let me recount the pattern: Turn 3: Recover (X) Turn 4: Protect Turn 5: Protect Turn 6: Sitrus + Toxic (X) Turn 7: Protect Turn 8: Protect Turn 9: ? So the pattern is X, P, P, X, P, P, X... So Turn 9 should be X (non-protect). If Turn 9 is X, Toxapex might Recover or Toxic or Sitrus. If it Recovers now (before I hit), that's bad—it goes from 54% to ~79%. Then my Shadow Ball brings it to ~36%. Then Turn 10 it Protects (P), I waste turn. Ugh. Wait, but I move first (Gholdengo 106 vs Toxapex 49-95). So I hit first. Toxapex can't Recover before I hit. OK so Turn 9: I Shadow Ball first. Toxapex at 54% -> ~11%. Then Toxapex acts. If it Recovers -> 61%. If it Protects -> I hit next turn (blocked). If it Toxic -> I'm safe (goodasgold). Given the pattern (Turn 9 is X/non-protect), Toxapex likely Recovers or Toxics. If it Recovers, I hit again Turn 10. If it Toxics, I'm safe. But wait, the pattern says Turn 9 is X, but X could be Protect too (Protect is a "non-damage" move). Hmm, actually Protect is X in my pattern. Let me reconsider. The pattern I inferred: after 2 Protects, Toxapex does something else (Recover or Sitrus+Toxic). So: Turn 4,5: P,P Turn 6: X (Sitrus+Toxic) Turn 7,8: P,P Turn 9: X (should be Recover or Sitrus or Toxic) So Turn 9 is likely NOT Protect. Good. My Shadow Ball connects. But there's still the risk that Toxapex Recovers after I hit. Let me just go for it. Shadow Ball now. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider the whole thing. Is there a better option? Option A: Shadow Ball now. Connects (likely). Toxapex to ~11%. Then it Recovers to 61%. Turn 10 Shadow Ball to ~24%. Turn 11... it might Protect. Risk ofThinking budget reached. Stop thinking and give your final answer now.

Reasoning trace (2,555 words)
The user wants me to choose an action for Turn 10 in a Pokémon Showdown battle. Let me analyze the situation: My active Pokémon: Toxapex at 86/157 HP (54.8%), SpD -1, no item (Sitrus Berry consumed), PP: toxic 15/16, recover 7/8, protect 11/16, haze 48/48. Ability: Regenerator. Opponent active: Gholdengo at 17% HP, Good as Gold (immune to status moves). Revealed move: Shadow Ball. Opponent Dragapult: 81% HP, badly poisoned (tox), not active. Speed: Toxapex 55 vs Gholdengo 93-149, so Gholdengo moves first. Legal actions: 1. toxic - status move, blocked by Good as Gold, useless 2. recover - heals 50% max HP 3. protect - priority +4, prevents moves this turn 4. haze - removes stat changes, but blocked by Good as Gold? Haze is a status move, so Good as Gold blocks it. Also, my SpD is -1, but haze would remove that. However, Good as Gold blocks status moves targeting the opponent? Wait, Good as Gold makes the user immune to status moves. So if I use Haze, it targets the opponent? No, Haze affects all stat changes on the field, but it's a status move. Good as Gold makes Gholdengo immune to status moves. Does Haze target the opponent? In Pokémon, Haze affects all Pokémon on the field, removing stat boosts/drops. But Good as Gold specifically makes the Pokémon immune to status moves. If Haze is used by Toxapex, does it affect Gholdengo? Haze doesn't target a specific Pokémon; it clears all stat stages. However, Good as Gold says "This Pokémon is immune to Status moves." So status moves used against it fail. Haze is not really "against" it specifically, but in Showdown mechanics, Good as Gold blocks status moves that target the user. Haze affects the whole field, so it might still work on the opponent's stats? Actually, I need to be careful. In Pokémon mechanics, Good as Gold blocks status moves targeting the Pokémon. Haze is a status move that affects all active Pokémon, removing their stat boosts. Since it affects Gholdengo, Good as Gold would likely block the effect on Gholdengo, but would it remove my own SpD -1? Haze removes all stat changes from all Pokémon. But if Good as Gold makes Gholdengo immune to status moves, does it prevent Haze from affecting Gholdengo's stats? Yes. But would it prevent Haze from affecting my own stats? Haze is used by me, targeting the field. Good as Gold only protects the user (Gholdengo) from status moves. So Haze would remove my SpD -1 and any opponent stat changes except on Gholdengo? Actually, I'm not 100% sure about the interaction, but it's probably not the best move anyway. The key situation: Gholdengo is at 17% and will likely use Shadow Ball, which is super effective against Toxapex. Toxapex has no damaging moves that can hit Gholdengo (Toxic is blocked by Good as Gold, and even if it worked, Gholdengo is Steel/Poison? No, Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost, so it's immune to Poison). So I cannot damage Gholdengo at all. My win condition: Stall out Gholdengo? But Gholdengo has 17% HP and Shadow Ball will likely 2HKO or OHKO Toxapex. Let's calculate: Gholdengo SpA 137-203, Shadow Ball 80 BP. Toxapex Def 224, SpD 164 but -1 so effectively lower. Shadow Ball is special, so it hits SpD. Toxapex SpD 164, with -1 it's roughly 123? Actually stat stages: -1 means multiplied by 2/3. 164 * 2/3 ≈ 109. Shadow Ball from a +0 Gholdengo? Wait, opposing Gholdengo hasn't used Nasty Plot. My Gholdengo used Nasty Plot but fainted. Opposing Gholdengo is at 17% from my Annihilape's Rage Fist. It hasn't boosted. Shadow Ball damage: Level 50, SpA maybe around 137-203. Let's assume modest investment. Even at low SpA, Shadow Ball is 80 BP. Toxapex HP 157. At 86 HP currently. A Shadow Ball could easily do 50-80% damage. So if I don't Protect, I might faint. If I Protect: I avoid Shadow Ball this turn. Gholdengo is at 17%. Dragapult is badly poisoned at 81% and will take poison damage at end of turn. But Dragapult is not active. If Gholdengo stays in, it might die to poison? No, Dragapult is the one poisoned. Gholdengo is not poisoned. Wait, can I win? I have only Toxapex left. Opponent has Gholdengo (17%), Dragapult (81%, tox), and one hidden. I cannot damage Gholdengo (Good as Gold blocks Toxic, no attacking moves). I cannot damage Dragapult effectively (Toxic already on it, but it's not active; if it comes in, Thunderbolt is SE and Toxapex has no recovery that outpaces? Recover heals 50%, but Thunderbolt is SE and Dragapult is faster. Toxapex can't kill Dragapult because no damaging moves except... Toxapex has no attacking moves at all! Its moves are toxic, recover, protect, haze. So Toxapex cannot deal damage to anything. This means I cannot win unless the opponent somehow faints from poison or something. Dragapult is badly poisoned and will take damage each turn. But Dragapult is not active. If I stall, Dragapult's poison timer increases. However, Gholdengo is active and can just Shadow Ball me to death. Gholdengo at 17% might not die from anything. Wait, is there any way Gholdengo faints? It's at 17%. If it stays in and I Protect, it takes no damage. If it switches out, Dragapult or hidden comes in. But I can't damage them. Actually, looking at the battle, I seem to be in a losing position. Toxapex has no offensive presence. The best I can do is stall as long as possible. What should I do this turn? Options: - Protect: Avoid Shadow Ball, scout, let Dragapult's poison tick (but Dragapult isn't active, so poison doesn't tick until it switches in). Actually, poison damage happens at end of turn for the active Pokémon if poisoned. Since Dragapult is not active, its poison doesn't tick. Only active Pokémon take end-of-turn effects. So Protect just avoids damage this turn. - Recover: Heal to 136/157 (86 + 78 = 164, capped at 157? Actually 50% of max HP is 78.5, rounded down? 157/2 = 78.5, so 78 HP healed. 86 + 78 = 164, capped at 157. So back to full). But Gholdengo moves first and will use Shadow Ball before I can recover. So if I use Recover, Gholdengo attacks first, potentially knocking me out or severely damaging me, then I recover. But if Shadow Ball does more than 71 damage (86 to 15), I might faint before recovering. Since Gholdengo moves first, Recover is risky. - Toxic: Blocked by Good as Gold, fails. - Haze: Removes my SpD -1, but blocked? And doesn't help much. Given Gholdengo moves first and will likely use Shadow Ball, Protect is the safest to avoid damage and live another turn. Since I can't deal damage, stalling is the only option. Protect also lets me see if Gholdengo switches or stays. But wait, my notes say "Protect to avoid damage, scout Dragapult's move, and let poison tick." But Dragapult isn't active. Still, Protect is the standard stall move. However, consider: Gholdengo is at 17%. If I Protect, it might use Shadow Ball (wasting PP) or switch out. If it switches out to Dragapult, Dragapult is badly poisoned and takes poison damage at end of turn. But Dragapult is faster and will use Thunderbolt before I can act? Actually, if Gholdengo switches out, the new Pokémon comes in after the move. If I Protect and Gholdengo switches to Dragapult, Dragapult comes in and then end-of-turn poison ticks. Next turn Dragapult is active and faster. But since I can't win, I just need to choose the best action. Protect seems best to avoid immediate damage. Wait, is there any chance Gholdengo is at 17% and will faint from something? No, no passive damage on Gholdengo. Could I use Haze to remove my SpD drop? If I use Haze, Gholdengo moves first with Shadow Ball (SE), likely doing significant damage. Then Haze removes my SpD -1. But if I survive, having SpD restored is good. However, Good as Gold might block Haze's effect on Gholdengo, but Haze also affects me. Since Haze is a status move used by me, does Good as Gold block it entirely? In Showdown, Good as Gold prevents the Pokémon from being affected by status moves. Haze affects all Pokémon, but Gholdengo would be immune to the stat reset. My own SpD -1 would be removed by Haze. But the issue is Gholdengo moves first and might KO me before Haze activates. Given Toxapex is at 86 HP and Shadow Ball is SE, a Shadow Ball from Gholdengo could easily do 60-100 damage. Let's estimate: Level 50, SpA 137 (low end), Shadow Ball 80 BP, against SpD ~109 (after -1). Damage formula: ((2*50/5 + 2) * 80 * (SpA/SpD) / 50 + 2) * modifier. That's roughly (22 * 80 * (137/109) / 50 + 2) ≈ (22 * 80 * 1.257 / 50 + 2) ≈ (44.3 + 2) ≈ 46.3, times modifier (maybe 0.85-1.0) ≈ 40-46. So not an OHKO. At high SpA 203: (22 * 80 * 203/109 / 50 + 2) ≈ (22 * 80 * 1.862 / 50 + 2) ≈ (65.6 + 2) ≈ 67.6, times modifier ≈ 57-68. So Shadow Ball might do 40-70 damage. Toxapex at 86 could survive one hit, maybe two if low rolls. But if I use Recover, Gholdengo hits first (40-70 damage), leaving me at 16-46 HP, then I recover to 94-124 HP. That's actually not bad. But if it's a high roll, I could be at 16 HP, then recover to 94. Still alive. However, if Gholdengo has a boost or item, it could be worse. But Gholdengo hasn't boosted. Actually, the opponent's Gholdengo might have Leftovers or something. But we don't know. The problem is I have no way to damage Gholdengo. So the game is likely unwinnable unless the opponent misplays or Dragapult faints from poison while I somehow survive. But Dragapult is not active, so poison doesn't tick. Wait, can I force Gholdengo to struggle? No, it has Shadow Ball PP. Given the situation, Protect is the most sensible to avoid damage and scout. But Recover could also be good to heal up since I can't attack anyway. However, since Gholdengo moves first, if I Recover, I take damage then heal. If I Protect, I take no damage and stay at 86. Next turn I can Recover if needed. Actually, since I have no attacking moves, and Gholdengo is at 17%, maybe I should just Protect to stall PP? Shadow Ball has 24 PP (16/16 shown for my Gholdengo, but opponent's PP unknown). Not relevant. I think Protect is the best choice. It avoids damage, lets me live, and if Gholdengo switches, I can adapt. But wait, my notes from previous turns consistently say Protect. The situation hasn't changed: Gholdengo active, faster, SE Shadow Ball, Toxapex can't damage it. So Protect again. However, I should consider if Haze is useful to remove SpD -1. If I Protect, I keep SpD -1. If I Haze, I remove it but risk taking Shadow Ball first. Since Gholdengo moves first, Haze is risky. Protect is safer. Also, Toxic is useless (blocked by Good As Gold and Gholdengo is Steel type anyway? Wait, Gholdengo is Steel/Ghost, so it's immune to Poison. Toxic would fail regardless of Good as Gold because it's a Steel type. Actually, Steel types are immune to Poison. So Toxic fails for two reasons.) So the choice is between Protect and Recover (and Haze). Protect is best. Let me check if there's any reason to Recover instead. If I Protect, I stay at 86 HP with SpD -1. Next turn Gholdengo might Shadow Ball again, bringing me to ~20-46 HP. Then I can Recover. But if I Recover now, I take Shadow Ball first (to ~20-46), then heal to ~98-124. So Recover now results in higher HP after the turn than Protect now (which leaves me at 86). But if I Protect now, I avoid damage entirely and can Recover next turn after taking a hit. Let's compare: Turn 10 Protect: End turn at 86 HP, SpD -1. Turn 11: Gholdengo Shadow Ball (40-70 dmg), I end at 16-46 HP. Then I can Recover to 94-124 HP. Turn 10 Recover: Gholdengo Shadow Ball first (40-70 dmg), I go to 16-46 HP. Then Recover to 94-124 HP. End turn at 94-124 HP, SpD -1. So Recover now gives me more HP immediately, but I still have SpD -1. If I Protect now, I can Haze next turn to remove SpD -1 after scouting? But Gholdengo moves first again. Actually, if I Recover now, I end at higher HP. But I still have SpD -1, making me more vulnerable to special attacks. Shadow Ball is special, so SpD -1 means I take more damage. If I Haze, I remove SpD -1, but I need to survive the hit first. Given that I cannot win, the goal is to prolong the game. Protect is the standard stall move. But Recover might be better to maximize HP since I can't remove the SpD drop safely. Wait, can I use Haze and hope Gholdengo doesn't KO me? If Shadow Ball does 40-70, I survive at 16-46 HP, then Haze removes SpD -1. Next turn I have full SpD and 16-46 HP. That's actually quite good if I survive. But if it's a high roll or crit, I faint. Protect guarantees survival. Since I have no win condition, guaranteeing survival is better. Protect. Also, note that Dragapult is badly poisoned. If I can force Gholdengo out and Dragapult comes in, Dragapult takes poison damage. But I can't force it out. I'll go with Protect. Wait, I need to check: is there any possibility that Gholdengo at 17% will be knocked out by something? No. One more thing: The opponent's Gholdengo has used Shadow Ball multiple times. It might run out of PP eventually, but that's many turns away. Final decision: MOVE: protect Let me format the answer correctly. <notes> Toxapex (86/157, SpD -1, no item) vs faster Gholdengo (17%, Good as Gold). Toxapex has no damaging moves; Toxic blocked by Good as Gold/Steel immunity. Gholdengo moves first with SE Shadow Ball. Only stall option is Protect to avoid damage and scout; Recover would be hit first. Dragapult (81%, tox) is not active so poison doesn't tick yet. One hidden opponent remains. Win condition is none; prolong game. </notes> <decision> MOVE: protect </decision> Wait, the notes should be at most 60 words. Let me count: "Toxapex (86/157, SpD -1, no item) vs faster Gholdengo (17%, Good as Gold). No damaging moves; Toxic blocked. Gholdengo moves first with SE Shadow Ball. Protect to avoid damage and scout. Recover would be hit first. Dragapult (81%, tox) not active; poison doesn't tick. One hidden foe remains. Stall to prolong." Count: Toxapex(1) (86/157,(2) SpD(3) -1
Ornith 1.5 35B usedShadowballGholdengo (17.9%, immune to status via GoodasGold) vs Toxapex (54%, can't damage Gholdengo). Toxapex has spammed Protect 5x; Turn 10 likely a Protect or Recover. Shadow Ball chips to ~47% (no KO). Dragapult is Choice-locked into Thunderbolt (super effective, ~29 dmg) and is my clean finisher. Best line: chip now to force a Recover/Protect, then finish with Dragapult's Thunderbolt. Don't switch yet—keep pressure.
Reasoning trace (2,099 words)
Let me analyze the situation. My Gholdengo is at 17.9% HP (29/162). Their Toxapex is at 54% HP. Toxapex has used Protect 5 times and Recover once. The pattern was (P,P,X,P,P,X) — let me recount. Turn 4: Protect Turn 5: Protect Turn 6: (non-protect, got hit by Thunderbolt) Turn 7: Protect Turn 8: Protect Turn 9: Protect Wait, let me recount from the battle log: Turn 4: Opposing Toxapex used Protect Turn 5: Opposing Toxapex used Protect Turn 6: Opposing Toxapex used Toxic (non-protect) Turn 7: Opposing Toxapex used Protect Turn 8: Opposing Toxapex used Protect Turn 9: Opposing Toxapex used Protect So the pattern is P,P,X,P,P,P. That's 5 Protects and 1 Toxic. My notes said pattern (P,P,X,P,P,X) suggests Turn 9 is non-Protect, but actually Turn 9 was Protect. So the pattern isn't as clean as I thought. Now it's Turn 10. Their Toxapex is at 54%. My Gholdengo is at 17.9%. Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo (Steel immune to Poison). So I'm safe. Options: - Shadow Ball: super effective, ~43% from 54%. Might not KO. - Make It Rain: 120 power Steel, but not very effective on Toxapex (Water resists Steel). Also lowers Sp.Atk by 2. - Recover: heal Gholdengo. - Switch to Dragapult or Toxapex. Let me think about the math. Toxapex at 54%. Gholdengo's Shadow Ball with Wiseglasses (1.1x) is super effective (2x). Toxapex HP: 54% of max. Let's figure out max HP. Toxapex HP 157 (from team preview range 125-157). Actually the stats shown say HP 125-157. Let's assume 157. 54% of 157 = ~85 HP. Shadow Ball: power 80, with Wiseglasses 1.1x, SpA 203. Toxapex SpD 145-213. Let's use ~180 SpD. Damage = (80 * 203 * 1.1 / 180) * 0.5 (STAB? No, Shadow Ball is Ghost, Toxapex is Poison/Water, no STAB for Gholdengo) * 25/100 ... let me use the formula. Actually the standard formula: Damage = ((2*Level/5 + 2) * Power * A/D) / 100 * modifier Level 50: (2*50/5 + 2) = 22 Power 80, A = 203 * 1.1 (Wiseglasses) = 223.3, D = ~180 = 22 * 80 * 223.3 / 180 / 100 = 22*80 = 1760, *223.3 = 392, 960... let me compute: 1760 * 223.3 = 392, 960... 1760*223.3 = 393,008. /180 = 2183.4. /100 = 21.83. Then * 2 (super effective) * 1.1 (Wiseglasses already included) * 0.85-0.92 (random) * 1 (no STAB) = 21.83 * 2 = 43.66, * 0.875 = ~38. So Shadow Ball does ~38 damage. Toxapex at 54% = ~85 HP. So Shadow Ball brings it to ~47%, not KO. Hmm, that's not a KO. So if I Shadow Ball, they'll probably Recover again. Wait, but Toxapex only has Recover/Protect/Toxic. If it Recovers, it goes back to 100%. Then I chip again. Actually, let me reconsider. The key issue: Gholdengo is at 17.9%. Toxic is damaging me. But Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo. So I can stall out the Toxic with Recover if needed. But wait — if I Recover, Gholdengo goes to ~43%. Then Toxapex... what does it do? If it Protects, I recover more. If it Recovers, I chip. Actually, the real question: what's the winning line? Let me think about Make It Rain. It's 120 power but not very effective (0.5x) on Toxapex. So effective power = 60. That's less than Shadow Ball's super effective 80*2 = 160. So Shadow Ball is better for damage. Make It Rain would lower Sp.Atk by 2, which is bad for cleanup. So Shadow Ball is the move. But it won't KO from 54%. Hmm, let me reconsider the Toxapex HP. Maybe it's lower. The team preview says HP 125-157. If it's a defensive Toxapex with 252 HP EVs... at level 50, max HP with 252 EVs and 252 base... Toxapex base HP is 50. So 50 + (252+10)/4 ... let me compute. Actually the stat shown is 157 max HP (from my team preview of my own Toxapex). The opponent's Toxapex range is 125-157. If it's 157 max, 54% = 85 HP. Shadow Ball ~38 dmg → 47%. If it's lower, say 125 max, 54% = 68 HP. Shadow Ball ~38 dmg → 42%. Either way, not a KO. So the situation: I can't KO Toxapex in one hit. I need to either: 1. Stall out the Toxic and win the stall war. 2. Force Toxapex to waste turns. Since Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo, I'm in a good stall position. But I'm toxed, so I'm losing HP over time. Wait, actually — the opponent's Toxapex has used Protect 5 times and Recover once in 6 turns. That's a lot of Protect. If it keeps Protecting, I just wait. Let me think about what's optimal. My team: Toxapex, Gholdengo, Dragapult. Dragapult is Choice-locked into Thunderbolt (to hit Toxapex). Actually, wait. Is Dragapult Choice-locked? It has Choice Scarf. In turn 6, 7, it used Thunderbolt. So yes, Choice-locked into Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt is super effective on Toxapex. But if I switch to Dragapult now, Toxapex might Recover or Protect, and Dragapult is locked into Thunderbolt. If Toxapex Recovers, Dragapult is stuck. Hmm. Let me think about the stall war more carefully. Gholdengo at 17.9% (29 HP). Toxic does ~29/8 of max... wait, Toxic damage at level 50. Toxic does 1/16 of max HP per turn, increasing. Gholdengo max HP 162. 1/16 = ~10 per turn. So Toxic does ~10/turn, increasing. Gholdengo Recover heals 50% = ~81 HP. So one Recover brings it from 29 to ~110. Toxapex can't damage Gholdengo. So if I Recover, I'm fine. Toxapex will either Protect or Recover or Toxic (but Toxic won't work on Gholdengo due to GoodasGold). Actually, Toxapex's Toxic won't affect Gholdengo (GoodasGold = immune to status). So Toxapex's only useful moves vs Gholdengo are Recover and Protect. So the stall war: I Recover, Toxapex Recovers/Protects. Eventually Toxapex runs out of PP? Recover has 8 PP, Protect has unlimited (well, it fails after consecutive use). Toxic has 16 PP. Hmm, this is getting complicated. Let me think about the simplest winning line. Actually, the cleanest approach: I have Dragapult Choice-locked into Thunderbolt which is super effective on Toxapex. If I can get Toxapex low enough, Thunderbolt KOs it. Currently Toxapex at 54%. Thunderbolt from Dragapult (SpA 152, Choice Scarf doesn't boost SpA) — let me compute. Thunderbolt: power 90, SpA 152. Toxapex SpD ~180. Damage = 22 * 90 * 152 / 180 / 100 = 22*90 = 1980, *152 = 300, 960... 1980*152 = 300,960. /180 = 1672. /100 = 16.72. *2 (super effective) * 0.875 = ~29. So Thunderbolt does ~29 damage. Toxapex at 54% (85 HP) → ~26%. Not a KO but close. Wait, but Toxapex used Sitrus Berry in turn 6, healing to 54%. So it's at 54% now. If I switch to Dragapult and Thunderbolt, Toxapex → ~26%. Then if it Recovers (Sitrus already used, but it has Recover PP), it goes back up. Hmm. Actually, wait. Let me reconsider. The opponent's Toxapex has a Sitrus Berry (revealed in turn 6). So it's not holding something else. Sitrus Berry heals 25% when below 50%. So the Toxapex's strategy: Protect to stall, Recover to heal, Sitrus to heal, Toxic to poison. Let me think about the best play for me. Option A: Shadow Ball now. Brings Toxapex to ~47%. If it Recovers, back to 100%. If it Protects, I'm stuck. Option B: Recover. Gholdengo to ~43%. Toxapex does nothing useful. Then next turn chip. Option C: Switch to Dragapult. Thunderbolt next turn (if Toxapex doesn't Protect). But Toxapex might Protect, locking Dragapult. Hmm. Let me think about the pattern of Protect. Toxapex protected on turns 4,5,7,8,9. That's 5 Protects. It's been Protecting a lot. Actually, the key insight: Toxapex's Protect can be spammed but it fails on consecutive use (100% fail on 2nd consecutive, and lower chance after). Wait, Protect's success rate: first use 100%, second consecutive 25%, third 1/3*25%, etc. So after 2 consecutive Protects, it usually fails. But Toxapex has been alternating Protect with other moves (Toxic on turn 6). So it's not spamping consecutive Protects. It's Protect, Protect, Toxic, Protect, Protect, Protect. Wait, turns 8 and 9 both Protect consecutively. So on turn 9, Protect still worked (the log says "Opposing Toxapex used Protect" and "Your Gholdengo used Shadow Ball" and "Opposing Toxapex: Protect activated"). So Protect worked on turn 9 even though it was the 2nd consecutive (turn 8 and 9). Interesting, maybe it's just variance. Anyway, on Turn 10, what will Toxapex do? Hard to say. It could Protect again, Recover, or Toxic. Given Gholdengo is immune to status and Toxapex can't damage it, I have the advantage. The safest play is probably to chip with Shadow Ball and force Toxapex to react, or to Recover to stabilize. Actually, let me reconsider the whole picture. This is a stall mirror. My team has Toxapex and Gholdengo, both stallers. The opponent has Toxapex. The winning condition: I need to KO the opponent's Toxapex (it's the only one left). To KO Toxapex, I need to get it low. Shadow Ball does ~38, Thunderbolt does ~29. Neither KOs from 54%. If I Shadow Ball now (Turn 10), Toxapex → ~47%. Then: - If Toxapex Recovers → 100%. I'm back to square one but I've used a Shadow Ball. - If Toxapex Protects → I'm locked into Shadow Ball (not Choice-locked, just a decision). Next turn I Shadow Ball again (if it doesn't Protect) or it's stuck. Hmm, actually Gholdengo isn't Choice-locked. So I can switch or move freely. Toxapex at 54% (85 HP) → ~26%. Not a KO but close. Wait, but Toxapex used Sitrus Berry in turn 6, healing to 54%. So it's at 54% now. If I switch to Dragapult and Thunderbolt, Toxapex → ~26%.
